A ⇴ AFFECTION

You were a very cuddly couple, the two of you loved to spend time with each other, even when you were out with others you would still make sure that you were sat next to each other and holding onto each other somehow too.

B ⇴ BOYS

It didn’t take long for the boys to accept you as they saw how giddy Dowoon was whenever he was around you. He got incredibly shy seeing you around the boys, seeing his two worlds collide felt incredibly special for him, and was even more meaningful as the two different worlds got on so well together.

C ⇴ COMFORT

There was often a little bit of fright in Dowoon whenever he saw that you needed comforting as he worried about what to do. He’d watch you for a few seconds quite a lot of the time to try and figure out whether you wanted to talk, be cuddled or both, not wanting to do the wrong thing for you when you were down.

D ⇴ DOMESTICATED

He loved to try and learn when it came to being domesticated, although he wasn’t the best at doing jobs around the house, Dowoon tried to pick things up. He copied your methods for most things so that he could things for himself and lessen the workload that you had around the house. Over time, he became more and more domesticated, mainly thanks to you being so willing to help show Dowoon most of the ropes.

E ⇴ ENGAGEMENT

It took quite a while for Dowoon to propose to you, as he often got too nervous to do it. Before he actually proposed to you, there had been several other points when he had planned to get down on one knee, but something in the back of his mind stopped him. Eventually he managed to pluck up the courage and the confidence to get down on one knee and finally propose to you before he got too scared again.

F ⇴ FAVOURITE THING

Dowoon’s favourite thing about being with you was how much he found himself laughing whenever he was around you, with his sides often aching from giggling so much in your company. He found you hilarious, whether you intended to make him laugh or not quite a lot of the time, but the two of you also shared similar senses of humour so you’d often find yourselves laughing about the same things too.

G ⇴ GOING OUT

The two of you definitely preferred to stay in and just do your own thing, at times having to go out felt like a chore for the two of you, especially when you had no choice but to attend whatever event was being hosted. You’d both be incredibly relieved whenever the event ended so that you could finally head home.

H ⇴ HONEYMOON

Your honeymoon ended up taking place a little while after the two of you got married due to your busy schedules. By that point it didn’t feel much like a honeymoon, but at the same time the two of you were just thankful to be on holiday and away from the hecticness of the city for a few days as well.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

Telling you that he loved you often made Dowoon shy, so instead he quite liked to do things to show you that he loved you instead. Gifting you flowers was definitely a favourite method of his because it meant that Dowoon didn’t have to always see you face to face and let you see how flustered such gestures made him.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

It wasn’t very often that Dowoon would get jealous, if anything you were the one that got jealous much more often then he did. There were still times when you struggled to deal with the attention that came his way as an idol, quite often feeling pushed aside a little too when he was surrounded by so many of his fans who didn’t seem to want to pay much attention to the fact that you were stood there too.

K ⇴ KIDS

You definitely were in no rush when it came to settling down and starting a family, the two of you trusted that it would happen when everything fell into place. Despite a little pressure on you from your families, the two of you were determined to walk through your futures at a pace comfortable for you both.

L ⇴ LAZY DAYS

The two of you slept a lot on your lazy days and made up for all of the early mornings and late nights that you had when your schedules were busy. You quite enjoyed just doing nothing and lazing around your home, most of your day was spent just talking to each other and sharing the stories that you hadn’t been able to share with each other because of how little time you spent with one another.

You were bad influences on one another when it came to the mornings, trying to pull each other back down when they tried to get up. Especially when one of you didn’t have to get up too early at all you’d try your best to encourage the other to stay so that you didn’t have to spend too long in bed all by yourself.

Most nights the two of you just spent time in bed and watched something to distract yourselves from thinking about work. You would lay for hours some nights and watch as many episodes as you possibly could.

Dowoon was obsessed with your laughter. He just loved to hear you laugh, even if you were in a different room of the house, when he heard you laughing Dowoon just automatically found himself smiling too.

