Bad title lol
4 1/2 hour long LU RWBY au (ft, draks verse) live write I did in the Darks-Verse discord yesterday that turned out surprisingly decent.
Enjoy :3
The bell rang as soon as Link - nicknamed Legend for multiple reasons - sat on the bleachers in Haven Huntsmen Academy's combat classroom, very thankful that the hallways were less crowded than normal; otherwise he definitely wouldn't have made it on time. Actually, scratch that, he wouldn't have made it in, not with how strict Ms. Goodwitch was about this last time.
The temporary swap in combat instructors wasn't exactly something Legend had appreciated.
"Good afternoon everyone." The students snapped to attention immediately at her crisp voice. "We will be following the normal schedule for today's class. Please go ahead and find a partner for warm ups." At this, everyone stood up and wandered the room for a partner. Legend went looking for someone in particular.
After a minute or two of wandering a sea of humans and faunus alike, Legend felt a light tap on his shoulder before his fight or flight instinct kicked in and threw a punch at whoever was behind him. His fist was caught by a boy his height with red hair so dark it seemed black and purple eyes that sparkled amusingly.
"Oh, hey Curse, I was looking for ya." "I figured," he said with a smile.
They found spot that hadn't already been taken and assumed combat positions facing the same direction. Curse and Legend started by extending their arms, as if punching, but slowly enough for it to be stretching.
"How've you been?" The former asked. "I haven't seen you in a while." They kept slowly extending and retracting their arms, changing the arm every time. "It's been going," the later responded. "Classes have been ok for the most part, having a bit of fun in art actually, but history's been keeping me up longer than I'd like." Curse chuckled. "History tends to do that."
Each stopped the punches and moved to touch their toes, one foot at a time. "You'd know something about that wouldn't you. It must be hard helping Acidic recover from that Beowolf, and keep up with class and homework. Is he doing much better? And how's Ravio??"
Curse stopped for a moment to think about his response.
"Yes, Acidic is doing a lot better, actually. He's having some trouble running, but he can keep his balance walking and even stand on one leg for a few seconds." "Already? That's really good news," Legend said with a smile on his face. The black-haired boy nodded in agreement.
Ms. Goodwitch called for everyone to jog in place.
"As for Ravio," Curse started as they began jogging, "he was actually the one who ordered me back to school. Said I'd spent enough time out of combat and wanted to make sure I don't fall out of practice, something like that. Like I don't train every so often." Legend rolled his eyes. "Yeah, sounds like him. I'm also assuming he mommed you about getting your work done." "Heh, not as much as he does Acidic for a lot of things, but since we're in the same place most of the time we both get it," He said laughing.
After five or so minutes, the combat instructor had everyone to return to the bleachers. Legend and Curse took their seats on the upper half before Ms. Goodwitch's commanding voice rang throughout the room. "Alright everyone, it's time for the sparing session to begin. Are their any volunteers for the first match up?"
Curse's hand shot up. "Real eager to get back into this, huh?" "Just be sure to record it, we both know I have a point to prove to Rav."
“Curse,” she called.
"Go for it," Legend encouraged while pulling out his scroll and activating the camera. "Don't need to tell me twice." Curse patted the blades on his hip before walking down to the arena, confident smirk on his face. ((note: i do not have his weapon planned so this might change in the future))
To say Legend was impressed by how quick the match was would be an understatement. He, along with everyone else, watched as Curse seemingly almost never touched the ground and disarmed ((heh)) his opponent in under 30 seconds, which was impressive, but what made it jaw-dropping was that knowing this purple-eyed wonder had taken an entire month off from school and hadn't trained with any known Huntsmen or Huntresses during that time. Especially considering he had dropped out for a while in the first place was because his cousin - another fantastical Huntsman-in-training - was badly injured; he had taken time off to care for him.
But who know anyway? Curse is excellent at keeping to himself.
The student in question walked back to his seat with a very proud posture and a smug look on his face. The only thing he told Legend before sitting down was "What did I tell ya?"
"Psh, you weren't telling me, I believed ya." "You're mouth hanging open after the match said otherwise." The blondie smirked and landed a playful punch on his cousin's shoulder as the former laughed at Legend's action before taking a seat.
A few more matches later, Legend decided to take a shot on the arena floor. His hand went up the same time another student did as well. When Ms. Goodwitch approved of them both, murmurs spread throughout the room. The old rivals were going back at it, and the crowd - even Curse, who even pulled out his scroll like many other students - instantly knew that this was going to be an entertaining match up indeed.
"This match will be Legend versus Warriors! Please make your way down to the floor!"
The two friends searched the room for blond hair and blue cloth and found Warriors beginning to make his way down the bleachers to the arena. "This is it," Curse and Legend said at the same time.
"Kick his butt."
The later high-fived the former and walked down the steps to the floor.
The room was buzzing with anticipation as the rivals stepped down the stairs and positioned themselves in front of each other and assumed their combat stances.
"3!"
Legend's eyes met Warriors'; both knew there wouldn't be much holding back.
"2!"
Legend felt the Dust in his boots pulse,
"1!"
Readied his semblance.
“GO!”
Legend activated the Gravity Dust in his boots a quarter of a second before sprinting at Warriors, who he got to in under a second and attempted to roundhouse kick him, but his foot was met with a titanium shield. It still knocked Warriors to the side though. Legend saw an opening and his sole connected with the other's stomach at an incredible speed, sending him flying with much force. But Warriors was ready. He landed his feet on the wall Legend kicked him towards before jumping off towards his opponent while firing the Desert Eagle that was in his shield for distance.
