I was thinking about how dottore's segments seem to be named after Greek letters. Im wondering if the letters are chosen via order of creation, order of age, or via matching the meaning/usage of the symbol in math/science to the personality traits of that segment. Like omega build. Omega, when uppercase, is used for electrical resistance in electronics, and something about the density of the universe (in relation to the geometry of the universe and the value required for the universe to be flat? (Which the universe is but in a weird way that doesnt necessarily fit regular usage of the word flat, i cant remember the explanation)) it also has cosmological uses. Its also the last letter in the Greek alphabet thus it has symbolism and meanings/usages to represent ends. And omegattore was the segment to make the deal to kill the other segments, and while it does seems as if there are more segments, either newly made (or the original not being deleted as not counting as a segment?) But omegattore does still have these vibes of the last unicorn dottore.

I saw an idea on twt while scrolling about Dottore’s 45 year old segment (which I personally call Sigma). In the in game cutscene, we see Sigma at the moment Zandik dies and during the autopsy, but after that scene he’s not there? I saw fans saying that when Omega was erasing the other segments, this one might have been somewhere that couldn’t be erased, and that’s why he wasn’t affected. I’m not sure what it really means, though. There was also that line said while the segments were being erased, if that belongs to the Sigma one, then maybe he was cooperating with Omega. If hoyo added that intentionally, they could bring Dottore back as Sigma. Just a thought, I’m not sure, but I hope he comes back.

*totally not me writing this to 'how bad can I be' playing in the background*

Okay, so I've seen this theory flying around the fandom for some time now, so maybe you've heard that already. But as a total Dottore-brainrot-person I wanted to dig into it myself and try to put it together according to the timeline.

So, is Inspector Eroch Dottore?

Short answer: probably

Long answer: To be honest, it's up to interpretation and I'm here to lay it all out!

Let's start with some timeline analysis.

Crepus somehow comes into possession of a Pyro Delusion (we do not know however if he'd stolen it from someone or one of the Fatui gave it to him on purpose) Anyways, let's note that Crepsus (haha lmao, yeah I know not funny)

The day is Diluc's 18th birthday and he's going back home with his father. Suddenly, some mechanical fatui thingies appear (which were confirmed in the manga to be the doing of Fatui; most likely Dottore) and lure out Ursa the Drake

We don't know if it was a failed Fatui experiment and the death of Crepus was just an unfortunate accident or he was killed on purpose (In my opinion he might have been attacked on purpose, like come on, this man may have been a role model in Diluc's eyes, but to me he was pretty sus)

Inspector Eroch insists to cover up everything, because it might ruin KoF's reputation.

This leads Diluc to resign and leave Mond for the next four years.

Dottore defeats Ursa the Drake and makes Mond indebted to the Fatui.

Okay, so let's stop here for now. Later on it was revealed that somewhere during Diluc's absence, Eroch was kicked out of KoF, found guilty of scheming something with the Fatui. A pretty... interesting coincidence.

That would very much explain why Eroch wanted to cover up the accident with Crepus. To avoid any further investigation onto that case (and discovering it was all previously planned by Fatui). WHICH leads me to conclusion that Crepus had some unfinished business with Fatui and that made him got killed.

Then Dottore steps in, killing Ursa the Drake. Aaand this is the part, where the theory might have a small hole, but not necessarily...

Because IF at some point in the story Dottore personally met Eroch to talk about their plans of indebting Mond to Fatui, them being the same person is impossible. BUT, we do not know that. Maybe Dottore just killed Ursa and then disappeared *poof*. Or more like, went back to KoF headquaters and started the next phase of his plan. And it might make sense, looking at this manga panel:

Basially, Dottore was just *casually walking around* and *casually* killed Ursa the Drake. (yeah, not suspicious at all) And then he just *casually* walked away.

So this is the part, where it's up to one's interpretation. That's the part of the story that wasn't covered either in manga or the game, so... we can just theorize.

But let's get back to the timeline:

Eroch is kicked out of KoF

Diluc comes back to Mond after 4 years, the banquet described in manga happens; where also Dottore appears

Then Diluc basically kicks his ass and Dottore leaves etc. etc.

Now you might ask - If Dottore were Eroch, why Diluc didn't recognize him?

