Okay so I may be stupid but like when Light was in the final confrontation

Could he not just like- give up the deathnote?

I know it’s probably his pride or ego or some shit but like, would Near really arrest him without his memories cuz I feel like he would be pissed abt it but it wouldn’t be winning to him to just lock up Light who is no longer Kira

Even L was forced to concede when Light gives up his memories that Light couldn’t be Kira even though he knew that he was.
