OFFICIAL DOUBLE LIFE SECRET SOULMATES POST TO EXPLAIN THE PLOT

I will state nothing but facts here for other fans to interpret.

- Grian finds out Scar is his soulmate. He’s devastated by this but obviously tries to keep him alive, not telling him that he’s his soulmate until the end of the first session

- Important to note that when Grian was still trying to find his soulmate and tested with BigB, upon finding out they weren’t soulmates Grian said he had “never felt so heartbroken”

- Scar, upon finding out Grian is his soulmate, doesn’t really care about that much, already insisting the Jellies are his soulmate and it was even his thumbnail. He lets Grian drag him to his new home but doesn’t make any other efforts to work with him

- Eventually, Grian decides he wants a new soulmate, and sneaks into Box with the intention to “steal Ren’s man”

- By chance, BigB finds the heart and cookies before Ren does, and takes down the evidence as instructed so Ren won’t find it. He is on board with having a secret soulmate.

- BigB ends up being unable to hide things from his soulmate, he just can’t stand to lie to him, so he tells Ren about the secret soulmate, not revealing who it is but telling him that he has one

- Ren seems to misread the situation and believes BigB just has a secret admirer, which he declares is okay, because they can “look but not touch”

- BigB then of course misunderstands believing that Ren thinks this whole thing is okay to Ren, which I don’t blame him for because he DID explain things that (spoilers) Ren gets upset about later. But also Ren definitely somehow misunderstood, and maybe BigB should’ve caught onto what he was saying.

- BigB and Grian hang out as secret soulmates, BigB telling Grian that Ren doesn’t know who it is, but that he couldn’t hide it from Ren (“you know me”)

- Eventually the Relationship Ranch happens. BigB and Ren go there and despite getting into a few fights and failing some games, things seem to be going okay at the end… until BigB mentions that he saw his secret soulmate. Side note, I freaking love that part, Scott’s like “okay I’ll just step away to evaluate your score” and talks to his audience like “yeah I think I’ll tell them they need to work through some things” and as soon as he comes back Ren is yelling “YOU SAW THE SECRET ADMIRER?!” and Scott’s just like “oh that changes some things”

- Ren logs off in a fit of heartbreak. BigB then celebrates. After returning home he cries about it. He doesn’t want to lose Ren

- Grian and BigB continue to see each other, exchanging goods. Scar sees them at some point.

- btw, I forgot about the Broken Hearts Club, but I will say, you’re all probably thinking it happens after the Relationship Ranch. It doesn’t. Ren joined BEFORE that. Why? Because he went home and BigB wasn’t there once 😭 he came back later and Ren was happy again. Back to the plot

- Ren and BigB, who are now red, are forced back together. Neither one really wants to leave the other so it’s pretty awkward, until BigB reveals the gifts Grian gave him (that he wasn’t supposed to share with Ren I think. He of course cannot hide things from Ren and loves Ren so he shares them with Ren). Ren suddenly changes his mind on the whole secret soulmate thing, and decides he likes it and BigB should continue to see them.

- Scar gives Grian some cookies “for his secret soulmate” as you know an iconic call out line. I will say he literally did not care about anything Grian was doing up until this point. They do not discuss this further, Grian denying he has one.

- Grian Freaking Kills Ren (Which Kills BigB Too)

- As ghosts, Ren says that he and BigB were “loyal to each other till the very end”

- Grian holds a funeral for BigB. BigB as a ghost accepts Grian’s apology and forgives him. Grian declares they are “still secret soulmates”

And that is the entire Secret Soulmate Drama summarized. If I got anything wrong, let me know.

Okay so if Ren is a dog hybrid like his name implies and Pearl's character is a "wet cat" as described by the CC and the two don't like each other.............

“You left me dude!” Ren yelled, his heart broken, his thoughts racing, his life, red.

“I’m sorry Ren, I really am! I’ve said it over and over again, to the point that it doesn’t even seem like words anymore!” Bigb shot back, his newly acquired ears flattened on his head, his arms held out to express his distress better.

“You left for a secret admirer! You wouldn’t tell me who it was and yet you met with them? How can I trust you if you wont even tell me who it is? As well if you know who they are why did you allow them to take you away from me?” Ren questioned more huffing, he was angry, sad, and felt betrayed by the one person he thought he could trust for the rest of his life.

Bigb didn’t respond, guilt painted on his face, his arms wrapped around his torso in a self hug, his ears flat against his head, tail tucked closely behind him. Box had never felt so foreign to him than in this moment. Bigb had glued his eyes to the ground, the mere thought of seeing how upset Ren is, was more than enough to make him feel like it was the wrong choice to have met up with Grian. He loved Ren, of course he did, he would do so much to help, he didn’t want to lie which is why he told Ren about the admirer in the first place. It was supposed to be a sign of just how much he cared. To proove he wouldn’t lie, sure he might have hid the evidence in the moment but, that was for Grian’s safety. They’re both red lives and Ren has always made it to the finals, he knows how powerful Ren can be. But those are all just reasons he couldn’t form any words, couldn’t form his racing guilt filled thoughts into any type of sentence. Bigb had no idea what to say to Ren. Because Ren was right, he did leave his side to meet up with the admirer and, he won’t even explain who that admirer is, he formed a secret soulmate, which technically was leaving Ren behind.

