This was about the point he actually got a good look at the face of the person talking to him and froze.

"Hmm," the disciple said. "This one is Su Xiyan from Huan Hua."

Her eyes were narrowed, intent on his face. This was probably because she looked exactly like him.

Okay so I have been trying to find a new project to work on, especially because my current projects are (1) shawls and (2) so large they are now unwieldy and unsafe to travel with. Unfortunately, I don't know any indie yarn stores so I checked my stalwart beloved current craft store JoAnn... again.

A couple weeks ago, I bought 8 balls of Bernat Big Twist Yarn in "Community" because it's part of their Pride Collection and Community is their representation of the Ace Flag. I quickly realized that it would not be enough to make the flag-tile blanket of my dreams and instead of being a reasonable person and buying just one extra ball of Community to make a respectable 3x3 Ace Flag lap blanket, I bought 8 balls of "Authentic" because that's their representation of the Nonbinary flag and why not make a bonkers large 4 tile by 4 tile blanket with a whole ball of yarn used per tile? Why not be deeply unhinged.

Anyways the world is wonderful and yarn is everything.

Honestly, PhD boredom. I have always been prone to hyper fixations (knew the pokemon encyclopaedia in elementary school and started learning elvish in middle school, which actually helped me a lot with Greek and Latin in high school, lol) and I used to write star wars fics as a teen, but I had never actively been involved with fandom.

That, until I casually bought knights of the old republic on a steam sale in 2017 and from there proceeded to sink back into star wars with tcw, rebels, the comics and the books. And then the worst part of PhD hit, and I needed more Obi-Wan content to soothe my heart, so I turned to fanfiction. I started reading and writing gen, until one day I stumbled upon a gen fic with an obianidala sequel, and then I gave Anakin/Obi-Wan a chance, and the rest is the history of my brainrot

I just saw it in a tag and tried to look it up on your blog and failed, do you mind saying what the SW lot au is?

you probably couldn’t find it because I haven’t really explained it on here because while it started out reasonably normal it got weird real fast (which is not surprising for @dykerory and I but still.) and I try to keep this blog relatively nc-17 and free of people engaging in problematic sexually charged deeply unhealthy codependency

the basic premise was the question what if you replaced rip hunter, a man pathologically incapable of not rebelling against every organization he’s a part of, with qui gon jinn, and man only slightly less pathologically incapable of not rebelling against every organization he’s a part of and arguably much smarter. the next question was what to do with the AI. we made it obi wan.

I could go on and on about how canon obi wan’s compassion is inherent to him but his moral code is sourced out to the Jedi, so putting him in a situation where his compassion and capacity to love deeply is holding up an extremely dubious moral code means you get a controlling little nightmare freak, but the basic result of obi wan being an AI (specifically one put there by the time masters to keep qui gon under control after his son/student’s death, and designed to try to evoke that sort of paternal bond (it really doesn’t work. obi wan is neither idealistic enough or lost enough to evoke that sort of response from qui gon, but he does sound like a guy in his early twenties and he is. to put it lightly. a MASSIVE controlling bitch which evokes something even worse)) is that his moral code is less a code and more a mission objective, and his immense capacity of compassion and love all get focused on one little nightmare of a human person who keeps trying to break the universe to save someone obi wan knows he’s just a replacement for

Haha, yup! Headfirst as a baby blerd who didn't know what the fuck she was getting into with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. MMPR led me to Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon led me to the wild world of magical girl anime (and anime in general), anime led me to Kingdom Hearts, and you can find my trail of fanfiction leading back nearly a quarter of the century if you know where to look.

God bless those teenagers with attitude back in 1993 for condemning me to a life of nerdery lol