Well, for us it's obvious. But take a note, that when Diluc wears his Darknight Hero mask, no one recognizes him. (Yeah, I know, pretty stupid, since he's like THE ONLY ONE WITH LONG RED HAIR IN MOND) But remember it's genshin. And when Traveler puts on that funny mask, no one seems to recognize them either.

Also, I like to headcanon that if Dottore really IS Eroch, then after getting kicked out of KoF he fled to Liyue, where he tinkered with Ruin Guards for some time. But then, well - got bored and returned to Snezhnaya, where he experimented on other people along with Krupp. (who later was turned into that ruin guard thing lmao)

Now moving onto the visual evidence!

AND ONE MORE THING that piqued my interest: the ring. Which, the manga artist also might have wanted to draw our attention to.

That *twinkle* thing isn't there only for a decoration, I can assure you :)))) And you know what the ring reminds me of? Something.... shiny...

It pretty much looks like a Hydro delusion to me. I know this one is a little bit tricky, since thanks to some manga panels we can theorize that the delusion being wielded by Dottore is an Anemo one. (And we know that most likely he doesn't have a Vision - since he simply despises Vision users.) Tho, I still think it's worth mentioning this ring, because well - Eroch was sus as hell and that ring was the final evidence to him working with the Fatui.

If you've read through the whole theory - congrats and thanks for reading! I am really curious if this theory comes true someday. If not, well, I'm still curious about how Eroch looked like.

But for now, MiHoYo plz give us more Dottore crumbs.....

YOU'RE SO RIGHT, DOTTORE AS A CHARACTER IS SOO, HE'S SOOO<3 JUST CHEF'S KISS... hes such a cool villain, not to mention hes, i think, first actual real threat to the traveler. hes fascinating too, i remember how some1 said hes a living contradiction: wants recognition, but is arrogant, he wants to belong but he cant fit in, he craves love but is so cruel... just. screams. not to mention his sexy design

also, i did read ur other dott x reader works! right after finishing that manhwa au chapter i went looking for more works about dotty on ur profile hehe and they're amazing too!! it's just that that chapter has a special place in my heart<3

OH AND THAT DOTT X READER X AYATO IDEA SOUNDS SO COOL... at first i was like umm idk when i read that ayato is involved cause hes not my cup of tea, but ur synopsis got me so fascinated by it. i hope one day you'll write it<3 and tysm for telling me this too.. i feel honored. thank u i love u and i wish u plenty of inspiration for future works. kisses u mwah

Scara felt like a threat too but I personally was not worried bbout how the traveller would beat him BUT DOTTORE???? HE IS SUCH A CONTRADICTION I LOVE HIM. Dottore is so arrogant and talks about the TRUE values of what it means to be a scholar and a researcher but his ass was kicked out the Academiya yet he is so obsessed with it and the students of it like tighnari + nahida's whole role as someone who rules it in a way like.,, his ass can't let it go aaaa. and he has all this vast knowledge and he did what he did to extend his life yet he has no plans to learn knowledge of emotional intimacy and anything similar.

One of the most interesting pieces of lore about that ugly but beautiful man to me personally comes from nahida's story that serves as the allegory.

i hope the screenshot is good enough,, anyway. He is called a lone monster and i always wonder is it the fact that he was the only one on that mission the reason why or because he feels no particular need for the Fatui. Sure the they became friends part can be seen as something just used to simplify the story but the thing is, later on he goes and removes his disguise and looks at his REFLECTION and calls himself a monster. Like, he is willing to ADMIT IT. It makes me think that what Dottore wanted was for someone to recognize him as a monster and for them to love him anyway because he was so different. He WANTS acceptance of some kind but hates when it is not the kind he imagines.

And the word SOLACE !! DOTTORE FOUND SOLACE !! when he saw this ugly kitten who was in no way a human. I partly think this was because Dottore could cling to some humanity in him that scara lacked completely but thats too.. i want to give him some benefit of the doubt that he was finally GLAD to have someone different like him; someone he wouldn't have to pretend around.

And all of this suffering he had waiting for his true reflection and all to be shown and accepted just made him MORE angry when this ugly cat had no issues with being different; when he didn't have to PRETEND to be something he isn't to be liked,,,it gives me,,, i don't know I just can't help but to cling on to this specific part when it comes to my dottore characterization and yes people can call it theory and wishful thinking but I think it will amount to a lot more.
