Dreaming of a Silver Moon🌙 Ch.2
Pairing: WerewolfBTSxReader
WARNINGS: No warnings for this one cause things are just getting started... unless you're afraid of cuss words
It's been a few weeks and the work day had been pretty slow a few kids and their parents came in for their regular check ups and I couldn't be more bored out of my mind like I was right now. The flow of patients had come to a standstill around noon and the office was open until five in the evening.
I had about three hours left until I could call it a day but I gave Elise, the elderly woman who runs the front desk, the rest of the day off insisting I could handle the patients that came in after she left.
"I'm serious Eli. Go home I'm sure your husband misses you since he's not here as often as before." I shoo her out the door handing her the tiny coin satchel she uses as a purse. "Bless you child, I'll tell Harry you said hello." She gingerly taps my shoulder with a sweet smile only the elderly have mastered.
I walk her to her little car when out of the corner of my eye I see something white dart through the field across from the clinic. I turn my head as quickly as I could- trying to catch a glimpse of the blur that ran through the honey colored field hardly paying any attention to the woman talking to me.
"Dear are you quite alright? Your eyes are going mad." Elise inquires leaning forward to look me in the face. I snap out of my trance a second later and meet her kind blue eyes. "I'm sorry what did you say?" We pause for a moment before the elderly woman lets out a huff of air, opening her car door and climbing in. "I worry for your sanity living all the way out there. It must be lonely sometimes." She pats my shoulder with a smirk.
Elise was right. Being out at the cabin in the literal middle of the forest was a wild concept for a young woman like me. I already get lingering stares at the grocery store, some can't even look me in the eye when they come in for their check ups the last few days. It's not like I don't hear the whispers rolling around town, I hear them loud and clear.
Some simply call me a witch, others called me the wicked witch of the woods. Ridiculous.
Maybe deciding to live in that cabin was a bad idea after all. If Linette were here she'd tell me I told you so jutting her hip out and crossing her arms over her chest like her mother always did. "I think I'll be okay Elise. Get to your husband before he calls the clinic, I already told him I was sending you home early." I smile down at her and shut the car door waving at her as she slowly makes her way out of the odd shaped parking lot.
It was almost closing time as I finished sifting through that last bit of medical records, just because the patients didn't like me doesn't mean I'm just going to ignore them medically.
I tug my coat over my shoulders the summer air getting cooler at night with a slight bite to it compared to the daytime.
As I put the last folder away when the front door slams open with a man yelling if anybody was here. I shed my coat and rush to the front desk to find a tall dark and handsome biker guy standing in front of the setting sun, his pale skin shining in the sunlight. His hazel eyes almost glowing as I got closer to him barely catching myself staring.
"Uhm, I'm sorry. I'm the new doctor here. What can I do for you?" Even though this stranger is very handsome and the smile he gives me almost turns my legs to jelly, I do my best to keep things professional but he's so difficult not to look at especially when a sultry tenor voice pierces the silence between us.
The stranger continues to look at me scanning every part of my face before I clear my throat. "I'm sorry, I'm just so used to the old man being here." He chuckles, wincing in pain bending over the counter and I noticed he was holding his torso. "Can I have a look? If you don't mind, I am a doctor after all." I giggle like a schoolgirl who just talked to her crush. Was I really trying to shamelessly flirt when he was doubled over in pain? Yes, yes I was.
He gives me a curt nod to go ahead. I bend down and lift his bloody, tattered shirt delicately because I don't have any gloves on just yet. I squint my eyes expecting the worst like a large slash across his torso or a bleeding gut but what I was not expecting to see were four decent size gashes across his toned torso. "Holy shi- you'll need a hospital for that I can't-"
The stranger grabs my forearm, his beautiful eyes bleeding into mine as I snap my head up to lock eyes with him. I stare at him a little frightened but he was being so forceful yet gentle at the same time, he had this aura about him that both terrified and soothed me at the same time.
"No hospital, please. I just need stitched up and I'll be right as rain." He grins, as he lets my arm go I have to gauge my options, if I stitch him up he'll just leave and be on his way. It'll be the most exciting thing to happen since I moved back home but I also have to take into account I don't exactly have the right material for the job. "Alright, I'll patch you up. Come with me to room four."
I swivel around in the small chair getting my needle and thread ready putting on some sterile gloves and mask. "So, did you get into a fight or something?" I ask him curiously as he jumps onto the exam table and I motion for him to take his shirt and jacket off. He chuckles darkly, his hazel eyes shining under the fluorescent lights. "Yeah, guess you could say that." I glance at him with kind eyes as I clean the blood from his wounds gently with an alcohol pad.
"I didn't get your name. Don't think I've seen you around here before." I mutter threading the needle carefully and tying it off. I stand from my chair and walk over to him. "My friends call me Jackson." He smirks as I stand in front of him with my gloved hands resting on his chest, reaching to the small metal table for the needle. "You're going to feel a slight sting, alright?"
