I am begging people to be normal about completed fics, and in particular one shots.

I am begging people to stop demanding more from authors, and insisting that one shots need to be longer or have sequels.

I don't think yall understand how many fanfic authors are one more "where's the rest of it?" comment away from throwing out any plans they might have had to continue an idea.

Unless an author like specifically says they might write more for an idea, just-- assume something marked as completed is complete, and respect it as it stands, please.

I can't stress enough how much I despise generative AI, and how much its effect on creative spaces bothers me.

I hate that there's too many times now where I come across a fic and there's that niggling worry of "Was this written with AI?"

And sure it's easier to see when AI is used for visual pieces, but there's still plenty of doubt there too, especially if you're just reblogging art pieces on the fly and not taking the time to really sit and review each piece.

I hate that I have those doubts now. I hate that people are poisoning the well of artwork online with "art" that is built on stealing from the hard work of actual artists.

Art of all forms takes time, creativity, patience, and above all else practice. It can be hard, and at times frustrating, but it's the making of art that builds your skill, and that innately makes it human.

By using AI, you are not only stealing assets taken from other pieces, you are depriving your own work of a fucking soul.

And damn if it isn't just making it harder and harder to both share and enjoy artwork online.

Have some fucking decency for yourself and others. Put in the work to learn, and to create. Find pride and joy in what that means, and in engaging in something humans have done since our inception.
