Forced agere but your new dad doesn’t get mad at you and always treats you like his baby, no matter what your headspace is
Of course you’re not going to just give in immediately, he knows that, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to entertain the notion that you’re an adult
You’d cry a lot in the beginning and say things that made him a bit sad, “Let me go. I hate you, I don’t wanna be here, I wanna go home” but he knows you don’t really mean it. You’re just scared, new places are hard for little baby brains to handle “Oh I know baby, shh shh… Papa’s here, it’s okay bub” you wiggle and hit but he just holds you down in his lap and against his chest. “No no, we don’t hit baby, that’s not nice, okay?”
He doesnt act like your fighting and attempts to escape are at all intentional, you just dont know better. “Ah-ah! Don’t run away from Daddy please. If you wanna go outside, you have to ask nicely and hold papa’s hand.” “Let me go! Please I just wanna go home I don’t wanna be here! Let me go!” “I know you wanna see all the pretty flowers and birds, but you have to be a good boy. It’s dangerous if you wander off without me, bub”
Even through all the crying and screaming his voice is soft and he’s gentle. Overtime you just stop saying that stuff, he’s heard it a thousand times already anyways. There’s no need to pretend to be small, he’ll treat you as such anyways and it’s getting easier to feel yourself slip. Tired from crying as he holds you against him and you lean your head on his shoulder while he rocks you.
There’s not much to do, so you color and arrange your toys even if a few days earlier you said you’d rather stare at a wall than act like a baby. He doesn’t comment on any of those changes either, he just says how pretty your picture is when he comes to check on you. If you decide to not play tomorrow, embarrassed by him noticing, he just picks you up and sets you on his lap while he reads (out loud, of course, babies should be read to often).
You’ll always be his little boy even if you insist you’re not. Little kids always like to pretend to be bigger than they really are. Papa loves you because you’re you, his sweet boy <3
