The only man I dream about when I close my eyes at "night".
having a circadian rhythm disorder counts as Horrors Beyond Your Comprehension i think. i mean. not beyond my comprehension, i've lived like this my whole life. but it certainly seems to be beyond everyone else's comprehension, including sleep doctors.
i dread telling people about my non-24 delayed sleep phase disorder because before i had these words for it the suggestions were always "have you tried sleep deprivating yourself until you stop being disabled?" like i love that the answer to being neurodivergent is always torturing yourself and i can't even be mad at people because until last year i used to give the exact same advice
genuinely I have zero respect for people with DSPD who speak about it in terms of "treatment" and "curing" and "fixing". If you can't change your sleep schedule to match your circadian rythym and have to continue to match a societally standard sleep/wake schedule, and are looking to ways to help you do so, that's entirely fair. But calling literally anything other than the sleep/wake schedule that aligns with your natural circadian rythym a "healthy" sleep schedule is just flat-out wrong. That "normal" sleep schedule is unhealthy, for you. Lets be honest about that at least.
Keep getting told how "cool" it is that I can stay up all night so here's your regular reminder that sleep disorders fucking suck and no you do not want one.
I really hate that I have to refer to my sleep cycle as a disorder. If I can sleep with no other difficulties besides when my natural circadian rhythm decides it’s time to wake up and fall asleep, why am I considered the problem. Humans socially engineered the 9-5 schedule, that’s an artificial barrier we constructed for ourselves, and is a very recent development in history. Why is that the norm and me the problem. Evolution didn’t design us with jobs and schedules and money in mind
I hate bedtime zoomies I just want to sleep at night and have energy during the day like my economic circumstances demand of me