Jackson nods, gritting his teeth in anticipation when the needle pierces his flesh and he lets out a quiet hiss of pain. I focus on my sutures doing my best not to fuck any of it up.
Gods help me... don't fuck this up woman.
I move onto the second gash on his chest a little deeper than the first one. "What's your name? I mean your first name." He huffs, sweat beading his forehead as he holds onto my hips which was causing my hands to shake a little bit. His touch was cold, borderline icy, strange for someone who was sweating his ass off.
"It's Y/n. I grew up in this town, when I saw the help wanted ad in the paper during my last day in college a few weeks ago, I decided to take the job. Harry was getting up there in age so I figured I'd help him out." I giggle a little remembering all the funny memories coming in with Linette's mom Marie, all the wild stories he would come up with on a whim always made me smile after getting my flu shot. "I see so, Harry retires and is replaced by a hot doctor fresh out of college. Remind me to say thanks next time I see him." His big toothy grin takes over his face almost blinding me as I poke the needle through the last cut just below the dip of his collar bone causing Jackson to flinch.
"Fuck, I'm sorry." I mumble and finish the last stitch quickly tying it off and throwing the needle in the biohazard bin with everything else I used. "It's alright, you can make it up by having dinner with me. Is tonight okay?" I look up at him from across the tiny room with wide eyes.
I haven't been asked out for a long time, in fact the last guy I went out with was a total jerk. He had a very stern view on women which was they stayed in the kitchen and did everything their man told them to do and keep the house clean.
"Yeah, tonight would be alright. Where did you have in mind?" I ask curiously, handing Jackson a spare scrub top to wear. He stands from the table easily towering over me, making the little hairs on the back of my neck stand up. "I heard Buck's down the street is pretty good. Pick you up at eight?" He winks at me slipping his leather jacket over his broad shoulders, fixing his dark dirty blonde hair in the process. I give him a nod a little loss for words as the walking demi-god walks pass me and I trail behind him to give him directions to the cabin.
I've been in my room trying to figure out what to wear. "Take it easy woman, it's just dinner. With a very, very handsome mystery man." The gears in my head start turning, all I got from him was his name, nothing else.
What was he doing coming to the clinic with not one but four large gashes on his chest? What in the hell kind of fight was he in? So many questions so little answers, I'll have to ask him in a few hours.
Meanwhile I had an outfit to pick out. Fuck my life.
I finally decide on some black leggings with a big sweater covered in little ghosts and pumpkins, with a pair of black combat boots. My hair was curled loosely and my wide brim hat sat delicately on top of my head, my bracelets hang against my wrists and my fingers hold a few little rings I had found at an art festival back in college a few years ago. I take one look at myself into the mirror by my bedroom window and fix my lip stick, taking a final last glance before I grab my purse and head downstairs.
I walk around the kitchen to make myself some tea, listening to the weather channel while I wait for Jackson to show up. I take my mug and walk out of the side door around to the back part of the property. I see a few dark storm clouds rolling in but it shouldn't be anything to worry about just yet, the weatherman said it was supposed to hit later tonight so nothing should go wrong while I was out and about.
Outside was peaceful, the calm before the storm some would say. The birds had stopped chirping and everything was eerily silent as the wind blew through the tall grass and flowers. Even the willow branches were starting move with the blow of air through the valley.
I hope Jackson's okay, he came in on a motorcycle after all.
Something moves within the bushes catching my eye, setting my mug down on the nearby table I stand cautiously walking over to the banister as the bush keeps moving. I wasn't sure if it was from the wind or if something was actually inside making it rustle the leaves. As I move closer something squeals, I flinch away but bend back down sifting through the bushes until I find a little rabbit.
His back foot was caught between two branches in the bush. "Awe, I got ya little guy." The rabbit tries to run but is stopped by it's injured foot. I reach down to pick it up, gently releasing it's back paw from the branches. "See there you go. I'm no vet but I think I have some carrots in the fridge." I run my index finger between it's spotted bunny ears and walk back inside.
I rummage through the crisper drawer, taking out the bag of baby carrots and putting them in a bowl. "Surely you wouldn't mind sharing." I giggle as the bunny clumsily hops across the counter to the bowl, taking out one of the larger carrots and nibbling on it. I smile at the little creature and pluck a carrot and munch on it.
I wait for what seems like forever for Jackson to get here but he never shows up and I end up changing into my slippers and take my hat off, stoking the fire in the living room while the rain started to tink and tap against the old tin roof. I light a few candles leaving the bright lights off so I could save some money on electric. The cabin looks better bathed in candle light anyways.
I continue to go through some of my stuff from my old dorm room out in the big city. I pull out the fairy lights untangling them from one another, walk through the back door and start hanging them from the cover over the porch as the bunny shuffles in my pocket, nuzzling into my stomach which makes me sigh with a smile on my lips.
