Eclair panted, slowing to a halt. She was hunched over, her hands resting on her knees. That was the second moster she and Momon had ran into today! "Momon...You're...okay, right?" she looked over to her yellow companion who had landed beside her, panting as well. She was so lucky that he could use his axe. If he couldn't then they would've been monster chow a long time ago.
"Yep! Eclair, we should rest. You're really tired, and you shouldn't push yourself!" Well, he was right. She couldn't help that fact. The last time she had pressed herself she had passed out on the road for about an hour. They were both lucky that nobody had come along and either robbed her or run her over. It was a well-beaten path, and the duo always followed those when possible. She didn't dare walking when she heard other people or animals around. That was when the cover worked. She was lucky that there had been shrubs or walls or rocks to hide behind when the rare times came that she actually had to hide.
"Alright," she gave him a smile and a nod. "Let's find a place to stop and rest" Thankfully it only took a few minutes to find some shrubbery to hide behind. Just as usual, Momon patrolled the area, making sure that there weren't any people or monsters around.
"Eclair, hide!" He called out to her softly. Uh oh. She couldn't really find any other coverage that was denser than this. If she moved then the leaves would crunch and grab the attention of whoever or whatever was coming. If she didn't move then she could possibly be found. Her clothes weren't exactly the best color scheme for hiding. She stuck out like a sore thumb.
Momon was already being a distraction?! Were they really this close? She leaned in closer, carefully pressing her ear against the shrubbery. Hopefully she wouldn't be seen, and the stranger or strangers would past on by without noticing a thing. It'd worked before.
The yellow bird had gone stiff, doing his best not to blink. It was really hard to do, and it made his eyes hurt. He was good for passing as a stuffed animal. People would usually just stare for a minute then move on. Who was going to pick up a stuffed animal that had been left outside anyways? 'Oh, it's a stuffed animal...but it's probably crawling with bugs. Poor kid.' Momon ended up getting picked up then flung back on the ground. It really hurt, but he'd do anything for Eclair.