P ⇴ PRECIOUS MOMENTS

He loved being at home with you as if nothing else mattered in the world. The comfort of home was like nothing else for the two of you, being able to do what you wanted and not be interrupted. At times those moments were rare, but every single one of them was appreciated, without any failure by Dowoon.

If he could tell that you were a little bit stress or snappy, Dowoon would be onto you straight away and wanting to know what was wrong, not quitting on asking you until you eventually opened up to him.

Whenever he played his drums, Dowoon kept his wedding ring on a stand down the middle of the kit to make sure that he didn’t risk damaging the ring. He also loved being able to see his wedding ring whenever he performed and use it as something to give himself a little extra boost whenever he was up on stage.

S ⇴ SILENCE

Getting silence in your home with a drummer was almost impossible, no matter how hard Dowoon tried to be quiet whenever he rehearsed, you still managed to hear it. Even when he wasn’t playing, if the two of you were in silence, then his hands would start drumming against something to make a bit of noise.

T ⇴ TIPS & TRICKS

Dowoon’s best trick for making things work with you was trying to make as many memories as possible, not only so that the two of you could enjoy yourselves but also so that you could reminisce in the future too.

There would often be a moment of panic in Dowoon when he saw that you were upset before remembering to be there for you.

V ⇴ VISITS

He loved to visit you when you were at work, often trying to wind you up too. Dowoon loved to surprise you as your colleagues loved to tease you too about how shy you became whenever he showed his face.

There was only one thing that Dowoon wished for and that was that he continued to have you right by his side forever.

He loved to peck against your cheek, especially when you were least expecting it. Dowoon was incredibly observant, never missing the chance to stun you with affection and leave your cheeks a shade of red.

You were his rock, there was never a moment when you weren’t there supporting him.

The two of you would often fall asleep cuddled up to one another and holding on tight. You hated having to use a blanket or cuddle up to a teddy, trying as often as possible to rest in Dowoon’s chest instead.

Rain hammered against the open window above your head, the cool air slipping through the gap and threading through the room. It would have risen a chill across your skin had you not been focusing intently on the instrument before you in an effort to desperately not make a fool of yourself. The rain had a beat of its own, and within seconds it had thrown you off the simple one you were striking with your hands. The bass thudded by your feet keenly—there’d been a flurry of joy that erupted in a giggle as you found keeping a rhythm with your foot simple enough—meanwhile its current partner, the snare drum, lagged a solid pulse behind.

With the joy fizzling out alongside the innocent dreamlike thoughts proposing ‘what if you were a natural’ and ‘what if you were destined to become the next drum prodigy’, you sighed and dejectedly came to a stop. The thunder rumbled in discontent in the sky far beyond.

“Ah, it’s ok! Try again, I’m sure you can...”

You glanced up to your mentor who was stood just to your side. He was twirling a drumstick of his own in his hand and if you hadn’t known better you could have taken it as him showing off. This was Dowoon after all, and he would do no such thing. Despite how effortless it came to him, smooth wood gliding over rolling fingers, it was clear that he was just as nervous in a way as you were—if the blushed ears and trailed off words hadn’t given it away already.

You had figured this would have brought him out of his shell more with you, since the drums were his passion, his terrain, something he knew well like the back of his hands. He would feel comfortable talking to you about it because it was something he knew in spools more than you ever would, you had reasoned. If that hadn’t occurred right away, it surely wouldn’t be long before your lack of ability would at least settle the tone into a more lighthearted one. However, it was only now that you were beginning to contemplate that you had misjudged.

“Ah, I think...” As he fumbled with his own hands, soft cheeks puffing as his brain worked through how to describe what he meant, you watched as he stopped spinning his drumsticks and procured them proudly to you instead. It took you a few moments to connect the dots.

“Oh, right! Oops,” you chuckled, shimmying your hands towards the ends of your own, “would be good to hold the drumsticks properly, right?”

