"Yes, they were asleep on his shoulder. No, Amir's brain, it didn't mean anything. Aside from gravity still working, that is."
Art of a scene from Chapter 50 of my fic Finding Bones, Finding Ghosts! This piece has held me hostage for literal months. Behind the scenes below the cut!
The sketch from April when I was working on figuring out my posing!
This is NOT a timelapse, it is a reversed video of me hiding every layer in stacking order. Hence weirdness! I manually counted the layers because they're so mixed up, and across 16 groups (and groups-within-groups) I ended up with 84 layers. That's AFTER merging some of them during the process.
Ended up being a 12hr45m piece-- that time doesn't include ref hunting (including MULTIPLE captura sessions and about ten minutes of sitting in an actual dark bathroom with a flashlight for lighting refs), the trad sketch, fighting for my life with my computer to decide whether I liked the composition as I sketched it or mirrored horizontally. Shout out to Krita for not crashing when I flipped the image six times in ten minutes.
have I mentioned how unwell these two make me? Yes? tough i'm saying it again: These two have consumed my ENTIRE BRAIN for almost a YEAR now.
"Dream, not of what you are, but of what you want to be."
Do you ever get that itch? That creative itch that makes you feverishly draw until your arm cramps and it's been three hours and you've cranked out three pieces?? No? Can't just be a me thing...
Anyways! This is Ayhan, Ymir, and Nyght! Seems we all really enjoy names with Y's in it lol...
From left to right, Drifters belong to @we-goblin-folk , @odditybobbles and @nyghtwolf
Spend 16+ hours animating, video editing, sourcing audio, recording your own audio, and staring blankly at the screen wondering why you do this to yourself, and you too can draw your two blorbos having terrible sleep schedules
Featuring my voice acting debut as Hyperventilating Ayhan! I made myself severely dizzy doing multiple back-to-back takes of that to get the timing right! Appreciate my effort!
A "sketch sheet" that devolved into partial render because I cannot be stopped :3
Obviously FBFG is about Ayhan and Amir falling for each other (very. Very slowly. Dear Sol.) but I want to show y'all a peek into their close friendships as well!
Ayhan absolutely bonded with Quincy over a mutual love of Causing Problems On Purpose and bc he appreciates that they say exactly what they mean, even if it means having to 'translate' for them when other people make implied statements, requests, etc. They appreciate the fact that he gives them a clear method of reciprocating help (owing a favor) even if the favor itself is usually pretty nebulous.
Amir and Quincy have the same "brothers who kinda want to stab each other" vibe as in canon. Including screaming matches over stupid crap. Ayhan mostly just puts their headphones on and lets them wear themselves out. Unless it's funnier to egg them on.
This exists entirely bc I wanted to draw my best boys (and Ayhan) in their element but couldn't decide on one concept lol
Dude seriously I could go on for literally hours about this trio dynamic (and I will! Just. Later in the fic lol)
"When I was a kid, the Orokin had the grand idea to send a colony ship to the Tau system, lightyears away from the cesspool they'd made of Earth."
A scene from the latest chapter of Finding Bones, Finding Ghosts! It's nightmare-commiseration o'clock and they are both Not Okay! (Chapter 10)
Also discovered there is no Central Mall captura scene! What gives?! Deepest apologies to the players idling in the tailor shop while I crouch-walked around taking screenshots. I was deeply embarrassed the entire time. The alternative was having WF open while I was drawing. Which would've resulted in me playing Warframe with Krita open in the background.
I'm definitely going to try and take more refs of the Central Mall in a calm lobby, though. Partially to reference while I'm writing because dang it, I am directionally challenged and keep forgetting where stuff is!!
Arrow wounds, electrical scarring, burns, a Krubie bite from a rescue gone wrong... And of course the three main execution methods they were subjected to.
(lore & closeups below cut!)
In the few years between the end of the New War and their summons to head to 1999, Ayhan skipped around between bases of operation while Aíbinn "rested" in the Sanctum. (Aíbinn didn't really rest much because she's stubborn, but at least someone was keeping an eye on her.)
They spent slightly less than an Earth year working the sumps on Venus on-and-off-- Dark, quiet, manual labor. They wanted a break from the chaos of missions, and they had methods of keeping crew members up and kicking long enough to clock out. They used most of the money they earned to pay off debt-bonds for their crew.
They went back to Cetus after that, living in their old camp and occasionally swinging by the Sanctum for a visit. They felt less out of place on Earth, but not quite like they really belonged.
Background of fullbody is an edited screencap from Fortuna!
Yes I know I haven't properly introduced Ruaidhrí in the fic but I forgot I drew this and needed to share it EXPEDITIOUSLY
Rambling below cut :3
I will get better pics of Lyon and Loid at some point bc my camera autofocused them OUT OF FOCUS bc I CAN'T WIN but y'know
Ayhan struggles to tell faces apart bc Duviri meant masks on EVERYONE and also meant everyone had a specific place, and you would not see them outside that specific place.
They mostly get by using context clues, color palettes, & specific accessories/haircuts. This works fine until you see three different men with the same haircut in different styles in the same place. They are Confused™ and Fibonacci is not as helpful as he thinks he is
