The most contentious part of Sirius and Remus's divorce is who gets custody of Crookshanks.

they're both convinced he's their cat. sure Sirius bonded with him first, but Remus is the one whose lap he sits on every evening. Sirius always moves too much and Crookshanks jumps off with an irritated huff - much like he does when Remus won't crouch down to stroke him because his back/knees/ankles are aching, which is every morning, so Sirius is always the one to feed him. and go out prowling with him, rain or shine, and chase off other cats threatening their territory or pigeons waddling a little too close. but Remus is the one who wrangles Crookshanks to the vet for his shots and that time he broke a paw jumping down the chimney (Sirius twisted an ankle climbing down to get him)

the lawyers manage to get them to agree to exchange Crookshanks every month, but obviously Crookshanks has no interest in following anyone's rules. he goes where he wants when he wants, meaning Sirius and Remus frequently turn up at each other's houses late at night, demanding their cat back. sometimes they don't leave

eventually they give up living in separate houses completely and just get back together (for the sake of the cat, obviously)

do you have any toxic old gay men headcanons you'd like to share?

Most toxic thing about Bill and Henry is their relationships with their ex-wives so I'm gonna talk about that cus I don't do that enough.

Bill and Maggie met outside a couple clubs while they were at Uni and hooked up a few times. They generally had a pretty good time but they ended up conceiving Mikey and it was the 60s so they had to get married. Bill and Maggie are really really similar in the sense that they're both very headstrong, this means they get along great in short bursts but not for extended periods of time.

Maggie knows what Bill's like and how manipulative he can be so they try to hold it together for as long as they can but they eventually crack. They got into a realllly bad and very public argument at a Fredbear's Christmas party and Maggie filed for divorce the next day.

Bill orginally didn't want to get divorced cus it kinda messes with his 'perfect sitcom dad' persona but he got a call from Henry expressing sympathy for the fact his wife wanted to leave him and he was suddenly very okay with it.

Henry and Eryk got together because all their friends were getting married and they felt like they had to. Henry's gay and Eryk's aroace but neither of them knew that at the time so they just kept trying to make it work even though it really wasn't. Henry's really emotionally unavailable and couldn't give Eryk the support she needed and the whole marriage just made them both feel broken. They seperated in the 70s and they do not talk.

Since Henry's marriage fell apart before Bill's they had a lot of conversations like 'dammn how do you do it, man.... Marriage is haaard'