I bend down in front of the living room window to plug the lights in and the porch instantly lights up in a soft orange glow. I smile to myself the more things of my own that I add to the cabin the more it starts to feel like home.
Strangely enough when I first got here with Linette I knew I was going to be staying here, I already felt like I belonged here. I put the little spotted bunny in a small cot I had made from random fabrics I had used to cover the dishes during the move.
The rain storm was in full swing by now as I curled into the larger rocking chair with my tea mug on the tiny round table to my right against the big window looking over the field in the back. Cracking open a book about the supernatural, reading through a couple chapters about the wide range of cryptids and the different places they've been sighted in before this book was published.
I take off my reading glasses, setting them on top of the book on my lap, rubbing my tired eyes. I glance towards the rabbit that was sound asleep in it's make shift burrow and smile to myself.
Oh how I wish to be as free as him, to run around where my heart desired without a care in the world but, I had responsibilities if not to myself but to the people of the town. I take a deep breath sighing to myself as I stretch my legs, standing from the chair.
I stand out on the back porch again, taking in the calming sounds of the rain wrapping a blanket around my shoulders. Wondering why Jackson had completely ghosted me after I patched him up. He was really nice and charming too, I wonder if I had done anything to deter him from coming.
Maybe it was the cabin and the myth behind it?
I had done some digging for the last hour on my phone outside, turns out way back when this town was first founded there really was a witch who lived in this cabin, a voodoo witch. It would explain all the sticks and trinkets hanging from the ceilings and the faint markings on the floors. It looked like someone spent hours trying to scrub it but couldn't quite get all of it off.
After the witch had passed away, I thought witches lived for as long as they wanted to but, guess not. After she passed away the people who she held dear to her, kept the cabin in good shape until they disappeared completely. Leaving the towns people to take care of it which was weird considering no nobody talked about it, much less stepped near the trail leading to it.
The historical page went on to mention wolves out in the woods, wolves that would attack anyone who dared to come near the cabin. Not only that but as the years went on the wolf sightings became less and less but, it never mentioned why they eventually stopped coming around which I found odd.
Isn't the internet supposed to be endless?
It skips past a few key points that would help me understand the intense aura surrounding this place. It was like it's own little slice of paradise, far away from the sounds of the city and the small town about three miles out. A single trail in and out, a wrap around porch surrounded by beautiful flowers, tall trees and my favorite weeping willows positioned at the edge of the back field like a nature gate.
Suddenly, I hear a light tapping at the living room window, I barely catch a glimpse of an older woman wearing some old get up walk away from the window causing my stomach to do flips as I scramble through the back door into the living room to find no one. No evidence to show someone else was here, which caused my anxiety to sky rocket if it hadn't already.
I had a strange feeling growing in the pit of my stomach but seeing another person in the cabin that wasn't me is nerve racking. I look towards the front door and barely see a red dress drag itself up the stairs leaving behind a trail of smoke like mist behind it. I quickly turn around the bend and follow the strange specter up the stairs only for her to disappear through a door that wasn't there before.
I tip toe towards the door, grasping the knob and turning it. Only to find it was locked. "Oh come on, first I find out my house is haunted and now you won't let me in? Ridiculous." I scoff resting my hands on my hips looking around for a key of some kind when I reach into my pocket and feel cool metal against my finger tips.
The key I had opened the front door with had appeared in my jeans, I thought it was gone forever when it disappeared that first day. I look between the key and the door taking a deep breath while slipping it through the keyhole under the door knob. I twist it one way and then the other before it clicks.
Upon opening the door it was like I was transported back in time. The walls were lined from the same red and black markings from the kitchen. But the items hanging from the ceiling were different, they looked more like stick figures being hung by their neck. There was at least twenty of them, to my left was a small kitchenette complete with a small fireplace next to it and a protective wall located in the corner to my right with a demolished bath tub on the floor. A sudden bright light floods my vision and everything goes black.
"Hey whoa, you cheated! You clearly had rock!" Jimin argued with Taehyung on their third game of rock, paper, scissors. "Nah you just need glasses cause I obviously had scissors." Yoongi groans from across the room in the open kitchen. "Just let him go Tae. You're the one who found her anyway."
The wolf rolls his eyes when he hears Taehyung try to argue with him. "Beta, listen to alpha before he chops your dick off." Taehyung pouts, crossing his arms. Meanwhile Jimin was celebrating, bouncing up and down on his feet singing to himself that he finally gets to see her in person.
Namjoon runs in from outside having just been out on a jog around the forest doing his daily perimeter check, tugging on a pair of shorts making a b-line for the fridge. "Don't rip the door handle off this time, huh." Seokjin snickers as he passes the pack alpha who smacks his ass in the process making him yelp. "It was an accident, sue me." Namjoon rolls his eyes opening the fridge gently to appease the omega.