“So, that’s how it’s going to be then?” Ren spoke, breaking the silence that was hanging over the two. “You’re going to go off with your admirer?” He questioned, the sound of sadness had filled Ren’s words much like a glass about to spill over.

“I’m sorry, Ren…” Bigb spoke softly, just above a whisper, he couldn’t say anything else. What would he say? That Ren was right? That he was happy to be away from Box and hanging around Grian instead?

“I’m sorry too, Bigb. I’m sorry that I wasn’t enough for you.” Ren stated darkly, his sadness had turned into a new brewing anger, as he grabbed his things and walked out the doors. Ren left Box, unsure if he was ever going back.

Bigb watched as Ren left, he wanted to say something, anything, but he had no words. All he had were flash backs to the last time he caused someone to leave. Someone he had cared for and was ready to protect with his life, and yet, he did something to cause them to leave. Bigb took off the sunglasses that he got to match Ren’s, looking at them for a moment, to only drop them to the ground. Heading out the door, Bigb had decided he needed to talk with someone, and the only person he could think of was Grian, so to Grian he went.

YES i want to hear what pokemon the last-lifers would be

OKAY okay okay i had SOOO much fun doing this, i spent hours looking through my pokemon book and even looking up some when i couldn't find one that matched perfectly. Some of these are based off of vibes and favoritism of pokemon, but i swear that i have great reasons for every pokemon i chose and i put real thought behind these. We’ll go in order of the pokemon alphabetically. !!Also, I have to make this in two posts bc of the ten-image limit. !! Ok? Ok!

Jimmy -> Absol (Dark Pokemon)

Ok this is literally the y/n pokemon. It even gets wings in its mega evolution!! But it matches jimmy for one important reason: the Absol showing up is a sign that a disaster is about to happen. Y’know, like a canary. (Fun fact: there is no canary pokemon, which is vv surprising to me.) Anyways the absol’s mega evolution can kill people by flapping its wings at them LOL. smth smth grian in 100hrs and all that

2. Martyn -> Chesnaught (Grass-Fighting Pokemon)

There are two reasons why I chose Chesnaught for martyn. One, i wanted him to be a grass type, bc idk he wears green!! It fits him. And two, i wanted him to be loyal. The enty for this pokemon says, “When its friends are in trouble, Chesnaught uses its own body as a shield. Its shell is tough enough to protect it from a powerful explosion.” So. that seems pretty loyal to me. I almost chose Sawsbuck, the deer pokemon, because it changes with the season and Martyn used to do that (his main skin is technically his “spring skin”, but i thought going for smth more focused on loyalty would be best.

3. Tango - Cyndaquil (Fire Pokemon)

I HAD to make tango a fire type, you know i couldnt not. This is an example of my favoritism, bc honestly i could have chosen any other fire type pokemon, but this ones always been my favorite. Anyways, this guy’s flames get hotter with its emotions, and prone to angry outbursts (cough cough last life lmao).

4. Joel -> Gengar (Ghost-Poison Pokemon)

I chose this guy simply bc of how SKRUNKLY he is. The bulbapedia describes him as, “… very mischievous, and at times, malicious. It enjoys playing practical jokes and casting curses, such as pretending to be one's shadow, then behaving erratically.” Very joel-y, in my opinion.

5. Ren -> Houndoom (Dark-Fire Pokemon)

This one was interesting. Theres no end to dog pokemon, but this one in particular was listed as loyal (It cooperates with others skillfully. When it becomes your partner, it's very loyal to you as its Trainer and will obey your orders) Seeing how in third and last life ren was ride-or-die with his chosen team, i thought this one was best. Also, its SUPER edgy so i thought it fit, given his tendency for dramatics (/lh). A high contender for Ren was the Aegislash, a sword pokemon that was commonly used by royalty, but its lore was a taaad too regicidal – and honestly, homicidal in general – to make the cut. (no pun intended)

6. Etho -> Lucario (Fighting-Steel Pokemon)

When i was choosing a pokemon for etho, i knew for a fact i wanted it to be a fighting type. This pokemon can sense the auras around people and pokemon and predict their movements. Etho has always felt like a very strategic guy to me, thought tbh im not sure if that was propaganda from the ethogirls or if its from my own perception of the guy. Anyways, they seemed to match each other. I almost chose the Oshawatt, bc idk i like the vibes, but it wasnt a fighting type.

7. Scott -> Lurantis (Grass Pokemon)

When looking for a pokemon for scott i wanted it to be some sort of flower-like pokemon, with the whole flower husbands and his love for cute things, but i wanted it to have a solid head on its shoulders. This pokemon is based off of the Orchid mantis, which i have been fascinated with for ages. It looks so pretty!! Anyways, this pokemon both looks like a flower and is known for its “elegant moves”. It is also very discerning when it comes to who it is loyal to. If you dont take care of it well enough, it wont trust you. I feel like that works for Scott a lot because he wont team up with anyone unless he really thinks its worth it.