((yes I upgraded War's weapon a while ago but never put it on the comp.)) Legend glared at Warriors and readied his Fire Dust, but the later held out his shield arm and fired in the Legend's direction. Legend jumped to the side and scoffed at himself for not keeping Gravity mode on. Warriors rolled when he landed (Legend knew from experience it was to ensure a softer landing, but then he sort of thought it was for showing off) before aiming at his rival and once again pulling the trigger.
The shorter of the two side stepped the shot before it was even made and switched his boots back to Gravity mode before jumping onto his opponent, which worked to some degree. Legend just didn't think he'd be landing on Warriors' shield then sent soaring from jumping off while being parried.
Legend glanced down mid-air to see if he could catch any glimpses of his opponent. He did.
Warriors had drawn his sword and an aura slash was being sent his way.
Legend's eyes widened as soon as he saw it which was instantly followed by what felt like concrete crashing into him.
Even with the wind knocked out of him, he tried to concentrate and figure out what he could do to keep himself from being ragdolled into the wall.
A lightbulb went off in Legend's head and he set his boots to their Wind Dust setting before kicking twice as hard as he could to slow himself. It worked! The duo-hair-colored fighter then turned the Ice Dust setting on and created a plate of ice underneath his feet. Legend pushed off of the ice to redirect himself, shattering it, and keeping Ice mode on, roundhoused in mid-air, sending 5 ice spikes in Warriors' direction.
Warriors jumped back just before the ice pierced him and as he did, the other Link had created another chunk of ice, this time thicker. The boy clad in red jumped off this one too, this time right at the one in blue; and when the ice shattered, 9 long, thin pieces of aura-infused ice were sent sailing at his opponent.Legend knew Warriors would have to put his shield up for this attack, so he readied his Fire Dust in prep for landing on or in front of him.
The student with the blue scarf, had in fact raised his shield, but was well aware of what his opponent was trying to do, so he side stepped at the last possible second and saw a flare of fire go off next to him. Could even feel the heat. Warriors moved to bring his sword down on Legend, but the later moved out of the way without a moment's hesitation. Legend then switched feet and kicked a wave of fire towards his rival, who whipped his shield back up.
The Dust user of the two sped towards Warriors on Gravity; Warriors dodged before spinning on the ball of his foot and slashing horizontally. Legend jumped up to avoid it and sent a fireball in his opponents' direction who responded by shooting the fireball, causing a small-ish explosion. Warriors readied his shield once more and ended up skidding back a few feet from the force, while Legend created another ice barrier to shield himself and bounce off of before landing on his feet.
Legend changed back to Gravity and sailed over the floor towards Warriors, who swung downwards, but Legend cartwheeled back just in time for the Gravity-infused soles of his boots to come in contact with Warrior's blade, making it bounce and causing the later loose a bit of his footing. But he recovered quickly and sent an up-swinging aura slash to Legend, who bounced out of it's path as fast as he could.
Legend redirected himself and jumped up higher than normal from the Dust and sent consecutive fire, wind, and ice kicks Warriors' way, all in mid air, but the fighter in blue had his shield up for all three. The blondie with the hat stomped as he hit the ground, which sent a trail of ice spikes in Warrior's direction; he destroyed it with another aura slash.
Legend's heart was racing faster than ever as he watched the blue-green glaze of Warrior's aura leave his body thin out and reshape itself to the shape of a large, smooth, outward curving triangle. This was it; Warriors' semblance, Shield Slinger.
Warriors' aura spun around himself once before it's thin edge came straight for Legend. Legend jumped back and continued to evade the spinning attacks until he decided to switch back to Gravity Dust again and jumped as high as he could. It's common knowledge at this point that when using his semblance, Warriors is, physically, wide open. The question is though, how to attack him when his aura moves at an impossibly fast speed?
The idea hit Legend like a truck.
The student warrior in red turned his body so that he was facing opposite of the wall Warriors had been pushing him towards, and facing down, but not directly. He then switched to Ice mode and created an ice platform once more to push off of. He bounced off with Gravity, turned in a completely different direction, and bounced off another Ice platform using the Gravity Dust. And another. And another. And another still.
After much of the ricocheting, Legend had completely rendered Warriors incapable of guessing where he would come from next.
One more time.
Legend made one last plate of ice near the ground before leaping towards Warriors with all possible force, simultaneously activating all 4 types of Dust in his boots.
His final attack landed.
On a titanium shield.
Warriors had put up his normal shield just in time, but that didn't mean he wasn't sent flying. A powerful force was felt by all as Legend's feet connected with the shield, and the student in blue was launched across the arena, and tumbled as he landed, too stunned to respond as quickly as what was required of him to break his fall.
And as this happened, the buzzer rang out, signifying that both Warrior's and Legend's aura levels were in the red.
"It's a tie!" Ms. Goodwitch announced.
Legend collapsed from exhaustion and Warriors began to stir as the room erupted into applause and compliments, some coming down form the bleachers to help the two stand up. Legend felt his left arm be lifted around a shoulder, feeling himself pulled up both by his arm and right side.
"You were completely and utterly spectacular!" Curse beamed as he aided his friend. "All the ricocheting you did around Warriors to keep him from guessing your moves was especially brilliant!" Legend smirked. "At least we both know I won." "That you did," Curse laughed.
They turned their attention to the group of people that had surrounded themselves, Legend thanking everyone for praise and constructive criticism alike before glancing at the piers that were around Warriors.
"You think he'll still let us take him and his little brother out for an afternoon snack after that?" "This is Warriors we're talking about, of course he'll accept, even if you still whipped him."
