Success in disrupting Israel’s war machine

Palestine Action has forced four UK companies to cut ties with Israeli arms firm Elbit Systems in the past three months

Declaring victory

Perhaps the most significant result of direct action against secondary targets is the way the victories are declared. Rather than avoiding admitting that the disassociation with Elbit was due to campaigning pressure, each of the four companies that have recently cut ties with Elbit had to email Palestine Action directly with confirmation.  This has become a necessary requirement to cease the campaign against a complicit company.  Amidst a genocide, every avenue must be taken in order to isolate, damage and disrupt Israel’s war machine.  Focusing our efforts on Elbit Systems and all those who facilitate them is proving to be a successful strategy, one which many more can get behind to channel our rage into results.

JANUARY 10, 2024- The co-founder of Palestine Action writes about her and fellow activists’ acquittal by a UK court for attempting to close down the Israeli arms firm’s operations in Britain.

"For over a decade, the UK has been a safe haven for Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer, Elbit Systems. "

"Elbit’s business model involves manufacturing bullets, drones, combat vehicles, electronic warfare systems and missiles, using the Israeli state’s criminal attacks on Gaza as opportunities to test and develop their latest lethal inventions. 

"The company was born out of a need to profit from and maintain Israel’s brutal occupation of the Palestinian people."

"Since 7 October, Israel has killed over 23,000 Palestinians, 9,600 of them being children, injured more than 58,000 people, destroyed over 70% of Gaza’s civil infrastructure and displaced over 1.9m people. "

"Elbit’s CEO Bezhalel Machlis boasted that the company is crucial to the ongoing genocide and has been thanked by the Israeli military for its services."

Elbit - Meet the six Palestine Action activists charged with criminal damage

Six activists who attacked Elbit this week were charged with criminal damage- it took a while - but I found out who they are. Read inside:

It is important to state that at this point – these people have just been charged with criminal damage and are awaiting a possible trial. The activists claim their action is ethically justifiable. No guilt can yet be assumed.

Yesterday six activists from Palestine Action were charged with criminal damage after their attack on the Shenstone offices of the Israeli company Elbit on Tuesday. It is time to meet them:

Elbit – the three key figures

One of those arrested should be well known to readers of this blog – Kajsa Anckarstrom:

Another of those arrested may not be known to you – but his father probably is. Michael Sackur 23, is from West London:

His father, Stephen Sackur is an award-winning BBC journalist and the regular host of the BBC’s frontline news programme HARDtalk. Stephen Sackur has a very long history of anti-Israel bias in his reporting.

There is no intention at all to blame this alleged act of vandalism on the father – we are all only responsible for our own actions – but given his apparent hostility towards Israel, perhaps we should not be so surprised that his son may have ended up vandalising buildings of Israeli companies.

Nick Georges was another of those charged. In the Palestine Action video, whilst Georges is spreading lies about Elbit and Israel, he also tells us he was sent as a ‘witness’ to ‘Palestine’ for three months:

This newsletter is full of examples of how bountiful Israel has become. Even in wartime there are weddings in shelters, huge donations to support the less fortunate, dozens of medical breakthroughs, the 7th best hospital in the world, and 80,000 Muslims allowed to pray peacefully on the holiest Jewish site. 

Israel has become the most powerful nation in the Middle East. It is reaping the benefits of alliances with India and Taiwan, and sharing its bountiful water technology with Somaliland. Israel is a leading light in the development of Artificial Intelligence. Its battle-proven defense systems have just been purchased by the US, Germany and Greece, providing Israeli defense companies with billions of dollars of orders in the pipeline.  20,000 Californians are sharing in the bounty from jobs created by Israeli-founded companies, and investment in Israeli startups is at record levels.

Meanwhile a new Israeli TV series has been plucked by Apple TV, and Israeli sporting successes just keep flowing. No wonder that thousands of new immigrants have come to share the bounty. Finally, one Israeli couple has had an extremely bountiful crop - one baby born every year for 21 years.
