They all occasionally have cookouts and fight for who gets to man the grill (it's luigi)

Dk loves to watch mario when they go Karting, mario is so occupied driving he doesn't realize just how much dk gazes at him lovingly (also to make sure he's safe because he's secretly a huge softy)

What do you mean lovers don't spar with each other as a bonding experience?

Dk loves to cuddle, especially when it's just the two of them, and he doesn't have to act all tough

One time, dk pet mario when he had the cat suit and mario started purring. Mario then glared at dk to say not to tell anyone that happened (he does, mario just doesn't know)

Alright I'm going through shipping brainrot so y'all get some mariokong headcanons

• Dk grooms mario the same exact way apes irl do, it took a bit for mario to get used to it at first but eventually warmed up to it

• Mario teaches Dk how to speak Italian which Dk is surprisingly good at, on occasion mario will teach Dk to say something wildly inappropriate but will tell him it means something else

• And then when luigi hears Dk say whatever mario taught him he IMMEDIATELY corrects him

• Mario saw Dk attempt to cook something exactly once and now he's banned from the kitchen with very few exceptions

• This includes the microwave because dk can't even follow instructions on one of those boxes of microwaved dinners

• He's too impatient so he just removes the film (or doesn't) and puts it in for all the times on the box added together

• And then it comes out overcooked/burnt

• Bonus points if he manages to light it on fire

• Dk is surprisingly good at making kebabs and fruit smoothies of any kind

• Mario will gently run his fingers through Dk's fur when he thinks he's asleep

• Mario thinks Dk doesn't know this but he's fully aware of it

• Dk will pretend to be asleep sometimes just to get mario to do it

• Dk has always been really bad at watching/babysitting diddy and dixie kong, but despite this he's always put in charge anyway

• When mario heard about this he immediately offered to help dk watch them

• Dk gave mario SEVERAL warnings on how it would be a horrible idea

• Mario doesn't listen and helps anyway

• Dk is terrified at first but soon relaxes after mario seems to be doing surprisingly well with them

• At the end of the day diddy and dixie are so tuckered out that they fall asleep almost instantly

• Cue surprised pikachu face Dk

• Even cranky is surprised by this feat because even by jungle kingdom standards diddy and dixie are incredibly hard to deal with (aka adhd af)

• Eventually after awhile of dating, cranky pulls dk aside and says that he better not do anything stupid to end up losing mario, whether it's a break-up or outright death is up for interpretation (cranky definitely meant both)

Cold Face Cuddles (also on ao3)

Luigi blinked the sleep from his eyes and grunted, his blankets were warm due to body heat but he could still feel the chill of the hotel room seeping in.

Rolling over towards the space between the beds, the plumber could practically feel heat rolling off of something in waves across from him.

At the hazy promise of a better nights sleep, Luigi summoned all his determination to leave the soft, inviting bed he was currently in and tipped himself over the side of the mattress, dragging his blankets along with him.

Courageously worming and wiggling his way towards the warm thing in the middle of the room, the plumber pressed his face against the inviting heat and sighed, instantly falling asleep.

Bowser jolted at the cold spot poking his side. Snorting to himself, the king slowly emerged from his shell, the outside air making him more sluggish than usual. He shook his head and stretched, yawn cut short when the cold thing pressed more firmly at his scales.

Growling, Bowser turned to glare at whatever it was, only to see his wimpy sports event partner curled up on the cushion the staff had brought since the koopa didn't fit any of the beds.

Ugh, it wasn't worth it. Bowser rolled his eyes and tucked back into his shell. He'd rather go back to snooze town than deal with his partner complain and keep him up too.

"Sveglia sveglia dormiglione!" Mario sang, cheerily busting into his younger brother's hotel room. "Issa time-a for breakfast, Bro~."

"Ghhh, dammi altri 5 minuti, Fratello." Luigi grouched, pulling the covers over his head.

Mario's eyes grew round as he took in the sight of his brother basically snuggling next to the Koopa King, who had taken a look at the older plumber and just went back to sleep.

"Oooooh, quindi voi due vi state coccolando adesso? Che audacia!"

His brother snorted, dragging the blanket down enough so just his nose and usually pristine mustache stuck out.

"Come se tu non avessi fatto lo stesso a 'Mr. Dancing Pecs'," came the sarcastic reply.

Spluttering, Mario called out for him to not be late or all the food would be gone, DK following after the older plumber and asking why his face was so splotchy.
