I don’t just want to be a doctor; I want to run and own a clinic for people of color based on the studies on holistic health mainstream western colonialistic white supremacy based healthcare systems have been ignoring for decades.
The girl you thought was weird in elementary school with the crooked teeth, frizzy hair, bruises from her mother & who carried notebooks y'all thought was poetry that was really her recollections of her day to day life growing up taking care of a baby at six years old & taking hits so her brothers would hopefully never.

Dr. Afrika and Two Junk Food Eaters
This video really breaks my heart because this is the mentality of most of my elders. The refusal to acknowledge the harmful effects of improper nutrition and blatant dismissal of healthy alternatives are key factors in the vicious cycle its created amongst my family members. Every week I hear of a cousin or an uncle in the hospital or awaiting surgery because of their poor diets.
And I get it. My elders come from a time where food was a blessing in itself, whether it was porterhouse or a steak-um sandwich. And black folks already got enough weight on their shoulders without having someone the likes of Dr. Afrika telling them what to eat and how to eat it.
But the numbers are real, disproportionate, and frightening. It's a war on our stomachs!
