Psycho Krieg | End Credits
Borderlands 3 DLC 4
"Look, I've been at this as long as anybody. I could tell you a hundred stories of the fortunes I've lost, the mates I've hurt, the times I was done. But I won't waste your time, because all those stories end the same: I kept goin'. If I'd stopped after the first tragedy, I'd've never had anything nice enough for a second one! They're all worth it, every time."

I just saw this on Reddit...
real facts
Hey y’all, I got to talking with @pandoran-rogue the other night and I ended up going on a meta/headcanon/theorycrafting rant as for why Evil Brick and Evil Mordecai act the way they do so here it is
Part 1: Understanding a Psycho
It has been established many times in the Borderlands universe that Psychos are a very uniform and defined type of enemy. All of them dress the same, and all of them have the Vault symbol on specific masks, which are now collectively referred to as Psycho Masks.
It is repeatedly stated that nearly all bandits are insane and crazy, but they all speak somewhat coherently and are more defined by Bloodlust (Marauders), Greed (Nomads), Arrogance (Bruisers), and Stupidity (Goliaths), as well as a shared trauma and collective pain and misery because of corporations, imprisonment, and the military-industrial complex as a whole.
Psychos, however, have a much less tangible but much more uniform trauma in the form of The Psychoreaver and Vaulthalla, both being basises for their masks and personalities. Yes, each psycho has their own history, mannerisms, and likely dreams and desires, but the implication of The Psychoreaver and even its effect on SANE Krieg puts the Psychos in a different light; they are pure manifestations of Psychoreaver’s bloodlust, wrath, and *power*. Psychos have their own *culture*, completely different from Bandits, and unlike the other Bandits, could care less about money or loot; they are little more than flesh walls that join up with Bandit Gangs to simply *kill*.
In this sense, Psycho culture and society is based almost entirely around their unique affliction, their love of battle, and overwhelming wrath and hatred which has crossed the line into such violent tendencies that they worship flesh, limbs, organs, and such.
Part 2: Krieg and Psycho Culture
It is EXPLICITLY stated in the beginning of DLC4 that Psycho Krieg has almost complete control over the Mindscape, which is why there are so many enemies and things trying to kill you, as well as the Fleshy, disturbing, non-euclidean architecture. Psycho Krieg is on full display during this DLC, and as it is mostly a character study, we are given ample opportunity to examine Krieg’s likes, dislikes, and everything. This is why the most recurring quote surrounding the DLC is “what makes a psycho tick?”. You are literally finding it out through immersive storytelling and your own critical thought.
The answer, in my opinion, is unrelenting violence. The rage and hatred come second for all except for the Psychoreaver itself, as they are much beyond the point of simple rage. Now, examine Krieg’s fighting style; while he can respect guns and acknowledges the need for ballistic weapons, he is obsessed with causing as much carnage as he can by using his body as a weapon. The sickening ‘squelch’ of gore, the explosions of limbs, it is what he worships. The comparisons of Krieg to Brick have always been there; massive men with a love for a different brand of violence than the other Vault Hunters.
Part 3: Evil Brick and Mordy
To Krieg, Brick has it all figured out. Krieg is not materialistic, at all; he LIVES for combat and living life to the fullest. Brick HATES standing back and shooting and always rushes in to feel the thrills and crush enemies; to Krieg, Brick *understands the meaning of life*. Of course he would see Brick as so unbelievably intelligent. Evil Brick’s cruelty towards Krieg is not because of Krieg’s violence, but because of Krieg’s insecurities of his relative inexperience compared to Brick; Brick is the perfect killing machine, and Krieg is only good in comparison, at least in Krieg’s eyes.
Now, Mordecai. Again, Krieg respects the usage of guns and ballistics, but methods of combat tell him most of what he needs to know about someone; for a frontline fighter who relishes in the feeling of blood and wears as little clothing as possible, Mordecai’s style of cold sniping and letting his pets do most of the work (in Krieg’s opinion) means Mordecai is a submissive idiot who, thanks to their frequence in being together, is associated with Brick completely to Krieg; if Brick is the dominant, intelligent Alpha, then Mordecai must be the more submissive, dumb, Beta. It is also telling that Evil Mordecai says “I’m married to a bird”. Krieg respects Mordecai’s birds, since they are ruthless hunters who leave blood and gore everywhere; they are, in comparison to Mordecai, the breadwinners of the duo and as such, Mordecai CANNOT live without them, thus the metaphor of marriage. The “idiot” parts of Mordecai can more efficiently be explained through, again, Krieg’s own insecurities, this time about the way he talks. Something interesting about Mordecai is he has VERY insistent terminology on things and feels a need to correct people who are wrong on occassion; of course someone like Krieg who doesn’t talk like “a normal person” would feel insecure, even if Mordecai isn’t actually like that.
Thanks for reading feel free to add on <3
What I can't get over is the broken heart drawn on his chest plate
Oh my god Krieg was part of the B-team
