Prompt 31 - Dissipate

“OUCH!!!!” Remus screamed to James’s left.

“REMUS!!!” He shouted, reaching blindly through the smoke for his friend.

“Reggie, it’s Remus!” Sirius cried, shocking James. The yelling stopped immediately.

“Sorry, Remus, I thought you were Snape,” Regulus apologised.

“Snape?” Lily asked.

“Oh, you’re here, Evans,” James could almost see the eye roll.

“What’s with all the smoke?” James asked, trying to feel his way to Regulus.

“It’s fog. I used it to get away from those imbeciles.” Regulus scoffed, but seconds later the fog began to dissipate, and James was able to grab Regulus into his arms.

“They went this way!” Snape shouted as he, Mulciber and Avery hurtled around the corner with their wands raised. James, Regulus, Sirius and Remus all raised their wands, ready to duel.

“Oh, for crying out loud!” Lily shoved past them and stood in between the two parties with her hands firmly on her hips. “Severus Eunice Snape, what do you think you’re doing, attacking students in the corridors? Ten points from Slytherin each, and I’ll be telling your head of house. Now go away before I add detentions to that.”

“Eunice! Ha!” James blurted out, unable to keep his mouth shut. Lily turned her fury on him, and as any man would, he cowered under her icy stare.

“You’re one to talk, James Fleamont Potter!” Lily huffed.

“It’s not that bad a name,” James grumbled under his breath, glad that Lily hadn’t heard him.

“To be fair, mate, Fleamont is a bit of an odd one, and my name's Sirius,” Sirius said, patting him on the back.

“Yeah, but nothings as bad as Eunice,” Remus snickered, and before Lily could turn on them, they ran for it.

“Cowards!!!” She yelled after them as they laughed and whooped away from her.
