Okay, so the most frequent question I'm asked is how to clean a new piercing. I can happily explain this after performing a piercing but with adrenaline being high and with a lot of information being pushed at people it's not surprising that sometimes information is forgotten as it's just so much to take in. Looking after your piercing is so important and knowing the right aftercare can completely change your piercing healing time and how the piercing will feel during healing. A piercing is an open wound and will definitely be sore for a few days but this is completely normal, along with some tenderness and swelling. After a few weeks the piercing will form a protective barrier around the new piercing in the form of a scab. This should NOT be removed at all, the scab will stop any germs or bacteria getting into the new piercing which can cause an infection. Try and avoid getting any product inside your piercing, this can be hard especially with ear piercings, so just just clean and dry your piercing every time you shower. Once the piercing doesn't hurt, and you can move it around freely without any pain, the bar is then ready to be changed down to a smaller size.
