So the explanation for "Searching for a Mario That Shouldn't Exist" is that it's a plot to use the timeline's current state and the power of the King in Yellow's domain to change the fates of two particular characters.

The first of course is the evil Movie Mario, the only one of the Trio who knows who they all actually are and why they're here. Because it's his plan and he messed with the memories and models of the others to keep the King from knowing and interfering with his plan (because the King would absolutely mess with the plan even if doing so wouldn't have any real benefit to him just because he's absolutely that kind of an asshole).

"Lily" is actually Morris, who Mario empathizes with given how both of them had their siblings "turned against them" by people who "never gave them the chance to be anything but monsters."

Steve is only there because Mario needed a Minecraft Guy to get them through the server in one piece. He just grabbed a random Steve model and shoved some fake memories into it. He has no real role in all this and Mario very openly Does Not Care how he feels about learning that.

Even with the power, they're only just barely able to make it so they survive in the new timeline, and even then their code will be too damaged to come back as their original selves. So Mario will become a Duplighost named Slick and Morris will reinvent herself as Lemure, the Phantom Viper.

As for future plans, Slick has his eyes on the fact that, technically, slots for a -3 and -4 are available in the SMG lineup...

Arc Idea: The crew somehow get transported to an alternate timeline where Meggy was selected as the Avatar instead of Mario, since she started out as the Playable Inkling for Splatoon 1 and thus was technically eligible. So now they need to find a way back home with the help of Alt. Meggy and her friends.

And yes, this means the alternate versions of 3 and 4 would also be Inklings.

I know that Buford didn't know what the word "collide" meant until the Whalemingo episode, but I can't remember what he thought it meant, other than that he was so wrong that it made Baljeet do a verbal double-take.

You know it occurs to me that for Helmut's thinkerprint to register him as senior staff the thinkerprint system would probably have to predate the Psychonauts' shift from research facility/hippie commune/mad science lab to spy organization, since that happened after the Maligula incident and Helmut's presumed death.

part of me thinks the reasoning does just kinda lie in it being the funny thing to happen in the moment but I'm also a fan of the system having Helmut registered bc one of the 5 left felt it was important to do so, somehow

considering that Raz can be masked and registered as Truman thru the thinkerprints makes me think it's like, a surface level brain-wave type thing that could be categorized and saved back in the hippie days.

“How do we pay for this food?” Tucker asked. Danny froze. He didn't think of that.

“Dunno, never paid,” Nick replied. He had a perfectly cooked hot pocket.

“So it's free?” Tucker questioned hopefully.

“Never said that, I just said that I never paid,” Nick corrected. “So alrighty! We have two more newbies that are gonna fight to the death for the chance to move up! @zelandiangelo versus @duckapus!”

“...Like fight to a re-death, or are you using a figure of speech?” Danny asked.

“Let's find out! Phight!”

“I'm not just fighting alone, you see!” Zelan declared proudly. They motioned for another ghost to come closer. The ghost came to the edge of the arena. They held up a supportive sign. “My greatest weapon is my fiancee's love and support!”

“You go, Zelan!” the fiancee cheered. Duckapus's face dropped, but he was determined to win. He held up his wand, turning it into a trident.

“No can do! According to [insert warrior cats fact that Nick doesn't know that would be relevant enough to make sense in the context of this phight]!” Zelan declared. The trident was forcibly turned back into a wand. No matter.

Duckapus charged, but soon as he got to Zelan, a horrible realization hit him. He couldn't actually hit them with the wand. No matter as he could, there was a layer of protection around Zelan. Love Protection.

“Whelp, just like many phights today, guess the power of love triumphs all. Zelandiangelo wins! Also a side note, it's literally never to the re-death, and I think we should up the motivation.”
