Hi! Mr Clover Here. My Music Video, 301 Angelz came out, and it's been very exciting! I wrote that coming home from College during the first semester of my sophomore year. Me and my producers were finalizing the album we made called Greedy Geek Monster. I was messing around with how to promote it and wanted to make some loosies to give people the feel of the project. I came up with the synths, and the song ended up growing legs. So I was running with it, and I loved the texture I was constantly putting in different synths in the music to make it grand. I sent the beat over to PTown because I couldn't figure out the drums, and he gave it so much sauce it was awesome.
When writing my first verse, I wanted to make a song that felt fun and engaging but provided perspective, like rapping like Uzi and thinking like Nas. That's why the beginning verse has such a fast rhythm, and I play with different voices and rap in a DMV-inspired way to reel the listener in. The First verse is me explaining my view on the mentality from where I live. Talking about the crab in the bucket mentality I would sometimes see in Maryland and using depictions of angels and monsters to talk about the violence that sometimes happens here and a bit of that grief in other symbolism (hundred bands in the sky, A trumpet a tear, we stay close).
When it came to my second verse, it was a culmination of grief and emotions that were building up around that time. The verse is no frills, cut and dry and in your face. It felt necessary for catharsis and as the final song of my project. It has some of my favorite lines I've written. "I cried a thousand words and saw a rainbow when I opened Eyes" and "Romanticize the grey either that or hold the colors blind" are so poetic to me and things I still take away from that song.
This little thing is my baby, although wanting it on streaming is a bit weird right now, I hope you guys can show it some love.
