Also I love that other people are enjoying the Empty Netters guys doing their reviews cause Dan and Chris, along with producer Sean, are legit some of the best hockey podcasters I've ever listened to. For years. Their fan interactions as well. Top notch. Hockey Talk Sunday is amazing. Yes they still talk like hockey frat boys in like a weird not misogynistic, rape culture way, but I don't feel like I would be scared to be trapped in an elevator with them or leave a drink unattended around them.

WhatChaos! Is amazing as well but I only just started listening to them cause of Heated Rivalry, so I'm still getting the feels for them but I think it's gonna be added to my rotation.

In terms of the whole empty netters drama with the leaked texts. Honestly, I think if what chaos were the ones to leak the texts (dj lol) it was most likely a net good for the community, while the texts that empty netters showed were tame(?ish)(still awful). Hockey fans that love the show have been saying that netters were scum since they have started this weird review grift. I personally have been aware of them for literal years and have never wanted to hear one fucking word out of either of the guys including when they host interviews for the actual NHL.

As far as the texts that had been showed, and what people are saying about them. Yeah, they seem relatively tame in consideration with what is going on generally with the state of things in the US, yet it is still emblematic of a greater hockey culture that multiple people are trying to evolve the fan base from. What they said was not good in any case.

The fact that they had been leaked, that was seemingly the only conversation they had about the show. And still someone who clearly cares about the community and thought that they should be out to the public, means that they know Dan is not an ally. And it means that they know EN are not who they say they are behind closed doors.

As a fan of hockey and someone who doesnt know the EN personally, i know they are not good guys. They have like a decade of bullshit podcasts no one wants to sit through to find out if they actually are as woke as they act, you dont even have to go through all ten years just go through the reviews they did on HR or even like watch one from two months before and youll see whispers of the behaviour they are clearly trying to hide from their new gay and women fanbase.

Its not about if this show can change peoples opinions of gay people. It was never meant to be that, it was simply a romance in a hockey setting. I do not care if the empty netters did a 180 on all of their politics bc of this show bc i will simply never believe them, thats between them and god or whatever. I need ppl to stop being so desperate for a shred of surface level allyship and actually look at people who have a track record of allyship or atleast actually in this fiscal period have expressed any sort of actual physical support.

I know its exhausting to, over and over again, experience the level of disappointment with ppl you like online. But there is not a single moment where you should be lenient on your beliefs that women deserve basic respect and queer people deserve basic repsect, and instead decide that actually the dogma and violent redpill dogwhistles arent THAT bad. Just because you are tired of the conflict.

Hypothetically speaking: if I felt a community that I cared about was being hoodwinked, and I was in any sort of moral quandary, I would side with that community.
