thinking about the fact that every time Carmy and Syd get asked about how they are feeling, usually in relation to each other, the response is always tired. In s1, after Sydney quits, Tina asks Carmy what’s up with him and he says, I’m tired. It’s clear that he’s missing Syd because he had been moping about her for most of the day.

In s2, while coming down from their fight over the menu in bolognese, Sydney just says they are probably just tired. It’s clear that the fact that he left her out of the process hurt her feelings and instead of saying that she minimizes it to tired.

In s3, in apologies, when Sydney almost confesses that she’s considering another offer, and they almost talk about how off their vibes have been, they both agree that they are tired.

It’s definitely a deflection to communicating how they really feel which is emotional distant from the person who means the most to them. As this is the real issue with them in all 3 seasons. Looking forward to the day when they honestly say exactly how they feel.
