Ever do something silly and find it was the best thing ever? This is series is possibly one of my favorite things I've written, has actual rabid fans, and spawned a sequel and 2 bonus chapters. Possibly more to come? But for something I almost didn't write, and was done on a whim, this became an amazingly fun ride!

I think I found my favourite trope.

It’s found family where each of them is weird for a different reason but they share one braincell and they’re all really obsessed and dramatic about one specific thing. Most of them are queer and the main couple is friends to lovers with the strongest platonic-romantic bond.

It’s just so fascinating to see the friendship between each one of them and how they act around each other and what their character adds to the group dynamic.

I can settle for just found family but if it checks all the boxes I’m never shutting up about it.

I think something that isn’t really clear when you’re young is how detrimental drama can be to your life--how it can be entirely prohibitive not just to happiness, but generally to peace of mind.

It’s so easy when you’re a teenager or in early-20s to get absorbed in drama--your own or that of other people. There’s a little thrill in having “friends” who will start shit with anyone, or hold grudges and make people pay; or being around people whose families are straight out of an 80s dramedy. (That may even be your own family. No judgment.)

But the truth is, going to school or work everyday not knowing where you stand with people, or if someone’s talking behind your back the same way they do to everyone else, or just generally stressing about what the outcome of a situation will be is absolutely prohibitive to doing your best work, or to personal growth, or just to a sense of calm. When your brain is flooded with thoughts and questions about some situation going on in your personal life, it almost rejects the thoughts and questions necessary to succeed in school or work or even date-to-day life.

Yes, drama is sometimes unavoidable, and that fact sucks. I guess what I’m getting at is this--if you can, I highly encourage you to take whatever measures necessary/possible to remove as much drama from your life as you can. I promise you will be better off for it.
