give this a read even if you dont use genai* - it could affect you too if you see it & give you more info while reporting these ads as malicious

during some time, they were taken down for violations of the discord API terms, this was getting api keys(?) ids(?) (one of those) from users (which put them in hot water too. youre not supposed to give them out) as well as training their ai off messages in the servers they were in

You may wonder "but that's generally public, why would this be an issue" the way their service worked, you could use the bot without even being prompted to consent or not conset to their terms of use (you had to go seek it out manually actually).

So a lot of people didn't know about this (even creators of these bots) and a lot of users wouldn't use shapes in the server, so couldnt withdraw their consent from this happening.

when the ban wave happened initially, it killed a lot of their already-snapping users (from issues with premiums and fees for paid users/donors) But they did not back down. They refused to change.

the way they're currently advertising is the use of the ai bots on their site (which is basically then just ported into your servers) - report these ads as the malicious entity they are. they refuse to change.

*for simplicity, whenever i mention ai/bots/shapes, im taking about the generative ai-based chatbots that shapes.inc provides, and no, before you ask, it isnt a very good service.

FUCK MISINFORMATION & FEAR-MONGERING

Discord has NOT silently made or added AI bots to your Servers! That is misinformation & fear-mongering!

Those are just Apps anyone can make, and there's nothing special about them! They cannot be used unless you explicitly add them to your account or to a Server. Nor do they have ANY access to ANY messages/images unless you use a command on them (when not explicitly added to Servers).

Hi there fellow tumblr users! So Discord is introducing a new AI bot for generating and/or filtering images. Lovely, right? Don’t you just love when apps disrespect artists? (haha no we don’t)

So anyways, this app/AI bot is being introduced and will be in your servers. However discord’s built in /ban command can remove the bot from your server if you have the user ID, which I will include below

You can also disable use of external commands and applications too, though I think banning the app is the most surefire way to avoid its inclusion in your server

I also recommend giving the app a 1 star review on your AppStore as well as a written review stating that you do not consent to the use of AI on discord and want it to be removed. I honestly hope discord gets the message
