Tangled was my very first princess movie. Not in the literal sense--I was 11 by the time I first watched it, and I'd grown up on Barbie princess tales--but it was the first time I saw a movie and realized how magic storytelling could be. Preteen me could quote the songs by heart, but it was more than that for me. Something about the line delivery--dark, and then immediately using humor to subvert what otherwise sounds extremely tragic--just stuck with me. Tangled was one of the stories that got me into fanfic writing and launched me into fandoms as a whole, so it always has a place near and dear in my heart.
