"It's been a while. How'd stubbornly refusing to die go for you? I’ve missed a lot." She stares up at the sky thoughtfully. "Did I have this face last time we talked, or was it the one with the great cheekbones?" Missy shrugs eventually, examining her nails. "It really only matters in context. I'm trying to think of a metaphor about declawing cats, but all I'm getting is sharks regrowing their teeth, and honestly, sharks are a little tame for my taste. Killing to eat is fair, but boring. I like playing with my food. I'm sure you see what I'm getting at." Missy sucks her teeth thoughtfully. "Still a terrible person. Absolutely going to kill someone today. If you intend to do something about it, now would be the time, but please, save your breath if it's going to be a speech. You get so... Sanctimonious. And also, long-winded."

Alien brain malfunction during her breakfast. Of course.
“It’s the suet. Somebody decided that suet was bad for you and stopped using it in chili. Of course, it’s the stuff that makes it taste good, so it’s bad for you. Land People have some strange ways.” Misae drank more tea and finished her eggs.
“You staying in the area for a while, or will you be wandering on soon?”

79. "My name isn't Leslie. ...who's Leslie?" -drthetasigma13.
@drthetasigma13
Misae was really hoping to get through her breakfast without interruptions. She didn’t come into town often and sitting down for a meal in the diner was rarer still. Taking a long drink of her sweet tea, she looked over at the very bouncy looking alien girl asking the non sequitur question.
“I don’t know any Leslie. Are you looking for one? Or just wondering if you look like one?”
She took a bite of her toast and examined her inquisitor.
“Do you have a keeper or something? You look a bit lost if you don’t mind my saying so.”
Thirteen and Evelyn: The Floodgates
@drthetasigma13 from here
“That’s fair. That’s a fair hit.”
“I have been fairly in and out lately. Scarcely seen you for two whole lives. Never was good at keeping in touch.”
“But I’m here now. Does that at least count for… somethin’?”
Evelyn sighed and slid her hands into the pockets of her jacket. Wisteria’s feeble excuse for winter winds kicked up a swath of brown leaves, carrying it down the road as she watched.
She didn’t want to devolve into a brooding resentment, not in general and certainly not around the Doctor. When the penny had dropped, the timelines had evened out (or whatever it was that had made things so wonky at first, she honestly didn’t understand much of this stuff at all) and she had realized that the high-spirited blonde woman with the oddball fashion sense who had offered her eager assistance in tracking down Evelyn’s lost cat was her old friend the Doctor, it had been something of a shock.
Things had almost started getting back to normal. As normal as they could be for Evelyn.
“It... does. I mean, of course it does. I’m not angry with you, Doctor. I just... sometimes I wonder if you know the effect you have on people. How you’re just this... this huge catalyst for change in our lives. You swoop in, and suddenly everything’s different, and then you’re gone again, and yes, some of us may tag along for awhile, but in the end we all fall away back to Earth and--” She shrugged. “We have to find a way to put the pieces of our lives back together again. If that’s even possible.”