His smile flashed before your eyes as he nodded and hummed. “Oh... yeah, that would... that would be good!”

After a few moments you attempted to strike up a beat again, but as soon as you hit the snare you realised you were doomed to slip out of beat. You had adjusted your grip but had forgotten how tightly you should probably hold them, and within moments the two had slipped out of synchrony. You let your arms still as you huffed, trying to keep a bright face.

You didn’t want to let Dowoon down, because you had previously figured your sense of rhythm was good and had announced so to him and the rest of the band, but more importantly because it was Dowoon specifically in question. Sweet, kind, gentle Dowoon. With his soft grins and deep voice, who was a comedic genius with the others, but seemed to always retreat when he came to stand at your side. You couldn’t picture his face contorting into disappointment at you or your crappy drumming no matter how bad it was, but it didn’t halt the uneasy trickling of shame in your chest. It sat right next to the heart that was beating erratically, a thrum too fast for what your body was trying to manage itself, and too loud for you to truly concentrate.

You wanted to succeed though, for him, despite the obvious difficulties that ironically presented themselves in the form of the person you needed to very much complete them in the first place. Clearly this was something you had in common as well, as when you came to your jagged stop, Dowoon shuffled a bit closer to you after a deep inhale.

“It’s ok, this isn’t the easiest beat to start with,” he reassured, voice dipped low in a surprising quiet clarity, “I struggled too when I first started out. It’ll be a bit easier if you hold them like... this and... aim for this part of the skin.”

You were well aware that Dowoon was talented. There was no doubt about it. He had been chosen specifically for his job, and the job itself came with many restrictions and added dollops of hard work and care. However, the level of that hard work had never hit home quite like it did to you right then.

He poised his drumsticks on the chair he had refused to leave once you’d entered the room, and offered his now-empty hands towards you. It wasn’t a request for you to hold them, his palms were visible to you but turned towards your own, still gripping your own pair of sticks and were once again too far down the wood. You didn’t move, and just gazed curiously as one of his hands gently enveloped one of your own.

Now you were certain that the gesture was nothing more than correcting your poor placement, but you were even more certain that sparks practically flew as his skin met yours. His hands were hot, as if they’d been rubbed in combat to the cold or nerves, and you very nearly went limp at his touch and dropped the drumstick entirely. Though, they were also rough. Against the smooth skin of the back of your palm, the etched lines and faint rises of callouses stood out like mountains and rivers to your own. They sat at his joints and ran across your knuckles as he manoeuvred your fingers into the correct grip, a sign of how much he practised and wore himself down until the music sounded just right. Despite the surface his touch was nothing but soft, treating it as if he didn’t want the same to happen to you. There was something so mellowing about it that you couldn’t help but speak up.

When Dowoon brought your hand back to the snare, guiding you to tap the head of the drumstick against the prime part of the snare drum, you uttered, “Does it hurt? Drumming?”

As your eyes crept up to his and he met your gaze with the fading look of a deer caught in headlights, you wondered if he would answer at all until he finally did.

“At first... yeah, but it gets easier,” he said slowly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other, “I don’t think getting good at anything is painless, though.”

Lips opening to debate you quickly found words falling to the wayside while you nodded instead, looking away. He was right, though he had surprised you with the accuracy and the depth that appeared out of nowhere. Just, it only made him more endearing.

It was at that moment you noticed he was still holding your hand. He held onto you firmer than he had done before, the joints of his fingers melding with yours as the tip of your thumb traced across his.

You immediately wished you hadn’t gawped so poignantly at the caress, as despite your true feelings Dowoon’s hand left yours like a cracked whip, returning to his chest before he scooped up his drumsticks once again.

“I’ll try again,” you covered, hoping that he would understand that you saw no harm in what he did, and praying that he would see how it was truly quite the opposite, “maybe I’ll get it this time!”

