Concept, Widow picked her current outfit herself. I know, but stick with me for a sec. It's been theorized that Widows Noire skin is her "origins" skin and the predator style cable hair and different helmet is what was used to brainwash her, so the rest of that (still overtly sexy) outfit was her Talon standard issue. (1)

But it never felt right, something was wrong with it. So Widow one day made something that felt better, more familiar somehow. But the twisted memories resulted in what she has now, a poor and corrupted substitution for one of the costume she had worn on stage in her old life. Some part of her desperately trying to hold onto some stained scrap of who she used to be.

amelies memories, from the voice lines we’ve gotten in the game ( “gerard was a fool to love you” “you dont know anything about him!”, amelie mourning gerard at the graveyard in reflections, etc) are still there. she has at least some definite pictures of her life; she just may not have any real emotional connection to them anymore, which is so fucked up beyond words!!!

and lets not try and do the ‘this female character picked this sexy outfit herself!’ song and dance; widowmaker was designed by blizzard and blizzard artists to be titillating and fanservicy with that neckline, and her painted on bodysuit. flat out.

if there’s any “canon” reasoning, then talon put her in it. i doubt an organization willing to kidnap, torture, and brainwash an innocent woman into a sleeper agent and assassin, then modify her body without consent wouldn’t give a good goddamn about how ethical her clothes are or aren’t.  

ftr: i always thought widowmaker’s noire skin (her hair esp) was a reference to like....some starcraft thing? or some other blizzard game. if we did see an “origins” skin for widowmaker, it would have been something along the lines of what we saw in ana’s comic (legacy, i think?)

right, so, i have absolutely no idea where you got that information (so, a source would be awesome but i doubt you’d slide one over) because literally every other reading ive found has stated no such thing???  

At first, the dancers wore masks, layers upon layers of brocaded costuming, pantaloons, large headdresses and ornaments. Such restrictive clothing was sumptuous to look at but difficult to move in. Dance steps were composed of small hops, slides, curtsies, promenades and gentle turns. (source)

+it was done for the aristocracy as entertainment for weddings, based directly off of renaissance dances at first, and audience participation was an actual thing.

anyway amelie would have danced in modern 2050-60′s ballet and not, say, 1600′s ballet which was when france started to hammer out the movements, terms, costuming, etc which sort of moots your point anyway. for modern ballet dancers, dancin’ with the tiddy out is unprofessional

Maybe i'm missing something, but I think you might be a little sensitive on this topic. To me it seems to be more going for the trope of "Evil genius little girls" Which is a trope that exists as well as evil children in general. I admit I could be wrong though, maybe there is something totally racist about this, but as far as I can tell this video is relying on a trope about young girls, not some stereotype of black people being evil.

second of all she hasnt even been around for like a day and yet people are already on the “a genius child??? CLEARLY AN EVIL GENIUS!!!” trope train for like......what reason. what canon reason throws suspicion onto her. like, strictly based on facts, what has efi oladele done?? nothing exists yet in any amount of canon to claim that shes the devil (like that lovely fucking thumbnail made her out to be, lmao)

like, we all know angela ziegler gets the “secretly evil” thing all the time. but even that took some fucking time to get traction! to come around! and even that reading takes some reach thanks to ingame voice lines from other characters, reading of character bios and outside lore information, etc etc etc.  

the racism comes from the timing. like it took less than a day for a vocal majority to cry EVIL SUPER GENIUS!! to a young black girl. dont you think its pretty fucking sketchy that a dark skinned, young black girl is called into question for her success?? idk about you my guy but im real fuckin skeeved out and im not gonna tolerate a devils advocate

You don't have to publish this-- but if anyone comes at you for the YOW Efi vid, they've deleted a large swath of the initial comments calling them on how racist the vid was. But not the comments that mention wanting to kill or fuck a child. Or the ones calling Blizz a feminazi cuck. I found out because I was notified about a response on a comment thread about it, but when I went to look it was all gone. Just an update in case someone tells you that YOW didn't mean for it to be racist.

bruh black on black crime itself, as a concept and term, were manufactured as a means of oppression. When someone commits a crime against someone of their own race, that is the one situation where it can be safely assumed race did not factor in to motivation. Only after the fact when the incident is viewed through the prism of race by those in power (guess who that usually is) does it suddenly gain relevance. There’s no such thing as black on black crime.
