If you are referring to Henry Creel, the character who the Duffers have created deliberate similarities to Will, then yes! It has happened before!

I don't know if the exact things stated in that linked post will come true in the next season, but I think it makes for a fun hypothetical. I do see Will viewing his powers as something that makes him much more of a mistake than he actually is.

The fact that it happened with Henry in TFS is actually more proof that it might happen in the show as well. I'm not sure why you are implying that this isn't a show that doesn't like to reheat it's own nachos. They literally did that in the play with Henry. Henry was lost in the Upside Down as a child and brings back a shadow monster that haunts him. He also coughs up slugs and is a shy nerdy kid who likes comic books and draws and wears flannel. Gee, I wonder where I've seen that before. You don't see how the similarities might be there intentionally?