Stringing up the rhythm once again, beginning with the bass and adding the snare only when you were certain your foot wouldn’t falter, your eyes were impossible to focus upon the drum kit before you. They kept dragging themselves back, back towards Dowoon and his small smile that flickered like a candle flame but shone brighter than the sun.

In the end, you still got it wrong, especially when you tried to add a crash cymbal to the mix. But you were at least sure that it had nothing to do with the rain this time around. That truly had to go to the hope that flourished in your chest every time your glances met.

I hope you enjoy lovely and thank you so much! 

You aren’t surprised to hear the boys talking loudly in the dorm. Dowoon brings you inside, apologizing that you two couldn’t be alone for dinner. It doesn’t bother you as much, you’re used to the group being there. But it does make it harder to mess around with Dowoon.

Dowoon leads you to the table, where the voices are at their loudest. Everyone quiets down a bit more when you take your seat. Dowoon sits beside you, keeping his hand softly over your thigh. Sungjin and Younghyun bring out an assortment of foods, and you have to admit that you’re pretty impressed with the spread.

Everyone goes near completely silent once they start eating. As Dowoon takes a bite of food, he jumps and hits his knee off the table. He clears his throat and glances at you. You bite a smile as you pull your hand away from his thigh. Dowoon shakes his head and continues to eat, happy that only Wonpil seemed to notice.

He is caught off guard once more as your hand travels higher. His fork drops to the plate as he shivers from your touch. He lets out an embarrassed and choked laugh. Under the table, he digs his nails into your inner thigh. You smirk, your hand palming him just enough to feel him twitch under you.

Dowoon leans back and clears his throat, grabbing your wrist as you squeeze his upper thigh. He stands up and excuses himself, walking down the hall. The boys don’t pay any mind to him and continue to eat. Before Dowoon turns the corner, he looks at you and twitches his brow. You know he is telling you to follow.

You quietly slip from the table and sneak down the hall. As soon as you reach the door to the bathroom, Dowoon pulls you in. He collides his lips into yours and pushes you against the vanity, blindly closing and locking the door. His palms roll into your hips.

“You’re so bad, baby.” He whispers before lifting you up onto the vanity. “Do you enjoy teasing me?”

You only respond with a smirk that is quickly swept away by Dowoon’s lips. He grabs the back of your hair and pulls your head back, biting at your neck. Your eyes close and you grind into Dowoon’s hips. Dowoon grips your hips harder before ripping your jeans down, tossing them to the floor.

He kisses your neck before squeezing your bare thigh. Dowoon’s body trembles but he doesn’t hold himself back. He undoes his own jeans and exposes himself, pulling your body closer. You hold your breath to keep from gasping out as he suddenly thrusts into you.

You bury into Dowoon’s shoulder as he digs his hips into yours. He keeps one hand wrapped in your hair and one gripping your waist. Your back arches, Dowoon grinding into you faster and faster. He lets go of your hair and slams his hand against the mirror to keep his balance. Sweat quickly beads on his skin. Your body trembles as you feel yourself getting closer to an orgasm.

Dowoon bites and heavily kisses your neck, digging his nails into your skin. His breath gets heavier as pressure builds at the base of his spine.

“Cum for me, baby.” He whispers into your ear.

You muffle a moan into his shirt and let yourself orgasm, nearly slipping from the vanity. Dowoon keeps a tight grip on you as he keeps his pace. He smirks, listening to you attempting to keep quiet from the stimulation. He straightens himself and wraps his hand around your throat, pushing you back into the mirror.

A low growl escapes him but he silences it by slamming his lips into yours. He bites at your lip and quickly pulls away. You both breathe heavily, your cheeks flushing when you remember that there are others in the dorm. Dowoon quickly fixes himself and stares over to you.

“Next time, I’ll punish you.” With that, he walks out, leaving you still panting and dazed.

you were at a claw machine in an arcade that just opened up. you had your eye on a white dog, and you were determined to get it. 

after many tries you pulled out your last coin, this was it, you were going to get this dog. you put the coin into the machine, pressing the side arrow to go right and the front arrow to go as far front as needed.