Hoseok and Jungkook were out hunting for fresh meat to cut up and put in the freezer for the in coming winter in a few months. They were a pretty good team, just last week they brought in a large elk. Jimin decides to sneak out the back door running through the trees shifting into his white wolf before taking off at the speed of light towards town.
Jimin lays low as he travels through the honey colored field just across from the old clinic. He sees Elise the sweet girl who moved down here to marry Harold nearly fifty plus years ago.
She was still as pretty as he remembered, she had grey hair and wrinkles now but he remembers the young girl who had helped him when his mates got a little rough with him while playing around, fracturing his wrist. She was so calm with him and the more he got to know Elise the more she reminded him of his mother, who only cared for Jimin like he was a precious gem beneath layers of sand.
Even when Jimin's mother found out he was an omega at his presentation, she never treated him any differently. Elise always knew he was different but never said anything to him, she even accepted the vague answers Jimin gave her when she asked about his family and where he was from.
Elise spots him through the letters on the window and Jimin quickly lowers his head back down to the ground. The old lady smiles to herself knowing exactly why they started coming around again, it had been many years since she had seen the white wolf though. Jimin slowly lifts his head back up when Elise and the new doctor walk out of the building.
Jimin's jaw almost drops, she looks just like her. Her hair was the same length but a different color, her body was more curved in all the right places, and her smile was still as perfect as ever.
Jimin shifts a little closer staring at her, committing her to memory. He scans her body for a second time spotting the small teeth marks on her wrist, so faint they look like two crescent moon birthmarks to the naked eye. The white wolf jerks his head, standing to his paws and running back into the forest before he could get caught by any passer by.
"It's her I'm sure of it." Jimin speaks through the open link between his pack mates. Running through the thickets and between the trees he waits for someone to answer but the line is quiet for a few minutes.
Just when he was about to repeat his words Hoseok comes through. "How sure are you Jimin?" His voice cracks a little as he answers. "My mark that sits on the inside of her left wrist. It looks like a birthmark but I know those are my canines on her skin." Jimin comes up on their cabin thirty minutes later huffing and puffing as he shifts back, pulling on a pair of boxers and jeans.
He walks through the door shameless as Jungkook saddles up next to him on the couch. One look in his big eyes and Jimin was a goner, he could never say no to their youngest. "You're sure it's her? Like really her? It's been so long since I've-" Taehyung slaps his large hand over his mates mouth giving the back of his neck a pinch.
"Easy he just got back, let the poor omega rest for a second Kook." Jungkook takes his hands off his mouth with a growl. "I hate it when you do that." He grumbles as Taehyung ruffles his shaggy hair. "Thanks for the feedback, I'll have to do it more often now." He teases bending over the couch to give him a quick peck on the lips.
"No time to rest we need to leave now." Namjoon orders with a low snarl, rushing from the bedroom down the stairs and into the living room a look of unease on his face. "We got trouble at the border. I haven't smelled one of those things this far south before." A low growl rumbles in his chest as he walks out the back door making everyone follow. "Things? What do you mean Namjoon?" Jungkook asks meticulously, shifting into his wolf form as Yoongi and Hoseok trot up the small hill. "Jin I need you to stay here in case something happens. I hope you can trust me when I say we'll be right back." Seokjin gives him a small nod before Namjoon transforms into his large wolf and takes off.
The six of them got to the perimeter of their territory within minutes, the edge of it cut off by the rushing river. Namjoon tells them to fan out as he sniffs the air. His head darts left and right tracking a blur of the creature stalking their hunting grounds. He bolts in that direction snarling dangerously- his pack following close behind, barely spotting the very thing they were chasing.
Yoongi chases the figure up a tree growling and gnashing his teeth at it. The blur laughed at him as he ran in circles high in the trees. "Stupid mutt, you can't catch me. Give up already." He chuckles slowing down just enough to perch himself up on a branch looking down at the pack of wolves circling around the tree with a wide grin on his face.
"State your business and leave. This is pack territory." Namjoon orders puffing out his chest to show dominance but the man chuckles darkly at him. "Since you asked so nicely. Name's Jasper, I'm here to grab a quick bite. Maybe I'll go for that new woman, looks like an easy meal." Taehyung and Jimin snarl, snapping their powerful jaws at him as he moved down a few branches just out of their reach. "Take it easy dogs, I'll leave the broad alone... for now."
The pack alpha stands tall telling his pack to stay back but be ready as Jasper's feet hit the ground. "I'm more of an animal blood kind of guy anyways. I'm just passing through so everyone can just calm down." Jasper raises his hands up in mock surrender silently, a satire grin on his face.
"A vampire running through wolf territory just passing through?" Yoongi scoffs. "I don't believe it for a second." The black wolf snarls, baring his teeth at the man in front of him, planting his paws.
