For dnd you are going to want to get the rulebook, which you can buy or find online. Anyflip.com usually has copies of 5th edition players handbook (which teaches you the rules as a player). If you want to play dnd, its worth trying to find groups online, or drag your friends into the dnd pit with you and get the ball rolling. Online boards, lfg (looking for group) boards, local groups (via facebook) or even reddit have options for finding people for in person or online games. Also you will need dice, which are quite cheap, or you can use online dice rollers.

Also, dndbeyond is a good starting website for new players, it has an easy character creation, but limits your options so you have to pay money to play certain subclasses or races.

Honestly, poke around online, see what happens. Hope this helps

This is my own firbolg Druid called Juniper with her badger Jinn. She’s a wholesome sweetheart with a northern accent, loves everyone yet thanks to a cursed trident (Drown) she has a short temper and requires all the best loot.

Hopefully More help for Beginners to D&D - I found it a minefield when I first started, so hopefully this will help other novices (and my new players)

EDIT: These are the house rules that we follow when I’m the DM for my group as I use critical fails and success for fun flavour: 

In 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, rolling a natural 1 or 20 doesn’t necessarily mean a critical failure or success outside of attack rolls. (It’s not the standard.) A crit fail on an attack roll isn’t 5e standard either– penalties don’t inherently occur on a 1.

Yo so I wanna get into DnD but I have absolutely no idea where to start

Like all I have is one set of dice, but I read in some places that I might need more than that, and I created a character in DnD Beyond, and even then there are some slots I don’t know how to fill out correctly or fill out in a way that will suffice the best for a session.

I know there’s a lot of rules for every aspect of playing the game,so I’d need to figure all that out too.

So if I could get advice from you people or if I could get a link to some Manuel or handbook that explains everything, it’d be a lot of help. Yeah I have nowhere to start.
