      “ i love you too, but that’s not gonna stop me from going to work. ”      from silvanus laying on top of him to stop him from getting out of bed to athena hiding his boots to make him hunt for them for an hour         this was a low blow. on top of physically holding him away from the door, silvanus was kissing along his neck and saying sweet nothings into his ear. 

      “ i’m already going to be late... I LOVE YOU TOO, but i’m just on guard duty today. you can see me and we can get lunch together... besides, don’t you have to leave too..? ”

          “ you don’t need to apologize. there’s nothing for you to apologize for. i just want to make up for all those five years lost. what happened wasn’t your fault. neither was it mine - that’s something we need to accept. ”

         he should eat his own words - in his heart he knows he blames himself just as much as silvanus does. selena’s death is still on his hands and silvanus being taken away and tortured fills his nightmares. he was there when it happened. he had the choice to save one or the other - and he couldn’t do either. he was useless then as he is now. 

         he remembers the weeks he had mourned his losses. silently crying in front of their pictures and training himself to exhaustion - the calluses on his hands and the magic burnt into his skin a testament to all of his hard work , loyalty , determination. just to make up for what he couldn’t have done. if i was stronger - if i was stronger i could have saved them. if i had this power i could have saved them. if i was just