The vampire snickers raising his head with a sly smirk on his face. "Good thing too, because I'm not alone." Jasper whistles and a few pale men emerge out of the thicket silver knives in hand. "You're missin' one." The shorter stockier vampire hisses but Jasper dismisses him, lunging forward instead, attacking the white wolf to the ground.
Jimin thrashes around in the dirt and muck underneath him, trying to throw the vampire off of his back. Yoongi and Namjoon spring forward. Yoongi rips Jasper off of his pack mates back, flinging him against a tree. Namjoon is stuck dealing with the others unable to help, gnashing his sharp teeth every time one remotely got close. "You son of a bitch!" Jasper speeds off and Yoongi chases after him leaving the others to get rid of the filth crossing their land.
Jasper stops short of the cliff just above the small out cove as the river spills over the edge into the pool below. Yoongi roars behind him gnashing his teeth as he stalks closer to the man in front of him who is trying to plead for his undead life. "Please, listen. I'm sorry for calling you a mutt back there. I swear we really are just passing through." He pleads waving his hands in front of him barely catching himself when the ledge crumbles under the heel of his foot.
"What are you running from? Abominations like you don't cross into pack territory willingly." Yoongi snaps his question at him only stopping because he wants the information out of the slimy git.
Jasper stares at the wolf before answering. "We're being hunted. I thought they were long gone but I was wrong. I've lived over two-hundred and six years but never came across them before. Guild hunters." He shivers at the thought of dying at the hands of the hunters he's only heard stories of from his elders.
Yoongi listens to him intently, gears are turning in his head, crossing things off and connecting the dots when he realizes. "You led them straight to us! You... those little rats... knew where we were, luring the hunters to our doorstep so they would kill us and you fucks could run as far as you could!" Yoongi widens his defensive stance into offense- standing tall, menacingly peering and snarling down at him.
He lifts his large paw up swiping at him and the intruder takes a nosedive off the edge of the cliff and into the water below. He scans the small out cove below the only thing he sees is the ripples in the pond. Satisfied the threat has been taken care of, the black wolf turns back towards his pack where he left them
The six of them hasten back to their home as quickly as they could as a storm rolled in from the north. Thankfully the cabin was still standing and in once piece, the pack alpha calms down enough to shift back and put some sweats on before walking inside to Seokjin cooking dinner in the kitchen quietly humming to himself. He takes a deep breath calming his racing heart as the other five hang back in the yard for a little while before the storm rolls in, standing guard.
"So those blood suckers crossed into our territory just to escape hunters?" Seokjin stands against the kitchen counter with his arms crossed as he looks between the rest of the pack. Jimin is sitting at the table leaning back in his chair. Yoongi stands against the far wall with his arms crossed as well. Taehyung and Jungkook have crashed on the couch the younger beta snoring just loud enough to let everyone know he was still breathing.
"Guild hunters to be exact, which is why when we hunt we need to go in packs of three or more. In case they're out there waiting for us. And we need to keep a closer eye on Y/n too. Gods only know what they could do if they had her." Namjoon states matter of factly with a grimace on his charming features. Everyone shifts in their seats only taking a short moment of peace to eat the food the pack omega prepared before going on a nightly patrol of the area.
I awaken in a field of pale yellow wheat sprinkled with wild flowers all throughout it, sitting up slowly shielding my eyes from the unyielding sun that hovers above me.
Someone hums a somehow familiar tune in the distance and I begin following the melody through the open field subconsciously.
It sounds like it's coming from everywhere but nowhere all at once as I reach the middle of the field. I spin in circles for what felt like forever, the world spinning the opposite direction around me, the hypnotic melody driving me insane. I clasp my hands over my ears as I try to control my breathing, kneeling into the dirt below my feet letting out a blood curdling scream.
Then suddenly environment around me fell silent as I opened my eyes cautiously to scan the area around me. The only sounds to be heard were of nature and nature alone. I stood on a wooden porch on top of stilts above the swampy water below me. I see a few alligators slink into the water off the bank to my right. A loud croak from a bullfrog to my left, the subtle crackling of a fireplace somewhere behind me.
A beautiful moment passes as I stare out into the bayou before the melody from before rears its ugly head once again. But instead of it being in a minor key, being low deep and terrifying the tune was hummed in a major key making me feel a little more at ease.
I turn around slowly expecting to find nothing but an empty house but instead in front of me stands an older woman, her head adorning a head piece of some kind, and she was dressed to the nines in jewelry and ritual garb.
I jolt backwards a little bit letting out a soft yelp. The old lady stares at me for quite some time, scanning my features, my body, even kicking my feet further apart for some unknown reason before she lifts her chin with a smile.
"Just right." She mutters clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth. I open my mouth to ask her a few questions but nothing comes out right away, I stand there opening and closing my mouth a few times before she speaks.