"you went too far to the front." a deep voice said from beside you. startled, you let go of the front button, just to see that said voice was in fact, right.

"damn, why didn't you just tell me before i let go then?" you asked, getting slightly annoyed at the stranger. 

he chuckled, "because you seemed so determined to get it, here take this and i'll help you out," his warm hands placed some coins into your cold ones, his voice dropped into a whisper, "i hope you get it this time, if you don't then we both went broke for nothing."

with a smile on your face, you put one of the coins into the machine before turning to the man, "what's your name?"

his eyebrows shot up at your question, before his cheeks painted in a blush, "dowoon, yoon dowoon. and what's yours?"

Rain softly hit your window as Dowoon gently drummed his fingertips against the top of your thigh. He was listening to music tapping out the beat of it on top on your leg while you just scrolled through your phone. There was nothing particularly special about this moment but the times Dowoon’s face lit up when a good song came on made your heart flutter. He would just shyly giggle when you saw him and go back to listening but these moments really hit your heart.

I cannot believe summer is already over and I am back to school. I wish you could be there too, playing is no fun without you. There is a new boy this year. His name is Jae and he is always making fun of me because of my lisp. He is so mean. I do not like him. You are the only boy I will ever get along with Dowoonie. I miss you.

I like how you always chase away the bugs from our tree house for me. Remember the scratches I got on my knees when I fell jumping rope? Well, they are almost completely healed by now. It does not hurt as much.

I wish you were a bit older, so you would be in my class. I know you would tell Jae off during playtime. Mom said I should stop talking about you and practice my writing instead. That is why I decided to write this letter. It is not fair that we are not allowed to play together on weekdays. I wish every day was the weekend.

When we are married, daddy says 10 birthdays from now, I will get to see you all the time. I cannot wait, it will be fun. I like you a lot Dowoonie, I think about you all day. You are sweet and funny, not like the older boys at my school. I love it when you hold my hand to walk to the park. Let’s go there Saturday if the sun is out. We can play on the swings like last time. It’s Fall, but the weather is still warm outside. If it rains, we should jump in the puddles. I know you are so close since you are next door, but I still miss you all the time.

a/n: Thank you @mariaseemsgood for requesting #51 for Dowoon. This is supposed to be a drabble, but it turned into 1k words, so yeah, it’s a bit longer than I anticipated. Either way, I hope you enjoy it.

What does it mean to argue with someone? You’d never really considered such a thing until this time. It’s not like you and Dowoon ever argue, in fact, it’s a rare occurrence. Because even when Dowoon is mad, he’ll bring you your breakfast in bed, and leave you notes around the house, and leaves the last piece of cake for you. Sometimes he does all of those things because he’s mad. Though arguing? That’s never really been a thing.

Until now.

It still makes you cringe, imagining the look of anger on his face. It wasn’t so bad, the shouting, or the words, but the eyes, and the emotion, it stung like a knife through the heart.

He’s gone now, and the house is empty. He’d left for Busan about an hour ago, blanched and expressionless. There wasn’t a goodbye, or even a kiss on the cheek. Nothing.

It still fucking stings.

What had you even been arguing about? You tried to trace it all back to the beginning. There was something about Dowoon being jealous, and you not being able to go to Busan with him over Christmas to see his family because of work. Jae was mentioned in the mix of all that somewhere.

“I’m not jealous of Jae, {y/n}! I just want you to pick me for once in your life! It’s always about him and this youtube stuff! I know you work hard on these videos with him, but is it really so important that you have to miss Christmas? With me?!” Dowoon had raised his voice. He looked a mess, his hair was crazy from running his hands through it too much.

“I’m not missing Christmas, Dowoon! Christmas still happens here in Seoul! It’s not Busan exclusive!”

“You don’t get it, do you?” He looked like he was either going to scream or cry. “You just don’t fucking get it.”

