WHERE DO THEY STAY DURING THEIR OFF SEASON?

while dovey continued to largely stay with the lytton's at their estate in london, she did take the time away from the season to travel more on her own whims. often, she would disappear for a week at a time to explore a new pastoral corner of the map. as the new season began to approach, these escapades have increased in frequency and length of time away.

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR CHANGES THAT HAPPENED DURING THIS TIMESKIP?

during their time apart, nicholas and dovey attempted to keep in correspondence with one another. it was already difficult due to dovey's struggles with literacy, but it became near impossible when the letters became uncomfortable to share. now it seems like ages since she's spoken with her fiance at all. then another familiar face from the past appeared.

WHAT DID THEY MISS ABOUT THE SOCIAL SEASON?

dovey missed the parties, the dancing, and all of her friends all being in one easily connected grouping.

WHAT DO THEY WANT FROM THE 1814 SOCIAL SEASON?

at this point, dovey is just trying to survive the season until the wedding without being a total pariah or laughing stock... or somehow ruins it all. perhaps finding a better mentor could help.

HOW DID THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS CHANGE OVER THE BREAK?

dovey is speaking with her family more. however, she is speaking with the household she lives in decidedly less. anyone would be able to spot that dovey has been avoidant of both tim and aera in recent weeks.

WHAT MOMENT FROM THE 1813 SEASON REPLAY IN THEIR MIND AND WHY?

essentially everything that happened on the night of the masquerade at the lytton estate lives runs in a wheel in the forefront of her mind. nalan, nicholas, the garden, the masked man, the blood... the entire night the paradigm tilted unnerved her to no end. they definitely consider that night the impetus of their current phase of depression and anxiety.

WHAT ARE THEY LOOKING FORWARD TO, RETURNING TO LONDON?

mostly dancing.

everything else.

task 004: gods & monsters

d o v e y st george as the boogeyman

the boogeyman is everything a person fears.

it thrives on the fear of others, taking a cruel delight in turning their pleasant dreams into nightmares. being a master manipulator, the boogeyman often preys on its victims psychologically. its knowledge of people's worst fears allows it to unnerve its enemies, often leaving their fates to their imagination through thinly-veiled threats before finishing them off. the boogeyman has a perverse level of pleasure from playfully tormenting with its victims in an almost animal-like fashion.

"the dream is over. wherever there is hope, I'll turn it into fear."

task 002: divine reflection

d o v e y st george as ana of the keshalyi

the king of the demonic loçolici once took a fancy to ana, the queen of the keshalyi, or fairies. rejected by ana, he responded by hunting down her people and devouring them. when ana agreed to marry him to save her people, the king forced her to spawn horrible monsters that have plagued humanity ever since. their ninth child was so odious that even the demon king became disgusted with their union. while the king eventually agreed to divorce his wife, he only did so on two conditions. whenever a keshalyi reached 999 years old, they must wed a loçolici and ana must remain alive or the fairies will be exterminated. the ordeal she suffered harmed her so badly that she has to drink a dose of nymphs' blood every day in order to stay alive, and left her so traumatized that she scarcely ever leaves her isolated mountain castle which she protects by deterring others with rockslides and avalanches. when she does leave, it is in the form of a golden toad. ana holds the ability to endow life and can heal any illness. she may bless the infertile with children. ana is known to grant those of good manners any wish. the keshalyi endeavor to protect others from the horrors wrought by the demon children ana was forced to create. ana is considered a benevolent and self-sacrificing goddess who holds some significance to the spindle.

task 001: home

the caravan, st. george's vardos

a traditional vardo held an entire family in one, but the st. george's, clearly anything but, were fortunate enough to enjoy three. each a different vibrant palette of color, but all carved with reliefs of flora and fauna. one remained a private room for dovey's parents, one a living space and kitchen, and one was a shared room between dovey and her siblings. whenever they stayed camped in a particular location for a time there were other attachments which helped to connect everything. tents strung along and a lavish campsite blended well with the mobile homes.

dovey had a lofted bed that was partitioned by a curtain for privacy across from the fireplace since she had a tendency to need more warmth. it was the smallest space, but not in a way that ever felt unfair to her. especially because it was next to a window. the bed was always spilling over with pillows and nested by several blankets with a mixture of textures. fur, velvet, linen, silk, and wool all tumbling atop each other. there were always bundles and wreaths of dried flowers hanging on every available corner.

there is a corner in the shared living quarters that has two adjacent windows. when you sit at the crook, it feels as though you are outside. her mother decorated the space with all of her most treasured baubles and wares. this is where dovey practiced her cello most often. while it was more practical perhaps, her favorite spot to be remained atop her wagon. she would lay to watch the clouds and the stars, sit and draw the world as it passes, or stand to embrace what they may encounter next.

task 001: home

the lytton estate, dovey's rooms

when going through the effort of attempting to divvy up a portion of the english estate's seven bedrooms fairly between the lytton's, their darling child, and their three wards, dovey readily volunteered to take the least grand room for herself. she also insisted to furnish it through her own family's funds (and to her taste). it would be the first time she had a bedroom without wheels; even the simplest, stationary space felt like a foreign luxury.

dovey's room is cluttered with a collection of trinkets, jewelry, art, instruments, crafts, and decor from a lifetime of eccentric fascinations. there is a suspicious lack of books. deeply ornate, jewel-toned rugs cover nearly every inch of rich, warm wood flooring that matches the furniture which bears deeply intricate engravings of flowers, critters, and other various flourishes. unlike much of the house, the walls are unpapered. instead they, in addition to the doors and mantles, are decorated by paintings of whimsical natural scenes; deeply hued fabrics of plush velvet furniture, breezy silk bed dressings, and light gossamer drapery are embroidered alike with similar motifs. both of which are accomplished by hand during the many sleepless insomniac hours of dovey's nights. ampersand, the cat, has no less than three beds in different areas that he frequents, none of which he uses.

her favorite room is a parlor directly across from the library. it is spacious, has beautiful oil paintings which hang by gilded frames on the walls, and contains a large window that allowed an excess of sunlight to filter through the panes even late into the day. behind a pianoforte, her cello rests on a chair just in view of the garden. the smell of flowers is quite lovely when there is a breeze.
