Woman passenger told to switch seat due to Pakistani men
A United Airlines passenger, USA, was asked to change seat to make place for two Pakistani men who did not want to sit next to a woman.
Mary Campos, the passenger, was on a flight from California to Houston when staff member requested her a seat change. The aircrew explained her that the Pakistani men could not sit with her due to cultural beliefs.
Campos was, initially, enraged by such demand. She described them both as “Pakistani monks” stating that they did not even want to be served by female staff.
Mary Campos agreed to the seat change, but, she thinks that it is a discrimination against a particular gender. She even wrote a letter to the United States:
“What if I were handicapped or transgender? What if your entire crew were female? Any belief that prevents individuals from interacting with females should not travel on commercial aircraft.”
The airline responded to the matter as:
“We regret that Campos was unhappy with the handling of the seat assignments on her flight. United holds its employees to the highest standards of professionalism and has zero tolerance for discrimination.”
Campos did not want the situation to get out of hands or to sue the airline; but she demands an apology from the airplane staff to all the female members present at the flight.
