Sonar and Coupé’s contract details

So I was going through episode 3 to get my achievement for cutting Sonar (but not for real he’s one of my favorites and I will stand next to my batboy conman)

ANYWAYS as I was looking at the files I decided to see what I could read off both their files totally not to see any additional information on Sonar. As you know Coupé’s file is redacted to hell and back but both of them have their contract details on there. Now this was a little challenging to read so I had to zoom in and take a picture.

This one is Coupé’s and here’s what it says:

COUPÉ was identified by SDN as a promising candidate for the experimental Phoenix Program.

Upon agreeing to the conditions of her probation, COUPÉ was turned over to SDN staff and stationed at the Torrance branch in California HQ and officially instated to the Phoenix Program.

COUPÉ is an ex-mafia affiliate and former prima ballerina. She has a history of alleged extortion, kidnapping, and assassination. She is considered extremely dangerous and is released to SDN’s care under the conditions of adherence to SDN guidelines and the rules and regulations set forth by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office regarding Superhero activities.

Any changes to her (COUPÉ’S) conditional employment at SDN should be immediately communicated to the LA District Attorney’s office, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and Interpol. If COUPÉ’S employment is terminated, she shall be immediately placed under arrest and returned to the custody of ADX Florence Supermax in Colorado.

For reasons that are classified COUPÉ is not allowed to operate under any circumstances in France, Russia, Bulgaria, and Ohio.

And here’s what Sonar’s says:

SONAR was identified by SDN as an ideal candidate for the experimental Phoenix Program. Upon agreement of the conditions of his probation, and several auxiliary rounds of financial negotiations, SONAR was stationed at the Torrance branch in California HQ and officially instated into the Phoenix Program.

SONAR is classified as a half-bat half-man hybrid with a history of fraud in the financial sector.

His freedom is conditional on his adherence to SDN guidelines and the rules and regulations therein set by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office regarding Superhero activities.

Any changes to his (SONAR’S) conditional employment at SDN should be immediately communicated to the LA District Attorney’s office. If SONAR’S employment is terminated, he shall be returned to the custody of California State Prison, Los Angeles county.

Now if you just skimmed over it there is a fun little part of their contract details are in the second half where it says if there is any changes in their employment at SDN it has to be communicated to the LA District Attorney’s office (as well of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and Interpol for Coupé) AND if their employment is terminated they get sent back into the custody of the prisons they were imprisoned at.

So by cutting them, you not only are you firing them from their job and taking away the opportunity to be a hero and change their life for the better for whomever you’re cutting. But you’re also taking away their freedom and sending them back to prison.

Now you angst lovers are fed even more with the decision on who to cut in episode 3.

However I do kinda question why this isn’t really brought up at all in the game now that I’ve found this out? If they got cut that means they were supposed to be going back into their respective prison’s custody. Or maybe probation??? in Sonar’s case as the comics showed he was out of prison in the comics the night before their first day at SDN after Malevola enrolls them. I honestly don’t even know how the comics, or at the very least Last Bender, fit in this case just going off this.

Also I didn’t know Blonde Blazer was their probation officer. Though she is probably the entire Z-team’s probation officer. And why Coupé is banned from Ohio of all places we'll never know.

Some thoughts about episodes 3 and 4:

- as much as I love having Waterboy or Phenomaman on the team, it kills me to let go of Sonar or Coupé. The z-team I was introduced to is who I want to become a found family, damnit

- I wish there was a non-romance option. Telling both Blonde Blazer and Invisigal that I can’t make it

- I am curious if they’ll be able to wrap up the story. I’m not saying nothing happened in the first four episodes, but it really feels like not a lot has. The pace feels slow, basically

- I absolutely adored how the z-team were sabotaging each other, but it does make me wonder what everyone’s individual motivations are. Do they want to be heroes? Do they just not want to be in prison?

- we keep throwing stuff at Flambae. Also, there was one hella gay line he said after getting back to a mission, but I can’t remember what it was lmao

That’s about it for me. Can’t wait for the 5th

I think one of the things I despise and love about episode 3 of Dispatch is how you have to fire one person on your team because they don’t meet the standards of an arbitrary leaderboard in a company/system that is already set up to make them fail.

It exposes the evil/faults in the system/corporation that takes advantage of the desperate. These are ex villains who are consenting and willing to become heroes/turn their life around for the good of society. To the point they will sabotage the person/their friend next to them. Not because they are evil, but because they are desperate not to go back to jail or be forced to return to the life that got them there.

The person you are forced to let go are really hurt by your decision as well. They rightfully get angry at you because they are doing the best they can. Sure they are rough asf around the edges, but they have the skills and characteristics to become good heroes.

Because what is the point of a hero who only saves numbers, not lives.

Holy fucking shit

Actually i wanted to wait before posting anything about episodes 3 and 4. Sort my thoughts. Compile something. The likes. But I'm replaying and

Remember me mentioning I chose to kiss Blonde Blazer? When you have to talk to Phenomaman after she breakes up with him you can tell him about the kiss

And when you do he picks up Robert and kisses him.

I fucking can't with this game. I am on the floor and I can't get up.

Also while we're here. Love to have some more names for some of the characters.

And Phenomaman is apparently not human? At least he's not a person. Whatever he is, I do believe him when he says that. He is far too literal. I have also scratched him off my evil list (for now).
