Hello yes I just spent an inordinate amount of time pondering an AU and I need to get it out/hear people’s ideas so:

A Vox Machina Military Draft AU.

Percy and Vax are both drafted into a faraway conflict (perhaps to aide the war in Wildemount),and though they don’t actually know each other very well yet, they both know they have very important people waiting at home.

They’re assigned to the same platoon, with a ragtag group of guys and their sergeant, Strongjaw.

It’s beyond awkward, being forced to work with your sister’s boyfriend in such a horrible circumstance, but they end up really getting to know each other and supporting one another through the roughest moments.

Understandably, Vex is beyond devastated, sending letters to the boys as much as possible. To help them, she volunteers to help train dogs for the war effort, sending them a little Trinket she hopes will keep them safe.

It works, for a while.

But when Percy is gone for four months, Vex reveals that she’s pregnant, about four months along, and though she didn’t want to say anything, it was starting to weigh on her.

And it only gives Percy more to fight for

oh no this military draft au’s got me fucked up. while overseas percy and vax meet grog, who wasn’t drafted but volunteered, bc he just wants to be in a context where he’s allowed to Fuck Shit Up, and they decide to stick by him bc he’s huge and seems to know what he’s doing.

also, when vax was drafted, he and keyleth were juuuust starting to maybe be a thing, and so neither of them knows how devastated they’re allowed to be about the situation. keyleth writes him regular, polite letters, trying not to let on how much she misses him, and vax treats every one like it’s fucking gold. and keyleth doesn’t know if it’s okay for her to commiserate with vex, bc obviously it’s so much worse to have both your brother and your boyfriend go as opposed to a guy you are maybe flirting with, but she just feels so alone in her grief.

Oh my goddddd this is so good.

Yeah, I absolutely think Grog volunteers! He’s the type to go to the frontlines both to fuck shit up and, where he can, lead people to survive through the toughest part of their lives.

And godddd that Keyleth stuff is so good.

Imagine Vex inviting Keyleth to stay with her, genuinely wanting a friend to try and work through all of hardships, but Keyleth leaves early, or detaches faster, and it honestly saddens Vex.

It’s nothing but an awful misunderstanding, but it stings badly regardless.

Military draft AU - Pike is the field nurse and Scanlan is part of the military marching band.

Totally!

She’s the badass field medic who gets all of the worst cases, and she’s considered somewhat of a miracle worker on the field for the men that need it.

So people are more than a little shocked when her boyfriend, the rambunctious performer meant to rally the group in times of low morale, comes around and seems to effortlessly lift her spirits, doing the same for anyone facing scary odds.

They combine to make the circumstances a little less horrifying, and Vax and Percy are drawn to them quickly.

For the military draft au;  Keyleth and her father have a farm in the outskirts of town. Because of the war they decide to take in some distant cousins from the cities where the main conflicts are happening, and then they take in some more people, and then a few more. They are mostly children, women and elderly people so she spends her days between helping them and working on the farm. She tries to keep herself busy so she doesn't have time to wonder what Vax is doing or when the next letter from him is coming, but her attempts are useless and after long days of work come long nights where anxiety doesn't let her sleep.

Oh I love that.

She also learns amazing skills like medicine, survival tactics, and just how to help whoever she can, and she’s doing so well, but at the end of the day, it’s still so very hard.

Bonus points, she compiled most of the best stories into a journal, taking the best parts into letters to Vax.

And he’s grateful that she can be helpful and busy, and that her dad seems so caring to help her through the situation, but nothing really dulls the pain.

So uh... A few days ago I posted about an idea of an Undertale AU (I will expand it), and guess what?

Turns out I just made another StoryShift AU. I have seen AUs with royal skelly-bros and commoners Asgore and Toriel, so I had the idea to make my own. I stumbled across the OG (I think) StoryShift (with Chara as the judge and Papyrus as Toriel) a few days after posting my first draft.

Gonna say, it is extremely funny. There are several StoryShift type of AUs, one of them is made by the original creator of UnderSwap (it's really nice, it takes groups of 4 and swaps them, so we get Royal Scientist Asgore, Royal Guard Toriel and Old Women Yuri in the form of Queens Undyne and Alphys. I think it never went beyond the idea point).

Nobody is judging me (yet...) and the realization came to me by itself, but I wanted to do something different, and now that idea is only stronger. There is a saying that two people do not see the same colour the same way, and I believe it to be the same for characters. I will continue working on my AU, but I will not copy other StoryShifts. Any similarities are pure accidents.

Also, I very much like the swap of Sans and Toriel. We still get the Soriel jokes duo, but thinking about the angst of Toriel not being able to save the humans right before their meeting with the king and how much the Ruins suit Sans, with him chilling in the leaves with Froggits and Whimsuns, is kinda therapeutic.

Got one. Does Stan get involved with local authorities? He cannonly did illegal things his whole life. Did he ever get arrested and mistaken for his bro?

For Draft AU? Well for most of the time when Ford isn’t in Vietnam and Stan and Fiddleford aren’t going to Vietnam, they’re in Canada where Ford doesn’t have a criminal record (aside from migrating there illegally) and Stan (being the most experienced) is usually the one committing illegal acts. Ford’s six fingers and really patchy buzzcut are enough to convince the Canadian authorities that Stan and Ford aren’t the same person.

I was trying to think if questions for the draft au. And then made my own hc. Going AWOL is essentially treason and with their fight with navy ship they get a rep as being against the us, but it becomes more of a legend. The sixer fingered man and Co

That’s basically what happens, actually. When Ford and Company want to go back to the states to study the anomalies in Gravity Falls, the government lets them in on the condition that they make the mind control tie, otherwise face the shadow government that’s secretly controlling the US.
