Here’s a prompt, Rumi has a fever but hides it from the girls, it’s their last practice before their comeback show.
She faints halfway through, She’s super sick and delirious when she wakes up, she notices she doesn’t have a long sleeve shirt on and panics?
Make sense? 💕
Hey, hope you like this! Thanks for the request. If anyone else has a prompt for a Polytrix fanfiction, please let me know ☺️
“What the fuck?” Was the first coherent thing Rumi could think to say as the world suddenly came back into view. “What…?”
Rumi looked around, trying her best to focus. She felt drowsy, like a fog had gotten stuck in her head. She was clearly in a hospital bed, but that didn’t make sense. What the hell? Last she remembered, she had been doing…a show…no, it was a practice…
Shit, how did she get here?
“Oh, baby!” Zoey exclaimed, startling Rumi, who hadn’t even noticed her girlfriends in uncomfy hospital chairs next to her. “Oh, I’m sorry!”
“Wow, you made her blood pressure soar.” Mira nodded at Rumi’s monitor. “Honey, you scared the shit out of us.”
“What happened? Was it, were there demons?” Rumi muttered, trying her best to focus. “Are you guys okay?”
Zoey and Mira exchanged glances. “Honey, no…”
“You pushed yourself too hard again.” Mira sighed, going to the other side of Rumi. Zoey decided that she would enjoy the conversation better if she was curled up next to Rumi in bed. Rumi giggled.
“What do you mean I pushed myself?” Rumi asked.
“Why didn’t you tell us you weren’t feeling well? Your health comes first, baby.” Mira said, clearly stressed.
“Oh, I didn’t feel that bad.” Rumi drowsily insisted. “And, I mean, I feel great now.”
“You’re hooked up to pain meds.” Zoey pointed at her arms. “See?”
Rumi glanced over to see an IV coming out of her arm. Wait, her arm? They can see her arm?
Rumi paled. They could see the patterns. She’d hid it for years and it all was ruined because of a stupid disease.
Rumi glanced at her girlfriends. They didn’t look like they were mad…but they were probably just waiting to dump her until she’s out of the hospital. Oh God. Everything was falling around her. Her career, her love life, her family, all gone.
She was so tired. And everything was being taken away. To Zoey and Mira’ surprise, Rumi began sobbing. Zoey tightened her hold on Rumi and Mira gently grabbed her hand.
“Baby, are you okay? Are you in pain?”
“You saw them. You’re going to leave now.” An exhausted Rumi cried.
“Saw what?” Mira asked, contemplating on whether or not she should call for a nurse. “Rumi, does something hurt?”
Rumi had cried to the point of a coughing fit. In between coughs, Rumi managed to say, “Don’t call.” Mira obeyed, but kept her hand on the nurse call button. Zoey gently hit Rumi’s back, desperately wanting to help, somehow.
Rumi slowly began to stop coughing but continued crying though somewhat calmed. “You don’t care?”
“Honey, we don’t know what you’re talking about.” Mira chuckled.
“My patterns. You can see them.” Rumi said quietly, as though afraid to even say out loud.
“Oh, sweetie.” Mira squeezed Rumi’s hand. “You’re really tired, huh?”
“You’re not mad? Or scared?”
“Scared at how bad your fever clearly is.” Mira put the back of her hand to Rumi’s forehead. “Yikes.”
“Baby, we found out about your patterns already. Water under the bridge.” Zoey assured her.
“Still not thrilled at how long it was kept a secret…” Mira started.
“Be nice! Our baby has pneumonia!” Zoey hissed at Mira.
“Our baby also thought it was a good idea to go to practice with a fever.” Mira sassed, giving Rumi’s hand a reassuring squeeze.
“So, you’re not mad?” Rumi asked, the exhaustion coming back as she began realizing her girlfriends didn’t hate her.
“Do you want to use the sleep?” Zoey asked gently. Rumi nodded and curled back up in the hospital bed.
“I’m glad you guys don’t hate me.” Rumi murmured.
“Of course not!” Zoey exclaimed.
“We could never.” Mira reassured her, sitting back down.
“I love you guys.” Rumi mumbled, already zoning back out. Zoey, having accepted that she was officially stuck until Rumi woke back up, shut her eyes as well.
Mira chuckled. “We love you too, kiddo.”
