Athena's hands were shaking, trembling under the weight of the bulletproof vest.
They never trembled when she was putting on her own. She was used to danger, but this time the danger was for her husband.
She was still angry at him, for the lies and the harsh words, but nothing could take away her love for him.
However, a sniper could take him away from her entirely.
Firefighters were loved in their community. Respected and appreciated.
And yet here she was, in their room, helping Bobby put on a brand new bulletproof vest.
She knew she could lose him in a fire or on any one of their calls, but she had never thought about him being targeted, not like this.
She was ready to do her job though to protect him.
When he was finally safe again, she could go back to being angry.