"Dear child you finally made it. Took you longer than expected." She says matter of factly. She saunters up to me pulling me down to her height, hugging me tightly. "We have much to discuss, you have much to learn! Or well, relearn that is." She exclaims throwing her hands in the air, her chains and hoops tinking against each other as she turns into the cabin.
I rush forwards finally able to move my feet, as I cross the threshold I feel new life whip through me and everything seems brighter, more colorful.
Scanning my surroundings I see the little trinkets and sticks lining the high ceiling like in my cabin, wherever that was right now. I was shaken to the bone none of this seemed real as I walked through this woman's home that looked so much like my own but not like it all at once.
Like back in the field when the haunted melody sounded like it was coming from every direction possible. This was just a fever dream. Jackson actually came and got me for dinner and I had one too many drinks. That didn't make much sense either because I was sober the entire time I waited for him to show up when Mama Craven appeared to me in my window.
How do I know her name without asking her?
I've never met this lady a day in my life much less seen her around town.
"I'm sorry, really I am. But where am I?" I ask her quizzically as she rounds the corner from her kitchen with two old mugs full of jasmine tea. She sets them on the table in front of her couch. Taking her spot onto the loveseat running her nimble hands over her knees a few times. "Sit child." She pats the spot next to her and I hesitantly take a seat, she hands me the mug and I take it from her. It wasn't just jasmine tea it had a hint of mint in it too and another more earthy tone to every sip.
We had spent the better half of what felt like hours talking and her answering my many questions. Most of the answers to my questions were vague, dancing around some important key points. The few things she did tell me felt like a story from another world. She told me about past lives and what they would mean in a "normal" setting.
This was anything but normal, did she put something in the tea?
She said my situation was anything but normal though, whatever that meant because like I said before she didn't really tell me. This place she lived in was something of her own design, a few things from her old cabin came with her after she died.
Now I know that she was the witch living in the house I currently reside in. I asked her why the townspeople were afraid of her, she told me they never bothered her until this young witch who was used and abused by her uncle released some of the power held deep within her.
It was a complete accident, she didn't mean to do it in the first place. Then the townspeople got involved and basically hunted her down. She didn't tell me if the girl survived or not I guess if it was a local legend I'd have to find out for myself when I got back.
"This is fucking crazy, you're crazy! This whole conversation is bat shit insane!" I point at her trying to keep my composure, standing from the couch patting down my shirt that I had spilled tea on a moment ago. "This isn't real, I put too much whiskey in my tea. How do I get back? Send me back, please" I ask with my anxiety on high alert, pinching my arm hard only to open my eyes to the same open door in front of me.
Mama takes a step towards me trying to get me to understand but I couldn't even look at her. "Lady listen, as much as I would like to believe any of this," I pause for a moment walking outside, I begin to hyperventilate and tug at my hair. Mama comes up behind me laying her hand on my shoulder, somehow my anxiety that was just running rapidly through my head subsided long enough for me to think coherently.
"I know how all this must sound to you dear. You did not grow up in our time, where all creatures once existed. But please, keep an open mind when you find them... or they find you."
I open my mouth to ask her who she was talking about but my head began to spin and my vision blurred with that same white light as before, so bright I have to screw my eyes shut.
When I open my eyes again it's dark outside and I'm standing in front of the wall upstairs where the door once stood. I put my hands on my hips trying to put all the new information together not to mention where the fuck the door that was so obviously there when I got up here had moved to.
If it moved at all , maybe I'm just asking for a grippy sock vacation.
As I walk down the stairs I try to shake off the possible fact that I just had a fever dream about things I've only heard in fairy tales when I notice the storm coming down outside. I quickly slip on my heavy rain coat rushing outside to unplug the gutter system so it could drain into the nearby creek. When I make it to the one closest to the porch stairs I hear distant howling and faint shouting.
I run to the last gutter cover holding my jacket tightly around me as the rain starts to come down harder. "Damn it! Come on you stupid, sorry son of a-!" I tug and pull on the plastic covering hard enough to send me backwards landing on my ass with a broken cover in my hand when I catch a glimpse of flashlights shining in the distance, more howling and what sounds like whole branches snapping.
I scramble to my feet and through the mud leaving my shoes at the back door before fumbling inside. All those noises scared the shit out of me, I was warned about the wolves in the woods but nothing about people hunting them for sport. I slam the door shut, locking it before leaning against it to catch my breath. Those snapping branches were a little too close for my own comfort. Who could be hunting at this time of night? In this storm nonetheless, I sure as hell wouldn't be out in all this that's for damn sure.
I shake the thoughts from my head as I stand up shedding my jacket and setting it on the nearby hook. I walk into the kitchen to make myself some tea and stand against the kitchen counter thinking about everything that's happened in the last I don't know how many hours. First a stranger barrels through the clinic doors, bleeding quite a lot, begging me not to send him to a hospital.
