Hiring and Firing
Dr. Shulman: Danny, you know it's not just you and me anymore. We decided to expand. You need to accept that. Danny: Remember when Mindy's office was used for storage? Now, that was great. I'd keep my bike there all winter. Dr. Shulman: Yes, and you adapted. Now you're fine. Danny: Fine for now, but now she's in charge of the hiring. Before long, Mindy hires another Mindy. That Mindy hires two more Mindys. And before you know it, yap yap yap. "Did you see that movie?" "Did you hear about that celebrity breakup?" Yap yap yap yap yap. I mean, where do I put my bike?
Diary of a Mad Indian Woman
Danny: Yeah, she wants me to propose by Christmas. It's not right. It's too much pressure on the Lord's birthday. I mean, you think that's crazy, right? Annette: Of course it's crazy! You should break up with her. Danny: What? No! No. I'm not doing that. We just went 50-50 on a unisex raincoat.
I don’t know what it is. I just think it’s funny how his reasons for not liking something is so simple. “Where do I put my bike?” “We just got this unisex coat!”
htlamitd / dandy / headcanon
I really did like the episode, How to Lose a Mom In Ten Days. The episode was mostly about Danny and his mom, and Morgan. It really did a good job on showing everyone in the episode and being funny! I think it's a kind of an episode that's more focused on the group than Dandy.
However, I was kind of a little disappointed. I wish it had some little Dandy thing. The episode didn't have something connected to the previous episode, Diary of a Mad Indian Women. You know that part when Danny almost left Mindy's place because he got scared of marriage and how they only dated in 7 months. In this episode, Danny and Mindy didn't talk about marriage or Danny didn't bring up little things of his fear of marriage/Christina/etc. It was mostly about Danny dealing with change ..that his mom is dating again, change of letting go some of his close relationship with his mom, and being a mama's boy.
Morgan: She got you.
Danny: She got me.
Mindy: We are going to have the best time.

Parallels - Be Cool / Diary of a Mad Indian Woman
I really like how they have shown Mindy to be restrained about the M topic (not to her diary anyway) but I think Danny is gonna be panicking as Christmas comes closer but Mindy won't know why & will be confused which will bring us to some type of gesture idk idk what do you think?
What I loved about the ending to this episode was that they showed Danny making a beginning.
He came back, which is the beginning of him trusting that Mindy is not Christina, and is the beginning of his own willingness to open himself up to thinking about his future as more than him alone (whatever form that may take).
But a beginning is not the same resolution or even progress. There is still room for Danny to shuffle backwards, spin around aimlessly (as he does when Mindy isn't there to guide him!) and generally fuck it up.
And oh, I will be very surprised if he doesn't screw up royally, and repeatedly.
After all, Danny makes his worst decisions when he's scared he'll lose Mindy from his life, and only comes around to making better ones when he feels secure in the knowledge that she loves him and that some way or another, they will be okay. The potential Loss of Mindy has been the impetus for his drunkenly screaming at her in the desert, for Be Cool, for Dr. Andy Make-Believe, and it's the reason he walked out at the end of this episode.
Knowing that she loves him and the hope that he can, in his mind, be worthy of that? Those have been his best decisions. Plane kisses. Funeral kisses. Running back to the ESB. Walking back in and demanding she move from his side of the bed.
So yeah, Anon, he'll panic. He'll take every tiny thing she says as evidence that he's not enough for her, and every fear in his heart as evidence that he can't do commitment again, that maybe, even, he's just a little bit like his dad.
But I've said it before: this show sets us up to expect big moments that will mean nothing, and small ones that will mean everything. I have no doubt there will be some kind of gesture, and I am equally certain that it will either fail or be completely irrelevant to whatever decision Danny and Mindy come to. It'll be something else, some small spark, that pushes them in the right direction. It'll be earrings in a box and whispers on a fire escape, forehead kisses on a Staten Island porch.
Whatever happens, this episode has given me faith that it will be right.
Everything about that episode was perfect.
It was not even ruined by the idiot boy hiding behind my door and making cat noises because apparently my request that I not be disturbed was too tempting to resist.
I am so, so happy right now. What is it with this show and episode 8?
