An Autistic Human's Guide to Not Sounding Like a Clanker™
if you guys are like me, you may have to edit your writing for school because it's often overly formal, includes long words, and/or uses semicolons or m-dashes (is it em-dash or m-dash cause idk)
not anymore you won't!! (well like u still might but these are some ways tot be sure)
#1: use n dashes when an m dash should be used
everyone knows that bots use m dashes often, but my favorite minor mistake to make is just to use dashes all the time but use the wrong one; AI doesn't use the wrong dashes XD
#2: be less confident sometimes
a bot will usually present everything ever as fact. use words like "likely," "usually," "sometimes," "appears," or "often" to sound more human! :D
#3: use the word "I" once in a while
yeah, yeah, it's a bit informal, but that's just how a human is. humans slip up, we aren't formal 100% of the time, and this can be a hint to others that your writing wasn't AI-generated.
#4: don't use those classic AI sentence structures, please
if you don't know what i mean, AI-generated text often has these specific sentence structures in it; i recommend switching them out if you see them in your writing:
"it's not just ___, it's ___"
"whether ___ or ___"
#5: don't use these certain words/phrases either
AI also really likes some of these specific words, so I'd suggest you edit these out as well if you have a lot of them:
journey, embark, delve, realm, nuance, cutting-edge, rich, tapestry, albeit, testament, indelible, comprehensive, intricate, foster, navigate, palpable, crucial, "a touch of ___," poignant, moreover, "important to note that ___," complexities, vibrant, capacity, derive, authentic. multifaceted, profound, furthermore, resonate, emphasize, immerse, unwavering, enigma/enigmatic, seamless
(that was long, there's just a lot of them XD, maybe i'll ask a friend to make a program that just checks text for those specific words for people idk)
and lastly, #6: try to get rid of any random, unnecessary statements about the topic itself at the beginning
i know at the beginning of essays you usually put some stuff about the topic, but AI does this excessively and may spend 4-5 sentences doing it, and it will all sound like total filler/fluff. if any of your opening paragraph(s) sounds like filler to you, i'd recommend you remove it; if you'd like, this would be a good thing to ask a friend about as well!
thanks for reading!! reblog to help others!! don't let this get to the tech bros!! (i don't think they're on tumblr but idk) :3
