There is a legend that says that whistling inside the house is not recommended after 12:00 AM

This says that at this time the dogs of hell and darkness hear the sound of the whistle and manage to get closer to the whistling person.

People who whistle while showering in the early morning, are said to be able to see shadows and spectres standing in the corners of the house in the early morning.

If you want to try, turn off the lights in the entire house and whistle for about 30 seconds. They say you will hear a snap and then you will feel a hot air getting closer and closer to you.

It's the hell dogs smelling your aura.

I bought this one the weeks before last Christmas. The words say 'The dogs of hell pray for us.' Maybe they do, maybe they don't. There ain't no such place as hell, but if it were somewhere, who knows...

Agents of SHIELD: Hey Netflix Marvel! So I heard that y'all wanted to include some references to our show?

Netflix Marvel: Yup, what do you got?

AOS: WELL! You can reference Daisy Johnson since she and Micro know each other. Heck, you can even have Chloe Bennet guest star on the Punisher! Or maybe you can reference SHIELD's Codex on people with superhuman abilities? Kilgrave is British so maybe his parents worked with Fitz and Simmons? Or what if Coulson and May are aware of the legend of the Iron Fist-

Netflix Marvel: Wait...I got it! I want that random biker gang you had in season one. The gang that Lorelei took control of.

AOS: ...really? The Dogs of Hell? We're offering you Chloe fucking Bennet and you take the random biker gang that appeared in one episode?

Netflix: Give. Us. The. Dogs. Of. Hell.

My favorite aspect about mega franchises: When they turn minor details into a major plot-point for a different series, installment, spin-off, or something else entirely.

For example, the backstory about how the Rebels stole the Death Star plans was glanced over in “A New Hope” but became the main focus of “Rogue One”.

Another example, “Daredevil” took a biker gang that appeared in one, filler-ish episode of “Agents of SHIELD” and turned them into a major, villainous faction in season two. 

Then there’s the Walking Dead web shows that focused on very minor, unimportant details in the main show. The first one focused on the bike zombie in the first episode, the second one focused on Rick’s photo albums, and the third one showed the origin of the “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” message.

What about the rest of you, what’s your favorite example of a minor detail turned into a major plot device for some other series.
