Never Forget 9/11 (Bonus Post) - Mott's 9/11 Display at the Home and Garden Show

This weekend, to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, Mott's Military Museum had a special display of some of their 9/11 artifacts at the Home and Garden Show at the Ohio Expo Center, including a New York/New Jersey Port Authority Cruiser that was on site of the attacks.

It was a busy weekend for Mr. Motts and his museum, as the museum hosted a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony with free admission on Saturday for the community at their Groveport museum, which has lots of 9/11 Artifacts.

DJBC Tumblr 21 - And The Winners Are

2021 is over. DJBC Tumblr trips around town will resume (Lord Willing and the Creek Don't Rise) in the Spring of 2022, probably May at the absolute latest. But, it was a wild eight months back into the world, as events started popping up as soon as people got vaccinated. Here were our favorites (click on the photos to see the nominees in each category).

We've got a few more Holiday Posts up over the next week, leading up to the Nativity Posts next week, on the actual 12th Day of Christmas, because after the 344th gift is opened, the Three Wise Men will come a knockin' (if you didn't understand that, please do your Christmas research).

And hopefully, we'll have some of those favorites and perennial Tumblr Summer stops that we've missed in person over the last couple of years, return in 2022.

DJBC Tumblr Fall Throwback - COTA Transit App

This Fall, COTA launched their new Fare Payment System, which would use electronic payments with the Transit App, or a Smartcard (for those who don't have iPhones, let alone cell phones) to load cash on either at the COTA Customer Experience Center or one of their partner stores around town.

November kicked off with a launch party at the COTA Customer Experience Center at their Downtown headquarters. If you spun the wheel, chances were you'd get a USB Charger, or red gloves to use while waiting in the cold.

Today is Veteran's Day, but the MilVets Columbus Veteran's Day Parade was held last Friday in Downtown Columbus, marking the first parade in Downtown Columbus since...the 2019 MilVets Veteran's Day Parade. This year's parade paid tribute to the 20 year War on Terror - Operation Enduring Freedom, paying tribute to the Veterans from the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Here were some more parade highlights.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 21 - 2021 MilVets Columbus Veteran's Day Parade (Part 1)

Today is Veteran's Day, but the MilVets Columbus Veteran's Day Parade was held last Friday in Downtown Columbus, marking the first parade in Downtown Columbus since...the 2019 MilVets Veteran's Day Parade.

This year's parade paid tribute to the 20 year War on Terror - Operation Enduring Freedom, paying tribute to the Veterans from the Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 21 - Festival For Good 2021

The Festival for Good was held a few weeks ago during Franklinton Fridays over at the Gravity complex on West Broad Street. Festival for Good is a festival highlighting local social enterprises - everything from T-shirt companies that employ homeless and at-risk youth, to a vegan popsicle cart promoting youth entrepreneurship, plus other social enterprises.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 21 - More Highball Halloween 2021

Highball Halloween was held this past weekend at Express LIVE in the Arena District, a norm from its traditional High Street, where Highball spent its first 12 years, before going Virtual last year during the height of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

This year, attendees were required to show proof of vaccination upon entry (per the venue’s guidelines).

Nevertheless, it was a great event featuring the Costume Contest, and of course the Costume Couture Fashion Contest, which featured designs from six local fashion designers.

Here are some more of the highlights from Highball, which benefitted the Short North Alliance and Short North Arts District.

DJBC Tumblr Fall 21 - The Columbus Marathon

The Columbus Marathon returned last week after being cancelled last year due to the Pandemic. Precautions were put in place, such as having all race participants (runners, staff, and volunteers) being required to be fully vaccinated (against COVID). The race benefitted Nationwide Children's Hospital, which was along Miles 8 and 9 of the Race, going out of the Near East Side into the South Side.

The 26.2 Mile race began and ended in the Arena District, going through Downtown, the Near East Side (including Olde Towne East and Franklin Park), Bexley, the Near South Side, German Village, the Brewery District, the Short North (including Harrison West and Victorian Village), The Ohio State University, Upper Arlington, and Grandview Heights.

Here are some highlights from the 2021 Race. The 2022 Race will be held on Sunday October 16 (always the Third Sunday of October).
