I think Julian and Garak would both like Frank Miller’s Dark Knight comics. I think (at least in the beginning) Julian would romanticize Batman, considering him a heroic man who works in the shadows in order to achieve what no one else seems to be able to (sound familiar…?).

But as many have pointed out, Miller’s Batman is fascist, using violence to enforce his own sense of law and order. I think Garak would point this out to Julian, and he would perhaps reevaluate his assessment of Batman, knowing that it does not mesh well with his Federation idealism. I do think Garak would consider Batman’s methods an effective, if crude, means of achieving order. I honestly would love to see what kind of debates this topic would spark! And they could also get into the various incarnations of Batman, such as Gotham (which, IMO, has some highly intriguing villains worth examining).

1: sexuality headcanon - lesbian, extremely closeted :/ it’s why she goes for men who she both admires greatly and that she won’t see often (aside from Odo, with whom she has a deep bond, which can be confusing; also he is technically sexless anyway… 😛) It’s also why she is so critical of jadzia’s choice in men (she’s jealous)2: otp - Dax3: brotp - Odo4: notp - Dukat (why is this a thing????)5: first headcanon that pops into my head - I like to imagine that she actually becomes very close with Julian, at least post-canon; I think it would be a necessity with so many having left the station or passed on–also, Jake is like her little bro 💜6: one way in which I relate to this character - passionate about social justice7: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - Bareil 8: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? huge cinnamon roll with a slightly thorny exterior (totally understandable though)

Dr. Julian Bashir! For the ask thing, please.

1: sexuality headcanon - gay. One hundred percent homosexual, but perhaps confused at points (hence his fleeting relationships with women and his preoccupation with Dax)2: otp - garak 3: brotp - Miles–although there is definitely some homosexual subtext in their relationship. 4: notp - honestly, anyone who isn’t Garak or Miles; but the one that really bothers me is Mirror!Garak. He’s so one dimensional, and what I’ve seen tends to be dubcon/non-con 😒5: first headcanon that pops into my head - he’s gay lol. Aside from that: I think Julian would have been a good doctor even without his enhancements, had he been given the right opportunities.6: one way in which I relate to this character - wears his heart on his sleeve yet masks parts of himself as a means of self-preservation and a way of not letting anyone get too close (this may be partly conjecture though…)7: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - meditation with Kira; early arrogance 8: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? Cinnamon roll!!! ☺️💕
