AU no one asked for: the Teens immediately fail so these idiots save the world

Hermie: The warlock replacement of the group. Hasn’t yet realised that Jodie is his demonic patron and everything is primed to go very poorly when he does find out. When both his scene partner and will they-won’t they companion are stopped, Hermie decided to step up into the role of hero. For mostly self serving reasons.

I initially wanted to make him a wild magic sorcerer curtesy of scam, but it felt fun to match them up with the original teen classes

Brad Schmegan: Was Baptised, thus the cleric. Joined the group when he learned about what his father was doing.

Under explored daddy issues makes him fit in perfectly with the others

Hero Oak Swallows Garcia: Vengeance Paladin, doesn’t care to save the world but will save her brother.

Erica Drippens: Horse girl is the clear choice for a ranger. Technically not an npc and technically less daddy issues, but the character is hilarious and I Need her dynamic.

I hate the “it was all a dream” trope UNTIL it’s an AU.

So anyways—

Dungeons and daddies season one au where everyone’s alive and happy

Instead of driving through a portal on the way to the soccer game, the Honda Odyssey just straight up crashes

The plot of the podcast is just this weird (maybe magically induced) shared dream between the dads while they’re unconscious right after the crash.

Everyone’s fine except the kids (who didn’t have the dream) are just weirded out by how different their dads are acting… and why they’re all suddenly best friends?

Grants got Daryle trying to get him to open up more and actually talk about their feelings

His dad also suddenly has gaydar

Terry has Ron who overnight has gained the ability to at least somewhat be a parent

Lark and sparrow are actually being wrangled by their dad for once (not without love, of course)

And then there’s Nick and Glenn. OH BOY

first of all, it’s the 2nd car accident in the Close family so they’re both a little freaked out for different reasons

And maybe Nick kind of uses it as an excuse for why his dad is suddenly trying to be a present parent in his life

And all the dads are freaking out because for the last few months they’ve had to deal with almost dying every day, loosing their kids repeatedly (or permanently if you’re Glenn), having magic abilities, facing childhood trauma, loosing the ability to wear pants, and running completely on empty

And now none of that is real and everything’s okay but also they’re kind of not

But hey, at least they’re better dads now…yay

Also in this AU, Glenn and Jodie (the real Jodie, not the realm dream AU Jodie) are estranged brothers because I think it’s really funny for Glenn to go through all of the weird dream-induced “Narcolas” stuff and have his first thought be “I need to get back in touch with my loser traffic cop brother.”

Nick is not pleased at finding out his uncle is a cop.

The most chill child of divorce like—ever.

Glenn’s parents divorced really early in her childhood and it didn’t really affect her. She would see her mother on weekends because she travelled the world and was happy with the arrangement.

Glenn considered her childhood ‘fun’ ; as long as you don’t count the moments she would exclude herself from extracurriculars because she didn’t want to be the kid without her mom there. But that’s cool, she didn’t wanna do band anyway.

Billie was her idol, her role model despite her father’s attempts to mold Glenn into a better person than her mother.

Glenn was simply obsessed with the rockstar lifestyle. She was convinced that if she was also a rockstar, then maybe she and her mother could be a duo, best friends.

Glenn devoted her life to her guitar, music was her out. Her father was always there to offer her help, but she didn’t want her father. Glenn felt the invisible string of the umbilical cord, tying her to her wayward mother off in the distant concert lights. She wanted to see what was worth leaving your family for.

When Glenn got married, it was the first time her mother had ever missed an event. Glenn was crushed , the only thing she ever invited her mother to, the only thing she had expected her to drop everything and attend for. Glenn didn’t mention this to anyone though, not even Morgan. She just stepped down the aisle and ignored the empty seat.

Nicky was born a couple months after her wedding, and Glenn had to take a hiatus from her rockstar dreams.

As she held her daughter in her arms, she couldn’t fathom how her mother did it. How she shrugged off motherhood so easily when the bundle in her arms held the very essence and beauty of rock and roll.

Glenn found out her mother died through a letter, her father was inviting her to the funeral. She attended, and left a guitar pick on her mother’s grave.

Morgan died sometime after, Glenn considered herself unlucky.

She had to provide for Nicky somehow, a show every other week transformed into a show every other night, with Nicky staying with her grandfather until she was old enough to stay home alone.

Headcanons!!

• Gets tattoos to grieve/celebrate

- Got one after Nicky was born

- Got several after Morgan died

-ask if her tattoos have meaning and she’ll stare off for a moment and then grin and say “Yeah, they mean I’m fucking cool”

• Tried to keep Nicky away from drugs initially but after she caught her smoking one day she taught her how to do it (the whole “I’d rather you do it here than somewhere else”)

• Pretends not to care as a way to get out of a situation so she can actually care in private elsewhere

• Was much like Taylor Swift in highschool and assumed she was popular but she was not at all

• Brain is up there for decoration only

After Hermie's untimely death, he's unable to get into heaven or hell without a soul. He is instead sent to the same place that Nick Close was sent after his soul was given over to Nicholas Foster. Erased from reality and stuck in what is essentially backrooms purgatory, the two not-brothers continue to avoid their emotions and any form of introspection. But if this really is a green room, then maybe there will come a moment in time where these performers are no longer left waiting and will be welcomed back onto the stage...
