Hi friend! Have you seen Mothers’ Instinct, either the og French or the new US? Wanted to know your thoughts

Hi!!! So sorry this took so long to reply to, I hadn't seen either film and I really wanted to watch one of them to be able to give you an opinion! Anyways, I watched the original yesterday and I will say that I did quite like the first two acts, I found the plot to be lacking overall but I am a big Douglas Sirk fan and so I could forgive that lack due to the sumptuous colours and gorgeous shots and great melodrama ambience - along with striking performances, in my opinion. However, I really found that the film just kind of unraveled in the last act and I wish it had maybe leaned MORE into the melodrama to pull that part of the story off, or that the plot had been stronger overall with a different third act that could support itself narratologically, if that makes sense. I am interested in watching the remake though, if only to finally see Anne Hathaway and Jessica Chastain actually share a screen, but I doubt it will be stronger than the original since that almost never happens with Hollywood remakes lmao
