The November 2014 issue of Iron Man Magazine is hitting newsstands now. In it, you'll find Part 2 of my four-part "Muscle Mastery" series. In this particular 10 page article, I talk about Diet and my favorite exercises for Arms and Abs.
The world of fitness can be very confusing for the typical consumer. Not only is the body amazingly complex, but marketers of products and methods constantly bombard the public with falsehoods, half-truths and misguided theories. People don’t know what to believe, nor even what constitutes a realistic goal, often moving from one trend to another, and making little if any improvement.
Doug cuts through the confusion, educating clients about what is achievable—and what is not—and how to get there. With over 38 years of experience, he has seen it all, and lived it too. Exercise programs are not “one size fits all.” The circumstances and goals of each individual client dictate what the best fitness program is for that person. Only someone with Doug’s experience and knowledge can determine how to best match a client’s circumstances and goals, with the proper diet and exercise program.
Doug has helped hundreds of clients achieve weight loss, build muscle, improve their performance in various sports, rehabilitate injuries, and optimize their health. He has worked with clients as young as 16 and as old as 91, male and female, and with a variety of conditions. People with Polio, Parkinson’s Disease, amputations and paralysis are just some of the conditions with which he has worked. He was also the head coach of the Pasadena Special Olympics weight lifters for seven years (1988 thru 1995).
Schedule permitting, Doug trains clients Monday thru Saturday, from 7 am until 6 pm. His rate is $100 per hour. Sessions occur either at Bolder Fitness, (MAP), or the client’s home (within five miles of west Los Angeles). Use the online form to get more information or to request an appointment.
There are three reasons WHY achieving a lean midsection is so misunderstood: 1. Misleading advertising and/or misguided instruction 2. Wishful thinking 3. Lack of understanding of how the body works It might seem reasonable to believe that abdominal fat can be reduced or eliminated by “working” that area (i.e. doing sit-ups, leg raises, twists, side [...]
As bodybuilders who workout every day, we know it’s not good to work the same body parts on consecutive days. Thus, we break up the dozen or so total body parts, and separate them into two, three, four or even five different sub-groups, and assign them their own day. For example, a person may choose [...]
You have probably heard the saying “Time is Money”. What this adage suggests is that time can make you money, but it can also cost you money, if the time is not wisely spent. This is ALSO true in regards to training – it can make you muscle, and it can also cost you muscle, [...]
