I’ve been listening to too much doom soul 

I really want to read/watch something with a similar vibe. Does anyone know of any good Southern Gothics (horror + magical realist) with Black leads/main characters?

Lala Lundi: Cold Specks-tacular

You may be familiar with Cold Specks’s 2012 debut—I Predict a Graceful Expulsion—which featured her voice as the main attraction, a sound some folks have described as “doom rock”.  For those unfamiliar with Cold Specks we can only attempt to describe “doom rock”; a melodic call, sounding the alarm, reassessing consciousness because “even the dead can be astoundingly alive”.

If you haven’t checked them out yet, the resonant “Holland” and “Blank Maps” are required listening.

With her sophomore effort, Neuroplasicity, the graceful minimalism of her debut record is infused with a much fuller sound,  by adding drums, beats, and riffs.

Today Lala Lundi presents “Bodies at Bay” – a thrilling love song off of the new record which will shake your consciousness to uncover new depths.
