Winona has done this song and dance before, it was dreadful last time, yes– but was this any different? Another version of her friends that don't know her. Rough, but she can make do can't she? What was weird was that Sonic didn't know her either, though. Something stupid with the prism she supposed.
However.. she did not expect the Council to exist here. Let alone him. Sure, her best friend being split into fifths was awful the first time, but at least when it happened she met a cool boy! That she missed a lot, actually, more than she'd like to admit. And yet here he was. Different. Too different. Like a ghost haunting a memory she wanted to forget so badly.
They were set in a standoff, one in their own way, except Winona wasn't ready for a fight. She didn't even know if she could fight. He obviously had a knife behind his back, she wasn't STUPID. The thing that paralyzed her was the fact he still had his voice. She hadn't heard it since she was thirteen. Her heart was racing and she couldn't tell why, she'd known fear many many times, but it didn't coil around her being and squeeze. It never made it hard to breathe. It didn't make her shake.
Worst of all he knew her name, but not her. She didn't even know how he got that information.
