Hello, everyone!

I’m sure you’ve all heard of subscription boxes, maybe even subscribed to some of them and how can you not? There are some really amazing ones out there! But what if you had the chance to design your own box? What if you could include anything you want, maybe a mug, T-shirt, magical wardrobes? What would you want to have in your dream box? Well, Loot Crate wants to know! And the best part is, your dream crate could actually be a future real crate!

I was actually planning to ‘design’ a dream box with a different theme, but I watched Beauty and the Beast again today and there are too many things from that movie that I’d love to have, so my original idea can wait :D .

So here we go!

Tale As Old As Time

An Enchanted Rose

The first thing I’d want to have in this box is the enchanted rose. Of course, I don’t want to be cursed to get the rose, so it doesn’t have to be magical. It’s just so pretty floating in the glass case and I think it would be a beautiful addition to my room. Also, extra props for bookstagram!

Maurice’s Music Box

Beauty and the Beast has one of the best soundtracks I’ve ever heard and I sing along to every song. Then I heard the new songs and I fell in love all over again. So now I want to have Maurice’s music box playing How Does a Moment Last Forever. I’ve been playing this song over and over, and now I’ve memorized the lyrics :D Celine Dion is so amazing I just cannot!!

 The Magic Mirror

I’ve always wanted the magic mirror! I have a miniature one that I got a few years ago, but I still want the bigger one. Also, I’d rather it be magical and I could actually use it to see anything I want, but I’m not picky :)

  This is my tiny mirror. Also, it’s not magic.

Lumière, Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts

Seriously, I need these guys in my life. I want them to sing me Be Our Guest every day before I eat dinner! But maybe if a candelabra or a clock or a teapot actually started talking to me, I think I’d probably faint. So I guess their figurines would do :)

A T-shirt

After all the magical objects, I figured it’s time for something more… normal? So I decided to include a T-shirt in my dream box. I have no idea how to design a T-shirt, but I’m thinking of a black, or maybe navy blue, T-shirt with a mirror on it and “Beauty is found within” printed in cursive underneath the mirror.

So that would be the contents of my dream box! I’m probably going to create more dream boxes in the future because this was really fun :) If you could have your own dream box, what items would you want to be in it? Tell me in the comments! :D

Creating a Dream Box #1: Tale As Old As Time Hello, everyone! I'm sure you've all heard of subscription boxes, maybe even subscribed to some of them and how can you not?

Loot Crate is a monthly subscription box for gamers and geeks - their boxes contain things like t-shirts, collectables, and themed merchandise. Honestly, they look kind of awesome. (They even doFirefly & Harry Potter ones!) So when we were heard about Loot Crate putting together a fun project for fans to create their very own dream crate, we were all for it.

Picking a theme was kind of difficult - we love books, that's for sure. But we couldn't think of a theme specific enough. So instead we picked something we thought we could make a box with both bookish and geeky stuff. We love all things sci-fi, so our theme is SPACE.

1. Empress of a Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

Obviously, it wouldn't be a YABookers dream crate if we didn't have a book! Staying within the theme of space, we picked this newly released space opera by Rhoda Belleza. We haven't read this book yet, but we've heard fantastic things; it's even been likened by some reviewers to Star Wars, so this is definitely a book I would put in my dream crate.

2. Star Wars notebook

This cute little notebook is great for any Star Wars fan. It's pretty simple and neat. And everyone is always in need of a notebook, right?

3. Illuminae inspired candle

I picked this because I'm always in need of candles, it's bookish themed and I'm a massive fan of Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff (and if you're a fan of hardcore sci-fi books you should totally pick up this book if you haven't already), so I thought this would be a perfect addition to the box - & that 'blood' spatter really adds to the atmosphere.

4. Firefly print

I know that Loot Crate already has a Firefly box, but I'm such a massive fan of the that and just really loved this print so had to include it.

5. Stargate Command mug

I'm a HUGE fan of stargate, and this Stargate Command mug is just fantastic. I love a good cup of tea - so this stargate fandom related mug would be perfect for me.

6. Stargate necklace

The Stargate is one of the most recognisable images when it comes to sci-fi, so it's is hard not to include the stargate necklace in a sci-fi/space dream crate.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

I hope everyone is having a good Friday. I know sometimes the week can feel like it’s dragging especially if it’s been a crazy week, but I hope all of you made the best of it, and I have a fun post for you today. A person at Loot Crate reached out to me and asked if I would like to be involved in a fun project. She said Loot Crate is always looking for fresh ideas and asked if I would be interested in creating my own Dream Crate. This doesn’t mean this Dream Crate will come to fruition, but you never know. It only takes one amazing idea.