Dowoon never swore, not in front of you, not ever. It was as impactful as a slap in the face. You shook your head. “No, no. I don’t get it, so explain it to me!”

He shook his head, then turned, and left.

He left for Busan without you.

You rubbed your eyes, you felt pathetic. You were curled on the sofa in a pair of old leggings and Dowoon’s yellow hoodie. It was too big for you, but you liked that, the way it held you whenever Dowoon couldn’t (or wouldn’t, in this case, perhaps.)

The familiar sound of your mobile sounded, and you scrambled for it, heart sinking when the caller ID showed Jae. It was the last thing you needed at this moment in time, but you still found yourself accepting the call and letting the phone balance between your ear and your shoulder.

“Jae. What’s up?”

“When do you want to come over and decorate the house with me? We need to have a nice backdrop for our next sketch idea. Oh! Do you think you could help me set up something for the boyfriend tag I’m planning on doing with Wonpil too? I want to write a song to let the viewers know I’m seeing someone. I thought it was creative but Wonpil thinks it’s too much. Is it too much, {y/n}?”

“It’s great.” You gave a standard, monotone response.

“You sound so enthusiastic.” Jae scoffed, “Come on {y/n} where’s your Christmas spirit? Anyway, I was thinking, we should-”

He kept talking, lapping ideas for Christmas decoration and back drops and singing Christmas carols, but all you kept thinking of was Dowoon. You imagined decorating the Christmas tree with him, singing carols and messing around in red Santa hats and polaroid photographs.

Then the penny dropped.

This was it, wasn’t it?

Is it really so important that you have to miss Christmas? With me?!

It all made sense. You’d met Dowoon years ago on Christmas eve, the Christmas after he’d kissed you under the mistletoe, and that was it. It was like a promise that each Christmas would be for the two of you, to celebrate each other and not just the holiday.

You lept to your feet, the phone almost dropped as you grabbed a pair of shoes.

“-{y/n} are you even listening to me? What are you doing?”

“I need to leave Jae. I need to go.” You tell him in a rushed tone.

“Go where?”

“Where am I going? Crazy. Wanna come?”

“No thanks.” Jae sniggers. “Now seriously, about the song-”

“Tell Wonpil that a little bit of excitement won’t hurt anyone. Your song idea sounds great. Now, if you don’t mind, I have a train to catch.” You’re breathless from grabbing things and the adrenaline wasn’t letting up anytime soon. You had to go.

“Okay crazy, I’ll call you tomorrow alright. Send Dowoon my love.”

“That’s if he’ll take mine first.” You mumbled.

“What was that?”

“Nothing! See you soon!”

The air was cold, it nipped against you in icy touches but it wasn’t enough to stop you from paying the taxi driver you’d flagged on the main street. You rushed inside the train station, you couldn’t stop your legs from racing the same way you couldn’t stop your racing heart.

“I need the next train to Busan.” You spoke incredibly fast, and it was a wonder that the man behind the desk had understood your mass of words.

“Next train to Busan will be in ten minutes. You’re in luck, it’s the last train, and the only reason it’s coming now is because it was delayed an hour ago.”

You nodded, smiling, but barely listening. You bounced on the balls of your feet until he gave you your ticket. You called a thank you, and a good bye as you raced down to the platform.

It felt colder now, somehow. You held the yellow hoodie closer to you, your pace slowing now you were securely on the platform. All you needed now was the train, and an apology and-

“{y/n}...”

You looked up, Dowoon stood before you, he looked tired, mildly pissed off. “What are you doing?”

“Dowoon you’re right. I’m sorry. If it’s not too late… I uh, I bought a train ticket. Why are you still here? Didn’t you catch an earlier train?”

Dowoon smiled, “It got delayed, but I guess that isn’t a bad thing now you’re here.”

You shuffled closer, wrapped your arms around him and shivered. “I’m sorry. I love you.”