After I had reluctantly stitched him up, battling with myself if he should've gone to the city hospital instead, we got to know a little bit about each other. He was quite handsome and charming too, he reminded me of an old boyfriend of mine that used to go surfing all the time during spring break. Although his skin was unnaturally pale to be someone who spent every waking moment outside, from sun up to sun down.
Then there was the fever dream waiting on Jackson to pick me up for dinner. What was all that about anyway? I felt my finger tips yet I felt like my body wasn't there at the same time. I look down kicking invisible dirt with the tips of my slippers as the water in the kettle begins to boil, I move my mug next to the stove putting in the tea bag. I pour myself a large mug of tea, taking a relaxing sip as I make my way to the living room when a loud bang hits my back wall next to the door.
What sounds like two different pairs of foot steps are circling the wrap around porch to the front. Another loud bang hits the front door this time and I drop my mug onto the carpet, the tea soaking into the fibers.
Bolting upstairs to my bedroom I quickly shut the door, pulling a muscle in my previously injured knee causing me to hobble to my bed scared for my life of whoever or whatever is behind my front door that desperately wanted in.
"We have a problem." Taehyung rushes inside the cabin near the perimeter of their territory having just gotten back from scouting out the decently sized campout of a few of hunters that had been tracking the two vampires just a few hours ago. "Problem? What problem?" Namjoon growls standing up from the couch in the living room, stalking towards a very shaken beta. "And by that I mean, I heard them talking about an ambush tonight on the cabin." Namjoon bares his teeth, flashing his sharp incisors out of annoyance as the gears in his head turn rapidly.
Taehyung notices the pack alpha's distress and grabs his forearm making Namjoon's hard gaze snap back to him. "They don't know about her, do they?" His gaze falls from Taehyung and onto the floor darting to every speck of dust or dirt in an attempt to collect his thoughts.
Y/n's cabin was protected by centuries of magic even if they knew where she was or who she was, they would need a witch of the same bloodline as the witch who casted it in the first place. They would need a direct descendant of Mama Craven and as far as Namjoon knew, she didn't have any children in the years they had known her.
"Even if they did, it wouldn't matter. The magic around the property protects her and the things inside." Namjoon states a faint smile cracking his stern gaze and Taehyung releases his arm. "That's true. They would need a witch of the same blood. Mama Craven didn't have any kids did she?" Namjoon shakes his head no, much to Taehyung's relief as he releases his shirt he had crumpled in his large fist. Seokjin clambers down there stairs half dressed. He looks spooked to say the least, with his tooth brush hanging out of his mouth.
"I'm seeing little flashes of light..." The omega mumbles around the toothbrush, "outside of the house. They're far away but I'm seeing them, come on guys!" Seokjin pleads with the wolves in the room, spitting in the kitchen sink as he spies another bright light going through their back yard before it vanished. "That's not normal! Hunters don't just disappear like that!" He begins to freak, pointing out the window as another appears then just poofs into thin air.
"He's right about one thing. Hunters don't just dematerialize on their own." Namjoon groans leaning against the wall on the other side of the window peeking through the curtains a few more times. "I've delt with a lot of myths but, spirits? Not my main focus given the last few centuries."
Jimin rolls his eyes a little, mentally groaning at the endless amounts of useless information the pack alpha can carry if he finds something the tiniest bit interesting. "I thought dumb and dumber trailed them here? Whatever they are, they don't seem the least bit interested in us, watch." Jimin stands right against the faintly lit window so obviously in plain sight of at least four of them.
But they pay no attention to him in the window, Namjoon pulls him back down blowing the candle out for good measure. "You must have a death wish! No, I'm pretty sure you're just stupid!" Namjoon scolds his younger omega mate as the scratching of something sharp against the wall just above them screeches in their ears making them cover their ears as quickly as they could.
Jimin and Taehyung start thrashing about like there was something stabbing their ears with red hot pokers and their eyes flashed their golden yellow color with gasps of air. Whatever the loud noise was, had subsided seconds ago yet those two were in agony as their instincts began to take over.
Taehyung barely has enough cognitive thinking to link with Namjoon before he loses his grasp on reality. "Y/n's in danger, her heartstring is on fire." Is all Taehyung can manage through gritted teeth as both Jimin and himself stumble outside and shift into their wolves gnashing their teeth, fur bristled sharply as they feel Y/n's distress thrumming against their hearts. The fur on their backs like spikes standing on end.
They had never quite been able to feel her, not like this at least. Usually when the pack would see her as a child all of them could feel a feather like touch against the softest parts of their hearts but as she grew older and moved away after graduation there was a hole, it was empty like a small void nestled within each of their souls.
It wasn't until years later when Y/n had returned did that quiet hum return but it felt different, like it had been damaged somehow and stitched back together a few times.