I was told the sky is the limit and I should go over the top if I felt it’s necessary. If I could create a Dream Crate I would want to draw attention and interest to something that may not be noticed as much. In today’s world I think more movies, shows, and books are trying, but we’re not completely there yet. The theme I would choose is Heroes, but not just any hero. Fictional Female Heroes!!

  This image above is of a variety of strong female fictional characters we all know. At least I hope most people know. If I could create a Dream Crate this would be the theme and how the box is focused. Since I love funkos my Dream Crate would include any female fictional hero and maybe their sidekick if they have one. Like Mulan and Mushu, Ariel and Sebastian, Batman and Robin. There should be at least 4 circulating funks for these boxes so everyone ends up with something different. I would also include a wearable item like a scarf, tote, socks, or t-shirt. This could have a logo created specifically for the theme on it. Every strong hero needs to have some strategic planning in place which is why I think there should be some type of notebook/pad with a cool quill ink pen included. The perfect way to keep those ides/strategies in one place.

  Something else I think would be cool to include is a patch. The kind you can iron on or including mugs/cool tumblers. I love a good mug and having a different one related to this theme could be cool. There are so many options possible but this is what I’ve come up with so far. I really enjoyed writing this post and thank you to Loot Crate for reaching out to me and asking for me to take part in this.

 As many of you know Loot Crate recently put out the challenge for us subscription box addicts to come up with the “Perfect” crate we would love to receive.  We were told the sky is the limit.  I have posted 2 ideas so far that me and my husband/partner in crime came up with.  This is the 3rd installment in our ever growing list of ideas.  This is a fun project for sure!

So our theme idea for a “Dream Crate” is MAGICAL LIFE or it could be called FANTASY LIFE.  Which ever floats your boat.  Our heads were definitely feeling in the realm of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them while dreaming this one up.

Wearable:

We were thinking a replica of the famed “Sorting Hat” I mean who would not want one of these?  I suppose maybe this would not be the cheapest thing to put in a box or cost effective but this is my dream so this is want I want. Perhaps cost wise there is a clever way to make this into a hoodie with a large hood?  Maybe?

Jewelry:

I had seen a few versions of this necklace online and I know I would want one for sure.

Enamel Pin:

Seems like all subscription boxes we get come with pretty cool enamel pins so I would like to have a NIMBUS2000 pin.  I have yet to see that in a box.

Figurine 1:

I think a QFig of the Thunderbird from Fantastic Beasts would be awesome.  I think they could come up with a pretty cool one.

Figurine 2:

Yes.. a second figurine.  This is my DREAM CRATE after all.  I would LOVE to have Funko make a POP figure of the Dumbledore’s phoenix.  I am not sure if anyone has done this yet and I am convinced it would be so well done by the FUNKO team.

So anyways these are my thoughts and ideas on this project.  What would your “Dream Crate” be?  What would be inside it? Hello lovelies ! A while ago I’ve been contacted by Lootcrate to imagine my dream box. Loot Crate is a geek subscription box so I thought it would be funny to make a post about my dream crate ! And guys, I have to confess, it’s hard to narrow it to just ONE box. But I had to make a choice, obviously. The box needs to contain a book, of course ! And since there’s this highly anticipated movie that just came out, and that it’s a book adaptation… Here it is ! At this point I think you all have guessed the theme but I’ll say it anyway  : Beauty And The Beast.

First thing first, since I’m a HUGE book lover (as if you’re not aware of this by now hahaha), this box needs to contain a book.

This book is a special edition by Harper Collins with amazing illustrations inside. It would totally be a perfect choice for this dream box, right ?!

But it also needs goodies !

What would be a dream box without a candle ?! This is a Meraki Candle inspired by The Beauty And The Beast ! The picture is from her etsy store. You can find it here. Her shop is full of amazing candles ! I can totally picture myself reading the book, wrapped in a comfy blanket while this candle is burning !

A funko pop is a must in a dream box ! I featured only these three but there are other ones available and all of them are cute and awesome !

Alright ! This is the last item ! A wooden bookmark ! Seriously guys look at how pretty it is !
