smth i love abt prom's kindness n acceptance is how aware he is of it. when he makes a show of being offended or hurt over things he knows he has every right to b hurt abt, it's bc he knows he's making a different decision. when noct apologises for hurting him n he does the dramatic "right? after everything we've been through! nah... just kidding" that is to say this isn't unconscious. prom's kind n forgiving on purpose. he has the capacity to completely ingest his trauma n forgive the perpetrator bc he knows noct, n he knows he'd never knowingly hurt him. his compassion isn't an act, nor a coping mechanism: it's a conscious effort he makes in order to maintain balance