When Taehyung saw her on the back porch of the cabin he had told himself he wouldn't come back to for years, the bond snapped in place for him.
She was beautiful, but to Taehyung she was more than beautiful she was almost ethereal to him. The way her hair fell against her shoulders when she laughed with her friend, laying one of their old shirts over the banister.
When she turned towards him their eyes locked for a split second before Taehyung bolted back into the thick brush back to their cabin. His mates would say she fell for Taehyung but he fell a lot harder.
In that same moment as the day he first saw her, that exact statement was true. Taehyung had fallen harder for the woman whose smile could outshine the sun, than she has had the chance to fall for him and all his endearing little charms all over again.
"We're right by your side, lead the way Taehyung." Namjoon let the sandy blonde wolf take the reigns leading the pack through the tall trees and thorn filled bushes blurring past each of them. Seokjin saddles up to Namjoon linking with him. "This feels like a trap it reeks of witch level magic, what could be affecting the two of them so much?" Namjoon had thought about a possible trap when the screeching of metal on metal had stopped when he saw his younger pack mates writhe in pain, so much in fact it had triggered their instincts to protect at any cost.
Why was it affecting just the pair of them though? The pack had been keeping to themselves for centuries now, never once had they come into contact with another witch before.
That's when it clicks for Namjoon. The only time any of them had acted like Jimin and Taehyung was the night they lost Celeste to the supernatural dagger, she may have passed on but they were not about to let the hunters take her away from them a second time. It was pure instinct from all seven of them, it took weeks for all the blood that was shed that night to be washed away by the rain storms they had for months after those horrible hours of the moonlight.
Jimin and Taehyung were the only two who had seen her and nearly caught by her before they had ran out of sight. That had to be the answer, none of the others have seen her yet which further proves him right. "They're the only two who have seen Y/n since she came back. The bond between the three of them must have come back when they made contact with her." Which does explain why they were going crazy and the other five of them were fine.
The two hunters that managed to get pass the barrier stalk through the cabin, their muddy boots trailing from the front door towards the living room when a creak from upstairs catches their attention and they turn to each other smiling sadistically. They follow it up the stairs and through the hallway that never seemed to end until they finally reached her door, turning the knob slowly. Peaking through the tiny sliver to see Y/n under her blankets on her bed as the rain storm rages on outside. But there is someone or something else in the room too, an ancient magic of sorts shielding her from them in a hazy fog.
Distant screams and yells can be heard by both parties involved, coming from outside in the thick forest. Y/n perks up and like an idiot she runs outside in the storm in a hazy, frantic sprint. The snapping of branches and faint crashes of trees getting closer and closer to the cabin, Y/n's heart skips a beat when something black flashes past her vision then something white, her head spins as the fog begins to clear as the sun starts to rise above the horizon.
Everything comes to a stand still as I kneel onto one knee in the dirt to keep my head from spinning further after I had run out the back door. I have no clue when or how I had gotten outside so quickly and when I slowly come to my senses, everything still the slightest bit blurry as I look at the seven large wolves surrounding me protectively from what I couldn't see very well against the rising sun in the sky. The only fog in my vision would be the morning dew evaporating around everything as I make eye contact with a large void of a wolf.
His pale golden gaze softening as their eyes meet for the first time, sending a shockwave through Yoongi's heartstring straight to his primal alpha instincts. Namjoon snaps his jaws at his fellow alpha to get him to back down for moment before he made an ass of himself. Seokjin and the rest of the pack feels their bond come through in a rush of euphoria as they reconnect one by one.
Y/n's chest begins to burn at the sudden rushes of familiar affection thrumming through her like some kind of magical force. She clenches at her chest unsure and scared of these feelings almost outright rejecting them but, something about these feelings is familiar, so familiar in fact Y/n relaxes against something the color of brassy sand, completely passing out against the wolf that had led them to her.
"Whatever the hell that was wanted Y/n, not us. Those blood sucking bastards tricked us into thinking they were after the pack." Yoongi growls out making Hoseok snarl. "I swear if I ever see another one of them, no hesitation-" Namjoon groans quietly, shutting the other two alphas up as Y/n begins to stir into Taehyungs fur. "Not here, not now. She needs proper rest in her bed." Namjoon orders and Taehyung shifts into his human form, picking Y/n up bridal style to carry her back to her bedroom.
He lays her down gently onto the small mattress bending down to her level, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead with a faint smile before being pelted by a pair of shorts to the back of his head. When he turns around Seokjin is shaking his head at him tugging on his own shorts. "Shameless I fucking swear!"
A/N: Soooo? What did we think? I went through and read this chapter again and again because I wanted it to be serious but also kinda funny at the same time, you know? Gotta break it up somehow, what better way than with a bit of humor?
Let me know what y'all think! I really want to know, seriously.
I'm working on fixing the MASTERLIST right now so, just bear with me please.
