sorry i might ramble a bit but I do love that interpretation sm bc i love scar having mixed feelings about grian. And also bc it does add a layer to his love for 3rd life. Bc he loves it and he loves to hang out and playfully tease with grian (ex. the intentional ragebaiting him into killing in pl).
But after what happened in last life and dl and having teamed up with clokers and bamboozers, does he look at his last death there differently? As much as he loves it, the cactus ring ended up adding to the counter of grian killing him. Does he maybe thinks that grian trying to pull away in other seasons tmeat he didnt mean his words there?
Specially bc we as viewers remenber grian really wanted to win along side scar with him alive. And in small moments he shows he still cares about him in some way (maybe doesnt show it the best way but still). And grian insistence of not reapeting the cactus ring talks of how much it affected him when he isnt as insistent with other stuff. But scar cant read grian's mind nor see this moments. So it makes sense that for him this reads as grian having something agaist him as a person, and the fact grian has caused his death many times doesnt help. if we ever get another ls season I'd love to see if scar plays around this and grian's reaction. A golden angst oportunity there
Yes yes!! I would love to see Grian react to Scar's bitterness over the cactus ring because I think he would be genuinely shocked to see Scar regard it as a malicious act! But given his behavior post-cactus ring it makes sense that Scar would be apprehensive to give Grian benefit of the doubt in regards to his intentions. It would be a wonderful interaction I'm dying to see
the thing about dl soulmates that's interesting to me it's that in some pairings it's impossible to demonize one side without sounding a bit like a hypocrite for apologising the other.
Like treating scar as evil for being hesitant to team with grian after finding they're soulmates and then say grian didnt own scar loyalty just bc he didnt want him as a soulmate. The same viceversa to treat grian like the only cause of their miscomunication when scar's reaction to rejection was freezing them both, etc
Yes I 100% agree! This is why most dl!Scarian discourse is soooo exhausting. People want to pick a side and you kinda can't. They both make mistakes and notably they both make the same kind of mistakes!! People also tend to isolate moments to sell a specific narrative when so much of the issues between Scar and Grian in dl is due to a series of miscommunications. They are not good about communicating what they want to the other nor are they good at listening to what the other one wants.

We kinda Saw a crumb of it on wl. And it makes me think that maybe they longer he's alone with only his sunflowers and thoughts and the whispers, the more he resents some people. In this case grian. Like in wl it was tiny and quickly brushed aside while here it was more prominent Since there was many thing he could have used or Said to convince Jimmy, but just choose past seasons deaths out of all. I wonder what would have happened if he and Jimmy did sucessfuly killed grian
I've said it before, but I ADORE Watcher and Scar shenanigans!!! The idea that they are poisoning his thoughts and making him resent Grian is soooo interesting to me. Scar has once again returned to the sunflower fields following this life series (and is once again the only winner to never die), so it's possible They see that their influence is working and make it worse. Ughhh I love the concept sm
ALSO!! I really wish Jimmy and Scar killed Grian. For so many reasons, but just seeing them celebrate afterward would have been glorious.
